Puffins at Clystheath provides a safe and engaging environment for children to enjoy their day at nursery and learn about the world around them. The nursery is a converted Victorian chapel and has been open since 1995.

Staff are qualified to provide a high level of care and boost children's learning and social skills through play.

The secure nursery also has a garden area which children are encouraged to play in all year round. As well as the garden area children are taken on regular trips to local parks and green areas which are enjoyable for children and adults alike.

Both of my children have attended Puffins at Clystheath and I couldn't recommend the setting enough. My oldest has now moved to school and is thriving thanks to the help from the manager and her team. My youngest is currently in the baby room and is doing amazing. All the staff members are friendly
and enthusiastic about the welfare of the children, nothing is too much trouble.

My son has attended Puffins at Clystheath since he was 7 months old. The baby room have since been great with him. His key worker is very informative and caring, I feel at ease leaving him in the baby room's care. They go out into the garden daily and always have a wide range of toys and activities
accessible. Everyone in the room always seems to know how my son's day has gone and about his development. Since starting at the nursery, he has become very confident and enjoys going. The menu is varied and he now loves a wide variety of foods.

Both my children attend Puffins and really enjoy their days there. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful with any questions we may have. The office staff also are quick to respond to queries. All staff appear to be there to help the children grow. I highly recommend this nursery.

Puffins Clyst Heath has been great from the beginning. All the staff have been welcoming and professional. It’s been a huge change taking my daughter to nursery for half the week but Clyst H have made it easy and I’m confident my daughter is in the right place.

My daughter started here in September, the staff have been so great at helping her to settle in, I wasn't too worried about her first whole day. It's nice as well that they visit you. Compared to reviews, I've heard of other nurseries and they definitely seem to be the best. So far she's only been
there for one full day but I couldn't be happier so far.

MY daughter has been with Puffins of Clyst heath for approx 3 weeks now and I am very happy with her progress and that of all the staff there, settling in has been handled with true professionalism and much thought from the staff that work there. The staff at Clystheath are amazing! My son is loving going to nursery and always comes home really happy which is all I could ever hope for as a mother. The nursery is also extremely flexible with changes to the schedule which is so helpful! Thank you all very much.

My daughter loves going to nursery. She quickly slotted in and has bonded well with staff. She enjoys the free flow of activities, and the level of independence encouraged, such as going to the loo alone. Best of all, given the small inside space, is the fabulous garden, which the children are out
in almost every day. I also like the focus on messy play and textually innovative ways of learning. The manager runs a well organised and innovative nursery, and I am happy to recommend highly.

My son transferred from Puffins in the City Centre due to my work re-locating and I cannot fault the staff at Puffins Clystheath helping him to settle in.
He's been there a month now, made new friends and grown very close to all the staff. I am looking forward to him enjoying his last year of nursery
with such lovely staff.

My son has been very happy at the nursery for nearly 3 years. The staff at all levels have always welcomed him and taken the trouble to relate to him on an individual level. The open plan nature of the nursery space means that children are well known to, and well aware of, the staff in other age groups.
This helps with settling in as they move up in age groups.


Although I have always been happy with the provision of care, recent changes have seen a significant improvement in the organisation of the nursery and information provided to parents.


The nursery setting may not suit a very quiet, reserved child because of the open plan space but my outgoing child has always found the level of interaction between the other children and members of staff to be very enjoyable.

Have had 2 girls at the nursery for the last 4 years and when the youngest leaves in July I will truly miss popping in twice a week to see the lovely staff and I know my daughter will be sad to leave. Both girls developed socially and intellectually in their time at the setting and bonded very well
with all the staff whose caring attitude is unwavering.

My daughter started at Puffins early this year, and despite only doing 1 day a week, she absolutely loves it. As do I!
Every single member of staff is lovely, welcoming and kind. My daughter always comes home clean, happy and clearly very well fed :)
I love that I can check the app on my phone and
see exactly what she had got up to that day.
Ofsted rating of outstanding is completely well deserved - we would not go anywhere else!

Only nursery that I wanted to send my 19month old to. The nursery recently received Outstanding from Ofsted but it has always been a recommended nursery between my friends and family. Their activities are always fun and inviting and it took my daughter around 2 weeks to fully settle and separate from
us happily in the mornings, after previously never leaving her for longer than an hour or two with family. The staff are all very welcoming and as it is an open plan nursery she now knows and is familiar with most of the staff which I'm sure will make transitions throughout the rooms much easier for her and myself.

Job Title: Childcare Centre Manager Joined: 2016

Puffins at Clystheath have an established team, led by Chantelle who has worked for Puffins since 2016.


Chantelle is Level 3 qualified in Childcare with a Level 5 Lead Practitioner qualification and is supported by her Deputy Kira.


The nursery is spread over 1 floor with individual spaces for each age group. Children can explore a variety of different rooms, supported by caring and diligent staff who work hard to ensure every child is loved and cared for as an individual.
