Kings Castle Montessori Nursery School has been providing quality childcare since 1997. In October 2023, the nursery was awarded a "Good" rating in all categories in their Ofsted inspection.

The nursery offers children a happy, safe and nurturing environment where staff support and encourage children to learn and develop to their full potential.

Kings Castle is located in Tuckton, Bournemouth and is ideally situated for children from Littledown, Southbourne, Christchurch and Boscombe.

The nursery welcomes children aged 0-5, offering flexible sessions, funded places, separate rooms for babies, toddlers and pre-school, dedicated sleep rooms and a fully enclosed garden with play area, outdoor classroom and toddler garden.

Children aged 2+ can also attend KINGS LODGE, the nature-based annexe on Tuckton Meadow. Kings Lodge offers an abundance of outdoor, nature-based activities .

A team of skilled and professional staff follow the Montessori approach to provide children with a calm and stimulating environment where they can build confidence and independence, explore their interests, make new friendships and be ready for all that life has in store for them.

Our daughter has been attending Kings Castle Montessori Nursery School for over two years now.
We've been very pleased with this setting atmosphere and its surroundings, and of course, her teachers and key workers all very attentive and informative. Her confidence, speech and kind nature have come
on leaps and bounds and she absolutely loves going and also visiting the lodge. She loves the food and eats very well with all the other children. I can't recommend this nursery enough I love their method of teaching through play and feel this has helped my daughter build her foundations to learn and grow.

Our little boy absolutely loves going to nursery at Kings Castle. He goes in happy every day and comes out even happier. He has grown so much in the three years that he has been going to Kings and we cannot thank the staff enough for helping him develop into a lovely little boy. The staff are also brilliant
and engaging with him and us and we know he is in the best possible place, to prepare him for going to school next year. We are lucky that Kings Castle also offers him the ability to spend large amounts of time outdoors, which he loves. We are so happy he has gone there and will be very sad when he leaves for school.

Kings Castle is a fantastic nursery. The staff are extremely helpful and caring and really take time and nurture the children. The nursery has a good outside space and the facilities available to the children are varied with great practical learning as well and lots of fun. The lodge addition to the
nursery has also provided another great asset which enables the children to connect more with nature and be able to explore. I have been very happy with Kings and would not hesitate to recommend them. Thank you.

My son started to attend Kings Castle in January 2022. He can be very shy and introverted, which wasn't helped by covid, so we were worried about how he'd cope starting nursery. The nursery were so supportive of him and us, and the progress he has made has been amazing. All of the staff are really lovely
and the supervisors, our son's key worker and management have always been so helpful whenever I have wanted to talk to them. It feels as though they really know our son and really care. It's a difficult job but somehow they manage to always seem so calm and smiley.
The lodge where our son also gets the forest/nature school experience is a brilliant addition too.
We are so happy with the nursery, and already have our daughter on the list to attend. We feel very lucky to have found such a brilliant nursery experience for our children and would absolutely recommend Kings Castle.

Kings Castle Montessori is such a wonderful nursery. Our child has absolutely loved attending each day, and as we come to the end of the nursery journey, we will truly miss the place. The staff are outstanding; they have formed lasting bonds with our child and have really made a substantial impact on
our child's learning. She has flourished under their tuition. The setting is fun, nurturing and encourages independence. The nursery has great facilities, with a lovely outdoor space and lots of interesting activities inside. The staff have spent a lot of time with our child, working on a range of skills, and it has made a big difference. The new lodge facility is also great and is the highlight of our child's week. She loves the time outdoors, going on walks, exploring and learning about nature. I cannot rate the nursery highly enough, and if any of the staff read this review - thank you again for everything!

Both of our children have gone through Kings Castle Montessori Nursery and both have loved it there. Even when we moved to the other side of Christchurch we kept our youngest (now 4) at Kings because we think that the Montessori learning environment is ideal prep for developing curious, independent
life-long learners who can think for themselves. The staff are nurturing, patient and really easy to communicate with. But don't take my word for it. Our six year old came to a pick-up last week and when we pulled up to the entrance he asked me 'Dad, could I go back there next week?!' When our youngest starts school this September I can honestly say: I will miss the place.

