Kings Castle Montessori Nursery School has been providing quality childcare since 1997. In October 2023, the nursery was awarded a "Good" rating in all categories in their Ofsted inspection.

The nursery offers children a happy, safe and nurturing environment where staff support and encourage children to learn and develop to their full potential.

Kings Castle is located in Tuckton, Bournemouth and is ideally situated for children from Littledown, Southbourne, Christchurch and Boscombe.

The nursery welcomes children aged 0-5, offering flexible sessions, funded places, separate rooms for babies, toddlers and pre-school, dedicated sleep rooms and a fully enclosed garden with play area, outdoor classroom and toddler garden.

Children aged 2+ can also attend KINGS LODGE, the nature-based annexe on Tuckton Meadow. Kings Lodge offers an abundance of outdoor, nature-based activities .

A team of skilled and professional staff follow the Montessori approach to provide children with a calm and stimulating environment where they can build confidence and independence, explore their interests, make new friendships and be ready for all that life has in store for them.

Kings Castle has been a fantastic nursery for my son. They have helped build his confidence and focussed on him as an individual, providing him with learning relevant to his needs. It's a friendly and welcoming environment. ALL of the staff are friendly and always say hello to me and each of my children
when we arrive. You can also see the staff have a real camaraderie between them and enjoy working together. Which no doubt is the foundation for a happy and effective setting for the children who go there.
My son's key worker even gave me ideas (which worked!) for a medical problem based on information provided to her by other parents.
They go out of their way to help you. Very impressed.

Thoroughly recommended. Excellent staff, go out of their way to make each child feel special and important and leave with confidence. All three of our children have been very happy there and we have felt well supported for 7 years.

My child has really enjoyed his time at nursery and I know he will miss it when he goes to school.


It has been such a welcoming place and staff really care and nurture the children. I have seen my child blossom while he has been there. He talks with great excitement about all the activities he has

done each day.


His key worker has been fantastic, they always respond to any questions we may have and regularly provide feedback on my child's progress. All the staff are extremely kind and passionate. The nursery is very well and safely run with excellent management staff.

Both my sons have attended Kings Castle and both have absolutely thrived!!!!!! I can't recommend this nursery enough, the staff and management are AMAZING!!!!!! My children have learnt so much and have gained far more than they ever would have done at home.

Our eldest son started at Kings Castle in the baby room in Sept 2014 when he was 9 months old. He settled almost immediately and took to the supportive and caring staff very quickly. All the staff were extremely welcoming and were always supportive of our parenting techniques and our son's routine from
the outset. He is now 3.5 yrs and thoroughly enjoys the Montessori teaching methods in the Lulworth rooms, which he finds really engaging. We believe that his impressive imagination and incredible thirst for knowledge has been greatly encouraged by these methods. Our youngest son started at Kings in Feb 2017 and has also taken to the baby room very quickly. There have been a number of staff changes over the years, but they have always been well communicated and supported. We have always found the management to be positive and welcoming. I would (and do) highly recommend Kings to other parents.

Using the nursery for 10 months now for my 22-month old, extremely happy with it as is my daughter, although large it feels very personal with a friendly greeting every day from the manager and my daughter's ongoing development speaks for itself.

We have been using Kings Castle Nursery since 2012 and have been thoroughly impressed throughout this time. My eldest daughter left the nursery last year to start school and she was very well equipped and prepared for her reception year. Our youngest is currently in the toddler room and is thriving
there. The nursery has encouraged both my children to be independent and I am always amazed at what they have both learnt there. From daily activities such as putting on coats and shoes to creative projects including baking and painting, all activities are very well planned and tailored to the individuals. Staff are friendly, caring, approachable and always seem genuinely interested in the children. I have recommended the nursery to several friends and colleagues and will continue to do so. I will be really sad when my youngest leaves the nursery as the staff have become a big part of our children's lives, our eldest still loves to visit and talk to the staff!

I have found the care provided by Kings Castle to be very thoughtful and has been well adapted to each of my children's needs.


The staff are always accessible to feedback on the day and management are friendly and happy to answer questions and provide advice. I feel very happy with the relationship

that we, as parents, have with the nursery. I have had full trust in the staff to look after each of my children.


I have been particularly impressed with the nursery's response to my concerns around my child's speech development. Staff have been happy to undertake additional observation and provide regular written feedback on progress on any support given. The key worker's oversight of this is well informed and sensitively carried out. I couldn't have asked for any more support than has been given.


I have recommended Kings Castle to friends and family and will continue to do so.

Both our children attended Kings Castle. My son was well prepared for school with letter sounds and shapes and confident with numbers. My daughter will be leaving in the next month and again is ready for school.
The staff at Kings Castle are expert in how children develop and use effective strategies
that work for individual children. They are caring and also help develop social skills and communication.
Whenever I have had a question or concern it has been dealt with quickly and in a professional and supportive manner.
Parents evenings are particularly useful for more detailed conversations with key workers.
The nursery and staff have been a vital part of our children's lives and we are very grateful for all the work they do.

