Elmdon Day Nursery is a privately owned nursery established in 2004. The nursery is single storey and all the rooms have safety gates, not doors, which gives the nursery an open friendly atmosphere.
There is a small car park at the front.

The nursery caters for all children from birth to five years, with each age group having its own dedicated staff and rooms. Each area is colourful and bright with children's work on display, artistic wall/window murals and plentiful toys and resources. It also has a large, private outdoor area which has a sensory room, mud kitchen, giant sandpit plus lots of space for ride on toys, climbing frames and balancing beams.

The staff plan weekly themes, fun days and charity events to ensure all children have a stimulating and safe environment in which to learn and develop. To compliment this, it has professionals who give music and dance sessions four times a week, which parents can opt their children into. Leapfrog sports and football sessions are also provided.

The setting is part of the Startwell Healthy Lifestyle programme and children have a healthy diet and lots of daily exercise. The nursery can cater for different diets.

To keep parents informed, there is a closed Facebook Group, email system plus newsletters and an annual parents evening. More information can be found on their website.

It offers two, three- and four-year-old funding subject to availability and accepts nursery vouchers and registered for the Gov.t tax free childcare scheme. The nursery was rated 'Good' in all areas during the latest Ofsted inspection (April 2018).

My son has attended Elmdon Day Nursery since he was 5 months old. He is now almost 3 and has been happy to go in every single day. (Some days I don't even get a goodbye!)


The staff are all lovely and really attentive. They work incredibly hard to keep improving the learning environment for the children

and to get the children involved in different activities. The outside area is just fantastic and it is great seeing the children move around so confidently.


It has such a relaxed, homely feel that you never feel afraid to speak to anyone, no matter what it may be about. As a parent, I always feel welcome.

We joined the nursery last year after excellent recommendations from friends and family. We are extremely happy with our choice, our daughter loves her days at nursery and does so many activities that she wouldn't otherwise be doing at home, like sand play, glitter and painting. She always eats her
lunch and is kept refuelled with lots of healthy snacks and water. The staff really look after the children's individual needs and encourage them. We have noticed a huge development leap since introducing her to a more educational environment.
There is always a good staff: child ratio and the staff are always very friendly, helpful and accommodating to our needs and lifestyle as a family.
Good rate as well, some others that we looked at were a lot more expensive and didn't have as good am Ofsted rating as Elmdon.
Very happy and would 100% recommend!

My daughter has been going to this nursery since she was one year old. Like any parent, I was terrified of leaving her with strangers. I was quickly put at ease when I met the girls who would be looking after her, they spoke about the children with sincerity and genuine affection. In this day and age,
childcare could be a cold industry with professionals afraid to show affection and love. I was assured that with complete certainty when she started that if she was upset, she would have a hug. Now she is three and a half and loves preschool. She was poorly for the first time today, and when I was phoned to go and collect her, she hugged one of the staff and said "love you, you are my best friend" and she genuinely does... the employee replied "awww I love you too sweetie". Thank you to all the ladies for looking after my child and allowing her to feel safe, loved and secure. I can go to work and keep my sanity. Strongly recommend!

After checking a few nurseries, we chose Elmdon Day Nursery for our child. We were very worried as our son is only 1 year old, but they are taking care of our son so nicely and we are very pleased. The staff are very friendly and always cuddle our son and the nursery is so homely. They know our son's

My two grandchildren have been attending Elmdon Day Nursery for the last two to three years. They absolutely love going there and have made lots of friends.
The staff are excellent, they provide a kind, caring environment for the children. There are lots of activities for them both indoor and outdoor
including sports and music and they can't wait to tell us about all the fun they've had there at the end of each day as well as what they've learnt.

