Kings Castle Montessori Nursery School has been providing quality childcare since 1997. In October 2023, the nursery was awarded a "Good" rating in all categories in their Ofsted inspection.

The nursery offers children a happy, safe and nurturing environment where staff support and encourage children to learn and develop to their full potential.

Kings Castle is located in Tuckton, Bournemouth and is ideally situated for children from Littledown, Southbourne, Christchurch and Boscombe.

The nursery welcomes children aged 0-5, offering flexible sessions, funded places, separate rooms for babies, toddlers and pre-school, dedicated sleep rooms and a fully enclosed garden with play area, outdoor classroom and toddler garden.

Children aged 2+ can also attend KINGS LODGE, the nature-based annexe on Tuckton Meadow. Kings Lodge offers an abundance of outdoor, nature-based activities .

A team of skilled and professional staff follow the Montessori approach to provide children with a calm and stimulating environment where they can build confidence and independence, explore their interests, make new friendships and be ready for all that life has in store for them.

Our FULL-TIME rate for non-funded children is £8.75 per hour.

Kings Castle Montessori Nursery offers a range of simple, all-inclusive premium packages for children attending 36. 40. 45 or 49 hours per week.

We offer in person show-arounds year-round and we welcome new children year-round (subject to availability).


Consumables charge – A non-mandatory consumables charge of £1.75 applies to each funded hour. The consumables charge allows us to provide your child with an environment, experiences and services which are above the normal requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) or which are not covered by Early Years Funding for example activities such as cookery, gardening, music & movement, yoga, weekly sessions at Kings Lodge Nature Nursery (for over 2’s), outings and special cultural, seasonal and celebratory events, snacks, sun cream, wipes, nappy bags, blankets, face cloths, downloadable learning / photo journal, in person parents’ evenings. Please note that the consumables charge does not apply to paid hours.

Kings Castle has been a massive part of our lives and most importantly the development of our beautiful daughter. She has been in their care since she was 12 months old. She is now 4 and she has grown to be a polite, inquisitive, intelligent and healthy little girl.
The staff are so caring, and they
help the children develop by encouraging their own interests so the kids remain engaged and entertained whilst learning everything they need to, to prepare them for the next stages of their lives.
The staff were also hugely supportive (and flexible) when I was diagnosed with cancer. They went above and beyond to help my family and I get through such a horrific situation.
I genuinely cannot recommend them highly enough and it will be a sad day when our daughter has to move on to the next stage of her schooling.

As soon as we walked into Kings Castle, we knew we had found the best. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly which made us feel at ease and confident to leave our child in their care. The Montessori approach to teaching and caring for each individual child is amazing to see, not just in my daughter
but all the children that attend Kings Castle.
All the staff at Kings Castle are kind, caring, compassionate and creative. A perfect environment for any child to develop.

This is, in my view, a truly outstanding nursery, which gives all children the very best values, skills and knowledge which are vitally needed to improve and progress each day. The managers and staff are all extremely helpful, and always on hand and to offer any tips/advice where required. Both my son
and daughter regularly attend this nursery, and they have developed far more than I could have managed myself.

My little boy has been at Kings Castle for just over three years and we absolutely love it! The calm, nurturing environment is a fantastic place for children to learn and play and safely make mistakes. The Montessori teaching element has ensured that my son is independent, respectful and enquiring and
it has helped him to be ready for his next step up to school. All the staff are lovely and nothing is too much trouble. I'd definitely recommend this nursery.

My son goes to nursery full time and he started in the baby room. The early years are crucial in his physical, mental, and behavioural development. Kings Castle have played a vital role in this. when he started in the baby room, his routine was followed as closely as possible, he enjoyed taking part
in activities. I always had the feeling that the nursery staff really knew him well, like we knew him at home. We got lots of feedback daily. His transition to the toddler room was a challenging time for him because he was being taken out of his comfort zone. I worked closely with the management and staff to make sure we are reading all the signs and do everything that was needed. I got reassurance and feedback from staff when I needed. As a result, he settled in really well and now goes in dancing. He is a caring, courteous and helpful little boy, who loves to tidy up, says ta, opening doors, taking turns, sharing, rescuing bees... and Kings Castle have a major role to play in that.

I cannot recommend Kings Castle Montessory Nursery School highly enough. All the staff have been extremely supportive, loving and nurturing with my son throughout his time there. He has absolutely thrived in the environment. I am looking forward to my daughter starting at the setting soon as well.

Both of my children have attended Kings and I have been extremely happy with the care they have received. They have both thrived and made long lasting friendships and relationships with the staff. The variety of activities that they carry out with the children on a day to day basis is great and the
building itself is spacious and well kept. The outside facilities are great too.

Cannot fault this nursery my daughter is 2 years and 6 months and has been coming here for the last 6 months and she loves it.
She always wants to go off and happily play each time I drop her off and the staff are so welcoming and very friendly. Everybody who works here always seems to be happy and
interested in my little girl's weekend etc. They are so encouraging with getting them to put on their own shoes and coats on, do up zips and buttons and also doing things for themselves.
I’ve noticed a big change in such a small time and she really loves going to nursery. Definitely, recommend taking your child here, I am so pleased with this nursery!

They care and have seen through 2 of our children.
Both our children love it there and have become creative happy individuals and are doing fantastically at school.


