Ashby Nursery School & Pre-school Academy was architecturally designed and purpose-built as a Children’s Day Nursery in 1996, having a simple philosophy of continually aiming to offer the highest levels of childcare for children aged 6 weeks to 5 years.

One of the nursery’s more important features is its policy of only employing fully qualified nursery officers, who all hold a childcare qualification and also have a First Aid and Food Hygiene qualification alongside other professional qualifications.

The nursery also provides three balanced meals freshly prepared each day, including breakfast which is offered to all children arriving before 8.45am. They are members of the Pre-school Learning Alliance, the National Day Nurseries Association and other childcare related associations.

It is a great responsibility to care for children, and therefore their aim is to offer the highest levels of nursery care they possibly can. The owners hope their Prospectus goes some way to illustrate this; however should you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact.

Our son has been attending Ashby Day Nursery since September -- although he started at preschool age his progress has been amazing and his confidence has increased massively in that time. We are always greeted with a warm smile and welcome in the mornings and the same in the afternoon at pick up where
information is given about our sons day (e.g what he's eaten, if he's been to the toilet) this is also updated online daily so we can keep track and see what he's been up to - this includes activities he may have been doing or the progress he is making/aiming for. We wanted him to feel like nursery/preschool was a home from home and that's exactly what we get at Ashby Day Nursery, he's always excited to go in and see his friends and always has a beaming smile when he leaves. We couldn't have picked a better setting - but we felt that in our guts when we were looking. We were met with quick responses to our enquires and certainly, in these difficult times, we've always be reassured.

Exceeds in all levels of care for my child. Approachable, reliable, honest. Learn through play. My child thoroughly enjoys coming into nursery. The interaction with other children helps his progression. Couldn't fault the nursery in any areas. Delivers accounts of daily activities and provides interim
reports.

My son has been attending since January 2020. The staff are brilliant and extremely caring of the children. This is very clear to see from the care of my son and when you see them interacting with other families and their children. They really focus on the children’s development and easily adapt the
day's activities to what they’re currently developing so they’re receiving encouragement at home and it’s continued in nursery. The meals are really well balanced and varied which is fantastic. It was sad their doors closed for lockdown but they continued to support families by sending through learning and play materials, using their social media platform to suggest daily activities and a bedtime story each night too. While we weren’t all regularly seeing the staff they were still making their support and presence felt, which really shows how much they care about children’s development and the continuity that helps the children. It’s a real home from home, an extension of our family.

My daughter has been attending this nursery for 7 or so months and her development from nursery has been amazing. I get lovely updates daily on her progress and photos showing her work and what milestones she has been reaching or what she needs to be working towards. She is so happy and enjoys being
there and although she is still very young, I am excited to see her grow and progress even more there. The staff are very lovely and adore her and you can see its a very tight knitted family feel there and I can honestly say I never worry about her during the day or ever had any concerns. They know everything about her every day we receive feedback on her nap times, nappies and how much she has eaten.

Both my children currently attend Ashby Day Nursery and are extremely happy there: the care they receive from all staff is wonderful. Staff work incredibly hard to make sure that the children in every room are settled and confident, and their contribution to the children's development is enormous. There
is a busy programme of events and themes to keep the children busy all year long, and they come home every day full of excitement about the things they have done. The children get plenty of time outside in all weathers, either at nursery or in the nearby playground or at Forest School.
Communication with parents is always very clear and helpful. During the lockdown, the nursery worked especially hard to stay in touch with all the children and parents, sending activity ideas, sharing story videos, and making videos of the children's lockdown experiences. This really was going the extra mile, and it was much appreciated by all of us.
I cannot recommend the nursery more highly.

We chose Ashby Day Nursery for our son and he attended from the age of 18 months until just after his 4th birthday. We saw five nurseries altogether and we loved Ashby Day Nursery from the minute we saw it. We were immediately struck by the warm welcome, the colourful art work everywhere (including
amazing cut-out fish and seaweed hanging in the toilets!) and the noise of children and staff who were obviously enjoying themselves. The nursery has a lovely family feel and great energy. The staff are caring and fun and we felt immediately at ease with the idea of trusting them with our son. Drop off and pick up always took way longer than expected as we would often end up having a chat and we will miss the staff every bit as much as our son will. Thank you for taking such good care of him. He really thrived with you.

Ashby Day Nursery has been absolutely fantastic for my daughter! She can be incredibly shy, but she is now blossoming since she’s found her confidence at nursery. Every time she comes home from nursery she tells me she’s had a ‘good day’, which is obviously lovely to hear. The staff are always so welcoming;
she is happy, and so are we as her parents. I’d highly recommend the nursery!