Our daughter is almost two and has been attending Elmdon for the last 12 months. I cannot say enough good things about our experience and the high level of care she has received during that time. Every day she gets to do so many creative things in spaces which are equally imaginative and constantly
being updated and changed to reflect the focus themes and children's interests.
She gets to spend lots of time having fun outdoors and as a result, is developing a real love of nature and physical activities. The staff are all so warm, welcoming and genuine, always making time to talk through what our little girl has been up to during the day. There is a real ethos of learning through having fun, feeling safe and happy and becoming a kind, caring, resilient little person. We are so happy we found Elmdon; fantastic staff, fantastic nursery. Thank you!

I'm a first-time mum and struggled with trusting people with my daughter, including nurseries, but since she's been here she's learnt so much and she's happy to go there.
In the morning she doesn't cry anymore or cling on to me for dear life which to me is a sign that she is being treated very well.
She has learned new words and developed friendships with some other kids there. I like how they update us with pictures via a private Facebook page, which is reassuring when I'm at work and worried about her. The staff are very lovely and make an effort with talking to the parents and to learn little things about your child.

Both of my children have attended Elmdon Day Nursery. My Son went to Elmdon from Sep 2012-Aug 2015. He had a fantastic time and his development progressed greatly. There was no question when choosing a nursery for my daughter where she would go.


My Daughter started in April this year. She has settled

in fantastically. The staff are friendly and approachable. There is a daily feedback sheet for the babies so that you know what they have been doing each day. There are lots of activities to keep the children entertained. My Daughter also thoroughly enjoys her dance session once a week (an extra charge is payable). Communication with the staff is excellent. There is also a closed Facebook group (for parents only) with regular updates and pictures of the children’s activities.


I can’t recommend Elmdon Day Nursery enough! My children love it here and it is so comforting to know that they are happy when I am at work. Thank you to everyone at EDN!

Fantastic nursery, staff are brilliant and nothing is ever to much trouble. I can leave my son knowing he is in good hands and he has come on so much since being there. Well done to the manager and all the staff there for all there continued hard work.

My two-year-old twins recently joined the nursery after being recommended by a friend and we are delighted with how they have settled in. They are very happy at nursery.

All of the staff at Elmdon are so lovely. My little boy has quite often pulled at my heartstrings when I have left him in the morning (as I’m positive most kids do) but they have dealt with the situation with compassion, professionalism and care. He goes in like a pro now.
He loves all the activities
and quite often tells me all about the varied things he does. By Wednesday night he’s shattered!
I love seeing the things he gets up to and his scrapbook is so lovely.
Thanks for the help and encouragement with potty training too.

Our four-year-old daughter has attended Elmdon Nursery since she was eighteen months old. The nursery was recommended to us by a friend whose child also attended.


Elmdon is a fantastic nursery and our daughter has come on amazingly well, thanks to the brilliant staff. I have also recommended this

nursery to friends who now have their children there. They have regular dance and singing classes which my daughter loves, and she is always bringing home cards, pictures etc that they have made.


I have also found the owner to be very approachable, flexible and very understanding and has always gone out of her way to help.


Our recently newborn daughter will also be attending once I go back to work next year. I wouldn't have even considered anywhere else!

This nursery is absolutely fantastic. The team there are quickly becoming a second family. They are lovely and welcoming and adhere to any change of routine or requests without question. My son has developed way ahead of his age, and it's with the help of this nursery and the team, that he has become
so intelligent. I couldn't recommend it enough. The owner has always made my ever-changing schedule easy to comply with, and without any hesitation will make any necessary changes to suit mine and my son's needs, as well as my working hours. I am so glad she could find a place for my son here because I wouldn't want him anywhere else. Thanks to the team at Elmdon Day and keep up the amazing work!

Absolutely fabulous nursery. The staff are amazing. My little girl had problems at a previous nursery with potty training, so I moved her to this one as it was recommended. I was nervous at first with it being larger than her previous one, but they were amazing, she was clean within a few weeks - they
are so kind and nurturing. My daughter loves it, could not be happier. They do so much with them indoors and outdoors, crafts, singing, Mud kitchen, these are just a few. I owe them my peace of mind in knowing my little girl is well looked after.

