Elmdon Day Nursery is a privately owned nursery established in 2004. The nursery is single storey and all the rooms have safety gates, not doors, which gives the nursery an open friendly atmosphere.
There is a small car park at the front.

The nursery caters for all children from birth to five years, with each age group having its own dedicated staff and rooms. Each area is colourful and bright with children's work on display, artistic wall/window murals and plentiful toys and resources. It also has a large, private outdoor area which has a sensory room, mud kitchen, giant sandpit plus lots of space for ride on toys, climbing frames and balancing beams.

The staff plan weekly themes, fun days and charity events to ensure all children have a stimulating and safe environment in which to learn and develop. To compliment this, it has professionals who give music and dance sessions four times a week, which parents can opt their children into. Leapfrog sports and football sessions are also provided.

The setting is part of the Startwell Healthy Lifestyle programme and children have a healthy diet and lots of daily exercise. The nursery can cater for different diets.

To keep parents informed, there is a closed Facebook Group, email system plus newsletters and an annual parents evening. More information can be found on their website.

It offers two, three- and four-year-old funding subject to availability and accepts nursery vouchers and registered for the Gov.t tax free childcare scheme. The nursery was rated 'Good' in all areas during the latest Ofsted inspection (April 2018).

My two children (4 & 18 months) attend Elmdon day nursery and absolutely love their time they spend at nursery. My 4-year-old is sometimes sensitive about going into nursery but the staff handle it wonderfully and always put him at ease before he enters nursery (and by offering a sticker or biscuit
as a little treat. All the staff are professional and helpful at all times. The nursery is always clean and tidy and there are plenty of toys and activities set up for the children to play with.
Reply from Tracey Deol, Manager at Elmdon Day NurseryThank you Laura. It has been lovely to watch your son grow and develop and now we can do the same with your daughter. Time passes too quickly.

My children absolutely adore Elmdon. My son left last August to start reception and still talks about his time there. My daughter still attends and she loves her time at nursery. The owner and staff are amazing with the children, they are so accommodating and treat each child as individuals. I'm so
glad I found this nursery. My children are wonderful little people and I can't thank Elmdon enough for their influences.

My daughter started this nursery and she was really difficult to settle, lots of tears and resistance! The staff at Elmdon were very reassuring and would update me on how she was (always fine the second I left!) and were consistent with her until she felt comfortable. She now really enjoys her time
here and walks in without a look back. The nursery staff takes time to get to know the children and their likes/dislikes. There is lots of fun to be had here and Tapestry is used to keep you updated on your child's nursery activities.
Reply from Tracey Deol, Manager at Elmdon Day NurseryThank you Carly and fantastic to see the change in your daughter, she now owns the place.

My daughter settled into nursery straight away and absolutely loves going. She always runs into nursery with a smile. The staff have been wonderful with her and treat her with so much warmth and care. It feels like a big community where all of the staff in the nursery get to know the children and the
children mix and interact. My daughter is happy, confident and secure at this nursery.
Reply from Tracey Deol, Manager at Elmdon Day NurseryThank you. Your daughter, as usual, came running in this morning and then took charge of a pram - she definitely needs steering lessons.

My little girl started at Elmdon Day Nursery in July and was upset for quite a while at drop-offs having spent so much time with me during maternity leave. I was anxious about whether she would settle, but the girls assured me that she would in time. Sure enough, to our huge relief, she did. It is wonderful
to see her making friends whose names she has learnt and tells us all about at home. The staff have decided to move our daughter up to the twoonies recently, and even though she is not yet two, we fully support this decision as she seems very ready to progress to this next level. I have confidence that she will soon settle into the new environment and am excited to hear about the new activities she will be taking part in. We love all of the crafts made at nursery and brought home - they all take the pride of place on display. The daily updates on the parents' app are always very welcome too. The staff are really personable and work very hard looking after all of the children in their care.
Reply from Tracey Deol at Elmdon Day NurseryThank you, Melissa and your daughter has already learnt most of her new friend's names !!