My son really enjoys it at Kings Castle. Always happy at drop off and pick up.
I believe nursery has helped develop my son to be more independent and confident. All the staff there are all smiley and happy. Always happy to answer my queries. The Covid procedures and measures they implemented filled
me with confidence. The app is such a useful tool, we get regular updates on it. I am so glad we found Kings Castle and my child has attended since he was one and he is attending school this September. My son is ready for school due to all the good work he has been taught at Kings Castle. One of the best decisions we made was picking this nursery for our son. Highly recommend.

As a mum, I have always had a very sincere and positive experience at Kings Castle. My son has made some wonderful relationships with his key workers, has really developed in his learning and is genuinely always happy to go. The staff at Kings are also doing a great job in preparing my son for school
in September, the new nature cabin is also a new highlight to his learning. I cannot recommend Kings Castle enough.

Our journey with Kings Castle will end this year, 2 of my 3 children have had a wonderful experience here (we didn't live here when my eldest was at nursery). The Montessori concept has worked perfectly for them even though my sons are very different characters. They have learnt independence yet have
been nurtured whenever needed. We really will miss Kings Castle and would recommend the staff and nursery to anyone.

Our boy has been going to Kings Castle for a year and loves it. The staff are kind, proactive, professional and smart - they are so lovely with the kids. They provide great feedback, do plenty of stimulating and varied activities. The setting is fantastic with plenty of calm spaces and opportunities
to learn and play. We’ve got another child who went elsewhere and we’ve lived in another city so between them we’ve been to a few nurseries and Kings Castle is comfortably the best.

My child has been attending the nursery for just over a year now and has been enjoying her journey so far. The nursery teachers have been a real help in toilet training in a short space of time (last 3 weeks) and has made the experience a lot easier for all of us.
Considering my child's main developmental
ages have been through a full lockdown, the nursery has been very accommodating and continued to support my childs development and is thriving in numbers, letters and communication for their age.
I would highly recommend to anyone who is on the edge or anxious of where to place their child, mine started at just 1 year old and am so glad we chose Kings Castle Montessori.

Our 1 year old son quickly took to the attentive and kind staff. We were worried at first that he wouldn’t settle as he is quite clingy to his Mum but he soon formed a bond with the girls in the nursery room.
What surprised me is the communication from the nursery which has been excellent! Throughout
the day we receive several updates on how our son is doing. This includes info about his naps and his food intake as well as how he’s been doing in general. This has really helped put our minds at ease whilst he’s away from us.


Choosing the right nursery is a big deal but I’m confident we made the right choice!

We have recently relocated back to the area very last minute and needed to find childcare. I had looked and visited a few but I kept being drawn back to Kings Castle. They have managed to accommodate the best they could and our little one is so happy with her new nursery setting.

Amanda

Amanda Preston

Job Title: Nursery Manager Joined: 2010

Amanda has been at Kings Castle for over 12 years and has progressed from working in the Lulworth Pre-School Room to Deputy Manager and now Nursery Manager, for the past 5 years.


Amanda was a parent of King's Castle and when the time came for her son to move on to a big school, Amanda couldn't leave King's behind.


She found a deep love and passion for Montessori, which she studied at a nearby college.


Amanda is also the Designated Safeguarding Lead, Health and Safety lead and Fire Marshall.

Beckie

Beckie Dolan

Job Title: Deputy Manager Joined: 2008

Beckie has been at Kings Castle for 15 years and has progressed from a Level 3 Early Years Practitioner to Toddler Room Supervisor and Deputy Manager.


Beckie is also a Scout Leader outside of the nursery and has extensive knowledge of outdoor learning activities and group learning activities as well as an abundance of enthusiasm for Early Years!

Fabiana

Fabiana Vieira - Tao

Job Title: Lulworth Pre-School Room Supervisor Joined: 2012

Fabiana has been at Kings Castle for 11 years now and has progressed from working in the Pre-School as a Montessori Directress, to Room Supervisor.


Fab has a Montessori Diploma from a nearby college.
Fab also has 2 children of her own, one of whom currently attends the nursery.

Calum

Calum Smith

Job Title: Kings Lodge Manager Joined: 2016

Calum has been at the nursery for over 7 years now and has progressed from a Montessori Director in the Lulworth Pre-School Room, to Room Supervisor and now Manager of Kings Lodge.


Calum holds a degree in Primary Education and a QTS (Qualifies teacher status) gained from the University of Northampton.


Calum is also an "SEN Representative" and works closely with the nursery SENCO to support children at Kings Lodge.