My two-year-old daughter has been here since January 2017, after being at a different nursery. She has come on in leaps and bounds and is always talking about nursery. She always comes home telling me about new things she has learnt, and what toys she has played with. She has grown so much and knows
so much for her age. The staff are all amazing with her and look after her fantastically. As a full-time working mom, it gives me comfort that she is learning so much and loves going to nursery. Couldn't recommend this nursery enough.

What can I say? I send my daughter to the best nursery in the Birmingham area. That nursery is Elmdon Day! The staff here are amazing. So friendly and I always feel safe and happy for my daughter to be in their care. My daughter has now joined preschoolers and her hours have increased dramatically due
to thirty hours funding. She wakes up every morning excited to go to "preschool" and loves her little preschool uniform. It will make the transition to a school uniform in September so much easier. Her social and learning skills have improved so much and that's all down to the fantastic staff.
I highly recommend this nursery and wouldn't send her anywhere else!

My eldest son has been at Elmdon since July 2015, it will be a sad day for us both when he goes to school next year! It has honestly been fab for him. The staff are all so helpful and really do know your child!
I love how the nursery is always introducing new things; additional bungalow for pre-school,
leapfrog sports sessions and jungle room to name a few.
Communication is good, both from chatting to staff and facebook group posts/emails. I always feel like I know what my children have been doing/eating/learning about.
My youngest joined at seven months old and settled great. He had an intolerance to dairy and this was accommodated by the staff with ease.
Sometimes he now has a little cry when we are going home, he enjoys playing in the baby room so much!
Cannot imagine my two going elsewhere, Elmdon has been so accommodating.
Early 7.30am drop off is ideal for us and we leave for work with complete peace of mind knowing that our children are cared for and enjoying themselves.

My eldest has just left Elmdon Day Nursery. He has left a very polite, caring, gentle boy and I believe that the nursery has helped this. My youngest is still in there and with the help of all the staff confidently toilet training, both boys have excelled in the care. The nursery is always clean and
tidy, food is great, grounds are amazing now with two cottages for the preschoolers. I can't see this being anything but positive. I particularly love the fact that Elmdon encourages outdoor play, having two boys, I know they're always outside. There are a variety of extra lessons and classes you can choose to pay for for the children. The music class is a popular one in our house. If I am destined to have any more children I will not hesitate in getting them a space at Elmdon.
My youngest misses his big brother being at nursery now, but the staff are so understanding, loving and caring towards the kids that I never leave them feeling guilty because I know the girls are some of the best nursery nurses around.

My three-year-old daughter has been at Elmdon Daycare five days a week since she was six months old. We received daily forms advising of nap times, the food she had eaten, and the activities she had done during her day until she moved out of the baby room. We are so pleased with how confident she is,
the daycare has definitely helped her throughout all of her milestones.
The garden is spacious with loads of toys for the children to play with. My three year old has come home with so many pictures and cards for me and my husband. Her scrapbook is full and we have parents evening to look at her book and discuss her progress.
My husband and I are very grateful for all of the support and help we and my daughter have been given. The team at Elmdon Daycare are brilliant, attentive, friendly and readily available if you want to chat about anything. They made the transition for me returning to work easier because my daughter was so happy at daycare. Her little sister will be joining full time in January as well.

Excellent nursery and very friendly staff, I feel so comfortable leaving both my children in their care. Feedback forms and facebook page allow excellent communication and enable me to discuss or copy activities at home. Plenty of variety and extra resource/classes available. Staff are really easy to
talk to and very supportive, adapting to each child's character and needs. My children are always happy to know we are going to nursery, in fact sometimes too happy. They have plenty of friends and learn so much. They are always doing different themes like holidays, transport, animals, numbers. My son's group all take it in turns to read to each other. They are always evolving and creating new games/activities and play areas. Weather permitting and any opportunity they have the children play outdoors, which I love. They celebrate all the festivals and make everything fun. Elmdon is our second family. We love them.
