Ashby Nursery School & Pre-school Academy was architecturally designed and purpose-built as a Children’s Day Nursery in 1996, having a simple philosophy of continually aiming to offer the highest levels of childcare for children aged 6 weeks to 5 years.

One of the nursery’s more important features is its policy of only employing fully qualified nursery officers, who all hold a childcare qualification and also have a First Aid and Food Hygiene qualification alongside other professional qualifications.

The nursery also provides three balanced meals freshly prepared each day, including breakfast which is offered to all children arriving before 8.45am. They are members of the Pre-school Learning Alliance, the National Day Nurseries Association and other childcare related associations.

It is a great responsibility to care for children, and therefore their aim is to offer the highest levels of nursery care they possibly can. The owners hope their Prospectus goes some way to illustrate this; however should you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact.

Our daughter has been attending for the last few months now and has settled in fantastically. She always gets excited to go in and always has a smile on her face when we receive updates/pictures via the app. Great activities, fantastic food options. Our daughter has come on leaps and bounds since joining

My son has been going to the nursery since January. Ever since his inductions all the staff have been very welcoming. I feel safe leaving him there knowing he'll be looked after and learning lots of new things. I really enjoy being sent photos throughout the day, also being kept upto date on what he
has eaten and various other activities. If he has been poorly they have notified me immediately.

My boy loves this place so much. We chose it based on reviews here. The nursery is gorgeous and there are so many activities inside and outside. The staff are all amazing and go above and beyond to support children and make their experience a happy one. I was concerned how they'd get our tricky sleeper
to nap but they do it well. If he needs 2 naps or 1 they do it. They're more than happy to take your lead, the staff provide updates via the app and lets us know how he's been. The app is great as you see throughout the day what's been eaten, the nap times are live and you get a picture of an activity your child's enjoyed. You can also send a message to the staff. The food is healthy and varied and the timings for meals are convenient. Even staff in other rooms bond and get to know them. The office staff and management are organised and professional, speedy responses, including invoices being accurate. You don't get this experience in all settings. We have zero regrets about sending him here!

I can’t praise Ashby Day Nursery & Preschool enough.
They go above and beyond for my son who has additional needs. The team are so friendly, welcoming and supportive. The knowledge the team have about supporting my son and ensuring he is happy is far beyond what they are required to know. The staff
are trained to a high level and ensure they follow best practice guidelines.
My eldest attended the nursery when he was younger - now 14 years old, and I am pleased to say they have retained many of the staff that cared for him. For a nursery to retain staff well, it demonstrates to me that it is a positive environment to work and learn in. The nursery has also added to its team with some wonderful individuals, ensuring that practice benefits from fresh ideas and experiences of new staff members. My youngest child is already signed up to start in the summer, as I want him to have the same happy experience as my other two. Honestly can’t praise the staff and management enough.

My experience with Ashby Nursery School & Preschool Academy stems across two of my children; a current child attending the preschool weekly and my eldest who went through the nursery from her early years.
Ashby Nursery is an incredible experience, not just for the children but for the parents too.
As a fairly busy father, Ashby gives me all the information needed to keep tabs on how my children have been during their sessions. Staff are friendly, professional, knowledgeable and best of all, develop strong, friendly relationships with all the kids. I've had the pleasure of dealing with the admin team and the wider Storal team on a number of occasions and each time they're quick to respond and answer any queries - special thanks to a member of staff, in particular, for all of her help with explaining and submitting funding for childcare.
Overall, as a parent with two children who have been through this nursery, you will not be disappointed. Thank you to all the team.

Wonderful nursery. My daughter has been attending nursery since she was ten months old (now 17 months) and has built wonderful relationships with all staff and children in her rooms. She has come on leaps and bounds since starting nursery, and we recommend this setting to all our friends.

Ashby Nursery has been absolutely wonderful at settling my baby. She has been going to nursery from 6 months on a one-day basis and is now building up to three days a week at nine months old. The nursery has been very flexible with us, which has helped my return to work. The staff are so great with
my daughter and have been patient helping her to sleep without being held. They also gave me such reassurance in dealing with my daughter’s allergies. I can’t recommend them enough!

Having only been at nursery since the beginning of August 23, my daughter has settled in so well here! Fabulous ladies who ensure all of her needs are met and are all round lovely! Was very apprehensive going back to work after maternity leave, but this nursery has made the transition so much easier,
knowing she is happy and settled. Would definitely recommend!

It’s coming to the end of time for my second boy at Ashby Day Nursery, as he starts school in September. I am so sad and will miss bringing him in and seeing all the familiar faces of the team who look after him (and also who remember my eldest son they looked after who is now 9).
Nothing has ever
been too much trouble and we have overcome all challenges together as a partnership. Cannot recommend these more highly. Love them to bits xx

Both of our children have been at the preschool and they have loved it so much. Our eldest child still loves going back to visit the staff when we collect his sister. They have become such important parts of our children’s lives. We would recommend the preschool to everybody, it is such a lovely nurturing
environment. Our quiet and shy daughter feels confident enough to share stories and her thoughts and feelings with all of the grown ups who care for her. We will be so sad when she leaves for school, they have become like an extended family!

I have two children at Ashby Nursery School, my almost 3 year old is at the academy and my 1 year old is in the baby room. They both attend 4 days a week.
Not only do both my children love going to nursery both me and my husband can see daily how their development is improving, whether it be language,
maths or even more importantly learning how to be kind and polite.
There is an array of activities and the staff are very caring and attentive.
I’m so pleased we choose Ashby Nursery School & Pre-school Academy.

We can not recommend the nursery enough. Since joining the nursery in the summer, our son has developed so much and we can't believe how much he has progressed being in the environment. The staff are fantastic at noticing likes/dislikes and building engaging activities to enhance their enjoyment. From
the start, we felt so comfortable leaving him as we knew he enjoyed being there and would be well looked after by everyone. The staff are absolutely fantastic, polite, engaging and everyone in the nursery goes out of their way to make the children feel welcomed and loved whilst there.

I could not be happier with Ashby Pre-school Academy. I have moved my daughter from another nursery in Ashby having had a few problems but I am just so pleased with the way my daughter has settled and the friendly staff at drop off and pick up. They really go the extra mile. Parents evening was a hit
and I could tell that my daughter's key person really knew her well and was genuinely interested in her development and interests. I love their pedagogy, the way it is very much child-led learning! The communication between nursery and home is excellent too, I always know what is going on and what events are coming up soon. Big thumbs up from us!

A highly recommended nursery, both of my boys thoroughly enjoy their time there. My youngest is in the baby room and once I hand him over he is greeted with such love and warmth. I couldn't ask for anything more. They keep you updated every day and you have a thorough handover from your key worker.
My little one loves the cuddles from the staff and getting messy. My eldest one is in preschool and once again a brilliant atmosphere, he loves it that much he runs in and forgets about me. I am glad that he feels so comfortable and confident there, he puts his slippers on and he enjoys the day. I also love the app to which the nursery load pictures of achievements and activities. A nursery, I would highly recommend without a doubt.

Kerry

Kerry Nettel

Job Title: Nursery Manager Joined: 2008

Kerry began working at Ashby Nursery School 15 years ago after completing her student placement there. She gained her foundation degree in Children’s and Young People’s Services (Early Years) and worked her way up to nursery manager. Kerry also has a Forest School qualification and loves being outdoors. Kerry encourages the team to adopt a hands-on approach, as she feels that this is the best way for children to learn.


In 2022, Kerry was awarded Nursery Practitioner of the Year at the NMT awards which was one of many highlights of her career so far.