I cannot recommend King Castle More. The staff are lovely and treat each child with love and attention.

My daughter registered with this nursery for the last few months, once a week, however, we never received any evidence about her progress there. Occasionally staff provide some comments, but you have to really dig for it. Also, suddenly my child started crying as soon as she saw nursery staff, so not
even sure what happened, so we made a decision to stop with them and are now waiting for the place in another nursery. We were shocked even more when we enquired about contract termination, their reply to us was that they saw it coming. So I assume they just push children away by their attitude. After my experience, I can’t recommend this place.

Unfortunately, due to our long waiting list, we were unable to facilitate your child attending any more than one session a week. Before you started here, we did discuss that not all children are able to cope with coming only one day a week, and in our experience they struggled to settle as quickly as children attending more frequently, which is why we recommend children attend a minimum of two, but preferably three sessions a week. A few weeks before you left, you asked whether we had any extra sessions available, which, unfortunately we did not as we are fully booked until next year.
It was not a surprise to us when you made the decision to take her out due to her clearly not settling in terribly well and your reluctance to leave her at drop-off. We did advise you that she did calm once you had left, but I understand it is difficult to trust us saying that when the relationship between parents and setting is such a new and underdeveloped one. The team working with your daughter tried very hard to help her settle and she had been beginning to form bonds with two particular members of staff.
As you left with immediate effect, we were not able to have your child’s learning journal ready for her last day. These documents will be sent to you at the end of term.
We are very sorry you have been disappointed by our care of your daughter and wish her every success in her new nursery.

My daughter has attended this setting for the past year and a half. It is a lovely spacious setting, the children are happy and the staff friendly. They have great communication with parents including regular setting updates, work folders you can review and regular parents evenings. The team are always
ready if you have any queries and are genuinely caring towards the children. My daughter has thrived and is extremely happy there.

My eldest daughter and my youngest daughter went to and still is attending Kings Castle Montessori Nursery. From the very first day my eldest went in, all the staff were supportive, warm, communicative, caring and sympathetic. The premises are clean, modern, inviting and safe for the children - the
list could go on!
They supported and encouraged both my girls who are very different characters, in every way possible and it really shows.
I would gladly recommend Kings Castle to any of my friends, family and colleagues and from what I’ve seen and heard so far they are the best nursery around.

Kings Castle Montessori Nursery is a fantastic nursery. Both of my two daughters attended the nursery, my youngest of which is still there. The staff are great and always so dedicated to ensuring that the children receive the best care and attention they can receive. I’ve always been amazed with the
progress in learning my children have made whilst in attendance at Kings Castle and I would thoroughly recommend this nursery to others looking at finding a place for their little ones.

An excellent nursery that I would highly recommend. My 4 year old is in his last few months there after being there since 9 months old. He has come on leaps and bounds. The staff are excellent and the setting is excellent. I'm sad it's soon coming to an end as he starts school.

My daughter has been at Kings Castle for 2 years and has loved every minute of it. Having viewed other nurseries in Southbourne I was apprehensive as to whether I would find somewhere. I then viewed Kings Castle and immediately knew this is where my daughter should go. The staff gave me all the information
I needed without me having to ask. The rooms are organised and uncluttered making it easy for the children to see what is available. All equipment/books etc are in great and clean condition.
My daughter has learnt so much at KingsCastle and I always feel confident that she is cared for, motivated and inspired every day she spends there. But above all I know she is safe.
The monthly feedback form ensures the nursery knows about key events, milestones and things parents are working on at home. My daughter's key worker is amazing and always makes time to give updates or have a general catch up/progress update.
I cannot recommend them highly enough.

Amanda

Amanda Preston

Job Title: Nursery Manager Joined: 2010

Amanda has been at Kings Castle for over 12 years and has progressed from working in the Lulworth Pre-School Room to Deputy Manager and now Nursery Manager, for the past 5 years.


Amanda was a parent of King's Castle and when the time came for her son to move on to a big school, Amanda couldn't leave King's behind.


She found a deep love and passion for Montessori, which she studied at a nearby college.


Amanda is also the Designated Safeguarding Lead, Health and Safety lead and Fire Marshall.

Beckie

Beckie Dolan

Job Title: Deputy Manager Joined: 2008

Beckie has been at Kings Castle for 15 years and has progressed from a Level 3 Early Years Practitioner to Toddler Room Supervisor and Deputy Manager.


Beckie is also a Scout Leader outside of the nursery and has extensive knowledge of outdoor learning activities and group learning activities as well as an abundance of enthusiasm for Early Years!

Fabiana

Fabiana Vieira - Tao

Job Title: Lulworth Pre-School Room Supervisor Joined: 2012

Fabiana has been at Kings Castle for 11 years now and has progressed from working in the Pre-School as a Montessori Directress, to Room Supervisor.


Fab has a Montessori Diploma from a nearby college.
Fab also has 2 children of her own, one of whom currently attends the nursery.

Calum

Calum Smith

Job Title: Kings Lodge Manager Joined: 2016

Calum has been at the nursery for over 7 years now and has progressed from a Montessori Director in the Lulworth Pre-School Room, to Room Supervisor and now Manager of Kings Lodge.


Calum holds a degree in Primary Education and a QTS (Qualifies teacher status) gained from the University of Northampton.


Calum is also an "SEN Representative" and works closely with the nursery SENCO to support children at Kings Lodge.
