Kings Castle Montessori Nursery School has been providing quality childcare since 1997. In October 2023, the nursery was awarded a "Good" rating in all categories in their Ofsted inspection.

The nursery offers children a happy, safe and nurturing environment where staff support and encourage children to learn and develop to their full potential.

Kings Castle is located in Tuckton, Bournemouth and is ideally situated for children from Littledown, Southbourne, Christchurch and Boscombe.

The nursery welcomes children aged 0-5, offering flexible sessions, funded places, separate rooms for babies, toddlers and pre-school, dedicated sleep rooms and a fully enclosed garden with play area, outdoor classroom and toddler garden.

Children aged 2+ can also attend KINGS LODGE, the nature-based annexe on Tuckton Meadow. Kings Lodge offers an abundance of outdoor, nature-based activities .

A team of skilled and professional staff follow the Montessori approach to provide children with a calm and stimulating environment where they can build confidence and independence, explore their interests, make new friendships and be ready for all that life has in store for them.

Our FULL-TIME rate for non-funded children is £8.75 per hour.

Kings Castle Montessori Nursery offers a range of simple, all-inclusive premium packages for children attending 36. 40. 45 or 49 hours per week.


We offer a sibling discount on request.

We offer in person show-arounds year-round and we welcome new children year-round (subject to availability).


Consumables charge – A non-mandatory consumables charge of £1.75 applies to each funded hour. The consumables charge allows us to provide your child with an environment, experiences and services which are above the normal requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) or which are not covered by Early Years Funding for example activities such as cookery, gardening, music & movement, yoga, weekly sessions at Kings Lodge Nature Nursery (for over 2’s), outings and special cultural, seasonal and celebratory events, snacks, sun cream, wipes, nappy bags, blankets, face cloths, downloadable learning / photo journal, in person parents’ evenings. Please note that the consumables charge does not apply to paid hours.

Our 4-year-old attends Kings Castle, and we couldn't be happier with the exceptional care and support provided. The leadership and management are outstanding, always listening and offering invaluable advice. It's clear that the team cares deeply for every child, nurturing their development in a warm,
welcoming environment. Our child looks forward to each day, excited to share their experiences and creative activities. The balance of structured activities and play, along with the Montessori approach, makes learning both fun and educational. Communication with parents is excellent, and we always feel informed and supported. We appreciate the events hosted for parents, which help us stay connected to the nursery. We were searching for a place where our daughter would learn, grow, and feel cherished. Kings Castle has been that exceptional place for us over the years, and I can't praise it enough!


From our first contact, the communication with all staff has been outstanding. Whether through emails, the app,

phone calls, or meetings, their professionalism and warmth are evident. Each interaction reassures us that our daughter is in excellent hands. The management team are especially responsive, addressing our questions with clarity and a genuine desire to help. This open communication has made us feel like valued members of the Kings Castle community.


Our daughter genuinely loves attending Kings Castle. Hearing her say, "I love going to nursery!" is heartwarming and reassuring for us. My daughter started in the toddler room at 18 months she's now 22 months. The staff have been amazing at settling her in. They do so many enriching and fun activities. You feel they really enjoy working with the children. They give us weekly individual updates on my daughter's development and on group
activities. Our daughter's language and independence has really improved. She loves going to nursery so much that she just runs in and doesn't even say goodbye to us!

A wonderful nursery - we're sad to leave!
Our son, joined this nursery when he was just one year old, attending two days a week, and it has been an absolutely wonderful experience. The staff are incredibly kind, compassionate, and nurturing - not just to the children but to the parents as well.
From
the very beginning, we felt welcomed and supported. The team genuinely cares for each child, providing a warm, loving environment where they can learn, grow, and thrive. They take the time to understand each child's needs, offering reassurance and guidance every step of the way. Seeing how happy and confident Nate became in their care has meant the world to us.
Sadly, due to a house move, we have to say goodbye, but we will always be grateful for the love, patience, and dedication the team has shown. If you're looking for a nursery that truly prioritises the well-being and development of children, I couldn't recommend this one highly enough. Thank you for everything!

My son has recently left Kings Castle after two years, we were very sad to say goodbye! He had a wonderful time there and the staff always went above and beyond to ensure the best possible learning and experience. They were accommodating and flexible when we needed ad hoc sessions and created a very
supportive environment while also being very adaptable to his individual needs and abilities. Kings Lodge (the associated forest school) is also amazing and my son absolutely loved his days there. They have prepared him extremely well for school where he is now thriving. We will always look back on his time at Kings Castle with great fondness and gratitude. I couldn't recommend it more highly.

Our daughter is just finishing at King's Castle to head off to school, having been there since 10 months old. She is thriving, school-ready, confident and happy.
The care shown for her in the baby room was outstanding, and you could tell the team really cared about what they do, nothing was too big
to ask and it made going back to work easier.
In the toddler and preschool rooms, the staff were also incredible and she skips in without looking back every day. The opportunities they get to practice real life skills is brilliant, and her independence has grown and grown.
My son also attended the setting a few years ago, and I plan to send my baby too in the Autumn - I wouldn't hesitate to recommend!

My son has attended Kings Castle since he was 9 months old and The Lodge since he was 2.5. He has grown so much whilst attending and his listening, communication and other skills have developed tons which I feel has been a direct impact from being at nursery. Couldn't recommend this nursery enough.
All the staff have been very friendly and considerate to my son's needs especially one member of staff in particular from The Lodge and another particular member of staff!