One of the reasons we picked Ashby Day Nursery is because it was small, and the staff would get to know my son better than in a bigger setting. They are all brilliant, they really know him well, and even the staff who work in different rooms know I am his Mum. My son loves going to nursery, he has just
moved up from the baby room and did it with no fuss or upset because the staff made it an easy, fun process. He is developing into a clever confident little boy, and this is in part due to the amazing activities the staff do with the children. I feel like he is genuinely loved by the staff there and that they enjoy looking after him. Would recommend it to anyone.

My son has been at Ashby Day Nursery for the last couple of years. He's never been very good at drop off, but all the staff have always made me and my son feel better and are happy for me to phone up and check he's ok. I love the fact the team are flexible and have always accommodated anything I specifically
wanted for my sons, such as the way we weaned and napping. My son has come on so much and loves to tell me about all the things they get up to. He's often covered in paint and always seems to have played outside whatever the weather, which is exactly what I wanted from a nursery. He's now in preschool-1, and I can see a real difference in his independence and confidence. The staff always make time to fill me in on what he's been up and always easy to get in touch about anything over phone or email.

A fantastic nursery currently attended by my youngest son, and previously attended by my eldest. The staff are brilliant, very caring and enthusiastic about what they do. Different activities are planned for each day, and my son often brings home crafts that he has done, particularly very thoughtful
gifts for us on special days such as fathers day; that has been planned by the staff. The food is great with a varied menu. Although the outdoor space is small, as an intimate nursery with four rooms, they rotate outdoor play and sometimes walk around the corner to the local park. The two preschool classes also visit their forest school site, which my son is looking forward to. Overall an amazing nursery and I couldn't imagine my son going anywhere else.

This is the second time using the nursery, 6-years ago it was amazing. My son loved it and got so much from it. The staff were so good with him; nothing has changed. The staff can’t do enough for you; my son is so sad to leave. Would recommend this place to anyone, it’s like a home, you leave them with
no worries as the staff treat them like their own.

Both of my children have been through Ashby Day Nursery, and it was the best decision we ever made. They both thrived in the environment created by the amazing staff that always go the extra mile. The children are never treated as a number. They are treated like family and encouraged to grow and make
their own decisions at every opportunity. The respect and understanding that this ingrained into my kids is amazing. What the nursery lacks in size is made up for by the size of the staff's hearts and the fun in learning that the children experience. The staff have not only become friends but extended family. I couldn't recommend Ashby Day Nursery anymore highly. Outstanding in every aspect, be sad not to be visiting every week.

My daughter has attended Ashby Day for about 2.5 years, changing from unsteady toddler to a boisterous, happy and confident young lady, ready for school. I have nothing but the highest praise for the setting and for the outstanding care provided by the whole team. Friends with children attending other
local settings have often commented to me how impressed they are by the quality of my daughter’s experience. The range of activities and the creativity of the staff staggers me. The small size of the nursery is one of its greatest assets in my view because the environment feels like a family where everyone knows each other well. It has also afforded the flexibility of impromptu trips out to the park, the castle and on nature walks. Weekly forest school sessions have also been fantastic for my daughter’s development and the attention paid to her educational needs and support to help her stretch her curious mind even further has been first class. I could not have hoped for a better start.

Well what can I say about this nursery, words don't say how amazing this nursery is. Also the staff are like family. My little boy went here until he was really for school, also his brother went here and now my other child goes here. I would recommend this nursery all day long, I also have a number
of my friend's children that go here. This is not about your children going to nursery, it's about your children being happy and my children have always been happy going here. If you want your children in a safe place and to be happy and loved, I would definitely send them here.

I am so very happy that I have sent my children to Ashby Day. The atmosphere as soon as you walk in is like a home from home for the children and when the children leave I think I will be genuinely sad that I don't have a reason to go any more! The staff are lovely and brilliant at what they do. I know
that my children feel loved and supported the moment they walk through the doors. Both of my children love going to nursery and get so much out of going, it is such a nurturing environment and they are both progressing really well in their different rooms. They have been fabulous in supporting my little boy who has some motor issues. The support received in this area has been fantastic from all staff involved, especially the SENCO and his keyworker. They really have gone the extra mile to make sure he progresses as he should and been supportive to us as parents too. All in all, it is a great day nursery and I am so glad we picked it.

The nursery is brilliant. My son has been attending for 1 year doing 3 mornings a week. When started he was behind in his development but his key worker has worked amazingly with him and he has made massive progress. All staff are lovely and they care for all children's individual needs and work alongside
parents. The management team are great and always there to speak to if needed. I would highly recommend this nursery.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 10 (9.951) out of 10 for Ashby Nursery School & Preschool Academy is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 22 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.951 for Ashby Nursery School & Preschool Academy is calculated as follows: ( (252 Excellents x 5) + (11 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 264 Ratings = 4.951
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ashby Nursery School & Preschool Academy is based on 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 98 number of registered child places is 19.6, which has been reached with 22 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