Both my kids are very happy at Elmdon Day Nursery, only this morning both my 4-year-old and the 21-month-old happily walked in on their own – that just shows that they are looking forward to meeting their friends and taking part in all the activities going on during the day. Most days we get a drawing/painting
in their bags from that day. I really like the online platform where we get notifications of meals/activities/sleep times and can read requests too. When my kids were younger and they were clingy in the morning (can still happen occasionally) there was always someone looking out for us and the situation and they took over quickly offering a cuddle or an activity so I could rush to work. Email communication is very good too, prompt responses from the nursery, taking suggestions requests into account.

Elmdon Day Nursery is an excellent child care centre. All members of staff are attentive to the child's needs, tremendous rapport with the children and great feedback given to parents. The nursery is kept clean and tidy at all times. I'm extremely happy my child goes to this nursery, he is a very lucky
boy to receive such good care.

My 2-year-old daughter loves going to nursery; she attends Elmdon Day Nursery for one full day and two mornings. All the staff are warm, understanding and encouraging. Since starting the nursery, my daughter has grown in confidence. I feel happy knowing I’m leaving her in a safe, clean environment with
staff who genuinely care for her.

This is a brilliant nursery with staff who genuinely care about your child.
Their emphasis is on play and keeping the children active and children are encouraged to play outside at every possible time without compromising on the other learning such as reading and counting. Highly recommended.

This is my child's second year at Elmdon Nursery and we are very happy with the way things have gone. She enjoys all her aspects of nursery going from all the staff through to the activities she takes part in. She gets involved with dancing on a Thursday which she thoroughly enjoys. A particular member
of staff was very helpful with settling her in when she started as she was very clingy towards us but with the help of the other staff as well within a couple of weeks she couldn’t wait to go there each morning. Would recommend this nursery to anyone who is looking into child care. Thanks to all the staff.

I couldn’t recommend this nursery more. My daughter has only been here for three weeks and you can already tell the difference in her attitude. She always comes home so happy and she is becoming so much more confident in herself. All the girls that work there are so lovely and caring. They really do
go above and beyond.

Elmdon Day Nursery is the best, I cannot speak highly enough of all the staff and what a wonderful homely environment it is. They are so caring and look after the children brilliantly, not only that but in an emergency, they are all very well trained. When my son had an accident they all looked after
him until I got there and I felt at ease that they were with him. I absolutely love everyone there and I would 100% recommend this nursery. Elmdon is small but I prefer this because it means the staff know your child better than getting lost in a big nursery. I love you all, thank you.

My daughter has been attending this nursery since May 2018. She started in the baby room and is just moving into twoonies. She absolutely loves it here. Was excited to go every morning and ran in smiling without looking back (most days). The staff are wonderful and you feel extremely comfortable and
assured that your child is in good care. My child really took to the staff giving them big loves every day. I viewed three other nurseries before deciding and the staff, the layout and the garden sold this one. The manager manages the nursery really well it's always clean and organised and daily childcare reports are always received along with photos and observations. Thank you all.

What can I say, I think it's the best nursery on this side of Bham. We had to relocate our child from the nursery which has closed down some time ago, we actually moved our baby girl from there before they closed down. Anyway, our daughter adjusted beautifully to the new scenery, the staff made her
very welcome and she couldn't be more happy. They have a lot of activities for all the kids in there, every day they come up with something else, which is great. We love the place and most importantly our daughter can't wait to go back there every day during the week, I think that speaks for itself. Thank you.

The best decision I ever made for my daughter was to send her to Elmdon Day Nursery. I trust the entire team fully with my daughter, she has so much fun, she loves attending and has turned into an amazing little girl, and the team at Elmdon have made a massive contribution to that over the last 2 years+.
My intention is to keep my daughter at this nursery until she starts school and at this point, I know Elmdon will have fully prepped her (and more) so that she is ready for the classroom! What I love so much about Elmdon is the team all know each child personally, they’re all so welcoming and personable and friendly! The owner/manager is always looking at ways of improving which is really admirable and exciting. I can’t thank them enough. Highly recommend.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.934)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.934) out of 10 for Elmdon Day Nursery is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 28 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 28 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.934 for Elmdon Day Nursery is calculated as follows: ( (311 Excellents x 5) + (22 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 333 Ratings = 4.934
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Elmdon Day Nursery is based on 28 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 65 number of registered child places is 13, which has been reached with 28 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