2 wonderful sites with different environments - I particularly love the outdoor nature of the Lodge site, and the King's site is great for promoting early motor skills, caring for others and the environment. The staff are all fantastic and work really hard to promote children's wellbeing.

Kings Castle is an amazing nursery that I can't fault in any way! My little girl went there about 5 years ago and now my little boy has finished his journey there too! Absolutely delighted with King Castle Montessori! My son has been attending Kings for over two years now, and we couldn't be happier with the experience. Kings Castle has been brilliant for both my children. I've been coming here for the last 7 years and my youngest will be leaving next month. I will be very sad not to come here anymore, they have been like an extended family. So warm and welcoming and such lovely people. My kids have both enjoyed their

Kings Castle Montessori Nursery are fantastic! My daughter is always happy when I pick her up, telling me all about her day. The staff are kind, caring, happy, understanding, supportive and informative. They update you on your child's journey each day in person and via the app, this includes photos
and other communication. I must rate the app as well. It has lots of features and is easy to navigate around. I think the Montessori way of teaching is brilliant. Being in a nursery setting and the Lodge, being close to nature, walking, outside and exploring is great for all children's development. The Nursery house is clean, and modern, with good facilities, resources and lots of activities and equipment. I've always felt my daughter is safe in their care and well looked after. Even as a parent I feel well looked after. Thank you all at Kings.

King's Castle Montessori has been absolutely fabulous for both my children. Now, as my youngest son's journey there comes to an end, I couldn't have asked for a better nursery. The staff are incredibly friendly and caring, and I just love the Montessori method that fosters independence. I truly believe

Our experience has been amazing. When considering what nursery to go for Kings Castle stood out above the rest, especially with the option to split time between the castle and the lodge setting which offers a different experience, the two complement each other really well. Our daughter has been attending Kings Castle Montessori Nursery School since 2022, and we couldn't be more grateful for the time she has spent there. Because she's bilingual, we were concerned about how she would develop her speech and friendships. However, her key worker and all the staff gave her
such confidence that she became very independent and communicative. We don't regret a single moment of choosing Kings Castle; we are truly happy with all the progress she has made.
It has been amazing to witness her development through the app updates. We truly feel like we are part of her day with all the updates.

Absolutely fantastic nursery, thoroughly recommend it. Very warm, welcoming staff who are dedicated to the children and providing them with support and learning experiences. The manager and staff are always happy to discuss any queries and provide responses in person and via the app. Use of feedback
forms and parent evenings keeps parents and staff informed equally of children's development and any support required. We are nearing the end of our child's time at nursery, but we are still receiving excellent input and support for our child as staff genuinely care about their development and what support is required for them moving forward beyond nursery. Passionate, supportive and caring management which reflects down to all staff. Use of the lodge also for nature based nursery and local walks, which is so important to teach children about nature.

Our child has had a wonderful few years at Kings Castle, and above all, his happiness and comfort when needing to be cared for away from family in the early years has been most important to us. From the baby room through to pre-school, our son has been happy to be dropped off in the mornings and always
comes home in a great mood sharing stories of his days. The days at The Lodge having time outdoors have probably been our son's favourite part of nursery, and we've loved him having this time in the fresh air in all weathers. We've also been pleased our son has made nice friends, learned practical and early academic skills, gotten used to being in a classroom environment and been familiarised with a school-type routine whilst having fun. The teachers and assistants have been very kind and they clearly have very respectful relationships with the kids. The enthusiasm from some of the staff in particular has been incredible. A really pleasant, safe, friendly and well-run nursery.

Amanda

Amanda Preston

Job Title: Nursery Manager Joined: 2010

Amanda has been at Kings Castle for over 12 years and has progressed from working in the Lulworth Pre-School Room to Deputy Manager and now Nursery Manager, for the past 5 years.


Amanda was a parent of King's Castle and when the time came for her son to move on to a big school, Amanda couldn't leave King's behind.


She found a deep love and passion for Montessori, which she studied at a nearby college.


Amanda is also the Designated Safeguarding Lead, Health and Safety lead and Fire Marshall.

Beckie

Beckie Dolan

Job Title: Deputy Manager Joined: 2008

Beckie has been at Kings Castle for 15 years and has progressed from a Level 3 Early Years Practitioner to Toddler Room Supervisor and Deputy Manager.


Beckie is also a Scout Leader outside of the nursery and has extensive knowledge of outdoor learning activities and group learning activities as well as an abundance of enthusiasm for Early Years!

Fabiana Vieira - Tao

Fabiana has been at Kings Castle for 11 years now and has progressed from working in the Pre-School as a Montessori Directress, to Room Supervisor.


Fab has a Montessori Diploma from a nearby college.
Fab also has 2 children of her own, one of whom currently attends the nursery.

Calum Smith

Job Title: Kings Lodge Manager Joined: 2016

Calum has been at the nursery for over 7 years now and has progressed from a Montessori Director in the Lulworth Pre-School Room, to Room Supervisor and now Manager of Kings Lodge.


Calum holds a degree in Primary Education and a QTS (Qualifies teacher status) gained from the University of Northampton.


Calum is also an "SEN Representative" and works closely with the nursery SENCO to support children at Kings Lodge.