This has given my son more confidence and brought out the best in him. They have taught him well through play and activities which he loves when out in the garden and play garden, he enjoys painting and the nature of the animals they have in the class room. The men and women that look after him are
really kind and have their best interests in all the children. Highly recommend. Lovely secure place.

As an early years provision, I couldn't have wished for a better placement for my daughter. It is wonderful to know that your child's personalised needs are catered for and that they really know your child and how to move them on as well as engage them.
Their approach to life long learning means everyday
life skills are valued and achieved in a creative way. My daughter has just finished her time here but has been prepared so that she is more than ready to face 'big' school. The staff are always friendly and approachable and there isn't anything that is too much trouble. Her key worker was incredibly informative about her development and her next steps. My daughter used to talk with great enthusiasm about what she had been learning. During her time here she experienced the loss of her Nanny. I couldn't praise Kings any higher for how they supported her and us as a family during this difficult time.

The nursery was recommended to us a year ago and our son has come through the baby room and is now in the toddler room.


From the beginning, we have been extremely pleased with the quality of conversations and interactions with all staff and management, the educational approach and feedback on what

our son has been doing each day.


Communication from the nursery is excellent; whether emails, parents evenings or phone calls. Where I have needed extra dietary support requests have been respected and the staff have gone out of their way to reassure us they have listened.


Our son is thriving in this environment, he looks forward to nursery and regularly says the names of his key workers and other team members. The staff seem to enjoy the working environment and there seems to be very little turnover.

This is the 2nd year my twins have been at Kings Castle.
They come home full of excitement and with many things to tell me about the activities completed throughout the day. The staff are polite and engage with the children as soon as they enter the setting.
There are lots of different areas for
play, inside and out.
My twins were particularly fussy when it came to meal times. They have slowly learnt to try new foods and now eat things I never thought they would. I think this is down to the patience of the staff, encouraging them to try new things.
They often come home with goodies that they have baked in the day, and this all adds to their interest in trying new foods.
One of my twins was late in developing speech and was referred to a Speech and Language Therapist.
The staff have worked side by side with myself and the therapist to ensure appropriate support was given to my son. His speech is now on-par with that of his peers. The support from the nursery was wonderful.

The nursery is well run and we feel the staff, all the staff, truly care about the well being of the children. Of course like anywhere there have been things to be discussed but this has been with professionalism, courtesy and respect regardless of the subject. It gives us great confidence in the nursery.
Our lad loves being there and refers kindly to the staff by name when he's at home.

Both my children went to Kings Castle, so I have known the setting for nearly 7 years. I have been happy throughout this time and so have my children. The staff are very caring and attentive. Both my children can at times be clingy when being dropped off, but the staff always know how to deal with this
and I end up leaving them happily playing or being comforted. The feedback I get about their learning is great too and I know they set them up for school in the best way.

Our son has progressed tremendously whilst studying at Kings Castle. A fantastic supportive, inclusive team and superb management have enabled our son to relish his time at Kings Castle and really develop a 'love for learning'.
Our son will miss both the sterling staff and fellow friends when he leaves
for primary education in September.

Amanda

Amanda Preston

Job Title: Nursery Manager Joined: 2010

Amanda has been at Kings Castle for over 12 years and has progressed from working in the Lulworth Pre-School Room to Deputy Manager and now Nursery Manager, for the past 5 years.


Amanda was a parent of King's Castle and when the time came for her son to move on to a big school, Amanda couldn't leave King's behind.


She found a deep love and passion for Montessori, which she studied at a nearby college.


Amanda is also the Designated Safeguarding Lead, Health and Safety lead and Fire Marshall.

Beckie

Beckie Dolan

Job Title: Deputy Manager Joined: 2008

Beckie has been at Kings Castle for 15 years and has progressed from a Level 3 Early Years Practitioner to Toddler Room Supervisor and Deputy Manager.


Beckie is also a Scout Leader outside of the nursery and has extensive knowledge of outdoor learning activities and group learning activities as well as an abundance of enthusiasm for Early Years!

Fabiana

Fabiana Vieira - Tao

Job Title: Lulworth Pre-School Room Supervisor Joined: 2012

Fabiana has been at Kings Castle for 11 years now and has progressed from working in the Pre-School as a Montessori Directress, to Room Supervisor.


Fab has a Montessori Diploma from a nearby college.
Fab also has 2 children of her own, one of whom currently attends the nursery.

Calum

Calum Smith

Job Title: Kings Lodge Manager Joined: 2016

Calum has been at the nursery for over 7 years now and has progressed from a Montessori Director in the Lulworth Pre-School Room, to Room Supervisor and now Manager of Kings Lodge.


Calum holds a degree in Primary Education and a QTS (Qualifies teacher status) gained from the University of Northampton.


Calum is also an "SEN Representative" and works closely with the nursery SENCO to support children at Kings Lodge.
