Orchidale Children's Nursery was graded “outstanding” by Ofsted (June 2022).

The nursery garden is very large and includes a separate baby and toddler garden, toddler and preschool garden, patio, and a forest school garden with a trained forest school leader. Here children are free to explore the natural environment and can develop shared joy and a sense of wonder about nature. In the vegetable patch, children can learn to grow and harvest fruit and vegetables.

Inside there are open and homely environments and children are looked after by the highly qualified and experienced team, including Early Years teachers.

The wide curriculum includes daily and weekly gardening, baking, forest school and yoga. Orchidale also has termly visits and visitors such as the fire brigade and zoo.

To meet all children's unique individual needs this exciting curriculum uses diverse learning styles, from sensory, visual and auditory to kinaesthetic, musical and naturalistic.

Orchidale's teaching values healthy active days and provides great choices in healthy eating. This extends to care for a healthy planet. The home cooking uses local produce, fruit and vegetables, as well as nursery children's ‘own grown veg’ from the vegetable plot.

Amazing nursery!
My little boy has attended Orchidale Children's Nursery since September 2021. Having had no previous experience of attending nursery or even much time away from home due to lockdown I was very apprehensive. After just a few sessions I knew we had made a great choice. He is absolutely
thriving there. The staff are all extremely good at what they do and there are lots of varied activities each day (including forest school).
I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Orchidale, it really is an excellent nursery.

Our daughter is thriving at nursery. She is always so happy to see her friends and the staff at the start of her day. Her days are both varied and with a routine that has allowed her to develop into a confident little person. The staff are fantastic and have a wonderful relationship with our daughter,
the feedback on her progress is brilliant so that we are kept up to date daily. The facilities are also lovely, as soon as we saw the nursery when we did a tour we were confident that Orchidale Children's Nursery was where we would feel happy for our daughter to play and learn. Eight months on we feel so lucky to have found Orchidale.

Both of my children attend Orchidale Children's Nursery and I can’t recommend it highly enough. The staff are attentive, enthusiastic and treat every child individually and personally to their needs - whether educational or emotional etc. The nursery invests time in each child and this shines through
in my son who was non vocal when he started 16 months ago and now chats and sings all the time! My children adore the staff and it certainly feels like staff feel the same way about them. I couldn’t be more confident that my children are in the best hands when at Orchidale!

My 17-month-old started in September, and since attending Orchidale, his speech has developed and is becoming more confident socially. He loves going and always has a big smile on his face when I pick him up. Going with the children’s way of doing things really suits my son as he’s independent-minded.
Everyone is friendly, and I have felt comfortable from day one with leaving my son there. I’m really pleased we chose Orchidale.

We recently moved to the area and needed to find a nursery for our son, and we feel so lucky to have found Orchidale. It's absolutely wonderful. My son settled in instantly due to the care and attention of all the fantastic staff there. I love that the teachers follow the children's lead and nurture
their individual interests and ideas. They make playdoh cupcakes, have water fights, build wooden toys, create obstacle courses and so many other things! The meals are all prepared and cooked in-house, often using food grown in the nursery's garden. My son has attended a few different nurseries/daycares, and Orchidale is far and away the best. It's truly special, and I can't recommend it highly enough.

Orchidale Children's Nursery is the perfect place to send a child, they care deeply about me and my child. Focus weeks involve my child's input and include lots of activities based around their current interests. They go to Forest School weekly and learn lots about nature. Orchidale Children's Nursery
seamlessly links play and learning and I am confident my child will be school ready.

The nursery is very clean and well equipped it is a fantastic nursery and the variety of activities and food is excellent. The staff are all so friendly and my little boy loves them all! The outside space is like no other. My little boy has only been going for a couple of months but I can already see
huge changes in his development. I am beyond happy with our choice of nursery. They even had ducklings in for the children to learn about which is just a fantastic experience.

A wonderfully supportive, friendly and welcoming nursery which has a fantastic range of facilities - particularly within the outdoor areas. Staff are extremely supportive and approachable, they have developed wonderful relationships with my son. Activities which are set up each day provide excellent
opportunities for development across all areas of learning. I have been impressed with the opportunities which have been available to my son who is in the under 2 room. Since starting at the nursery he has made leaps and bounds of progress.

Orchidale Children's Nursery has been brilliant for our daughter. She loves attending and is always excited to arrive. Every day she is there she engages in lots of great activities that have benefitted her speech and development immensely. The staff are friendly, courteous and helpful. They clearly
have and show great affection towards the children and make them feel at home. Due to the pandemic, we have not been able to go in but we feel that she is cared for wonderfully and would recommend this nursery highly to other parents.

My son was born last December, just before the pandemic began. When I returned to work, I was so anxious about sending him to childcare as he had spent over half of his life at home with just myself and my husband. I knew I wanted him to go to Orchidale, so despite my anxieties, I chose to send him
as planned, and I am so glad that I did. His confidence and skills have improved massively in the time he has spent at the nursery- every week he amazes me with new skills- and despite not being used to interacting with other adults initially, he seems to have taken to the adults in his room wonderfully, and always seems so happy on nursery days. To me, that is all that matters.

I highly recommend this nursery. My daughter has been there since she was 9 months and I can see her development each day that she comes home. The staff are responsive, professional, caring, kind, and fun. I always feel reassured when my daughter goes off to nursery that she will be having an active
and fun day whilst learning and socialising to build her knowledge and confidence. The administration of the nursery is efficient and effective. I always feel that I am kept up to date and communication is always clear and helpful. I am able to go through my daughter's tapestry journal and photos with her in the evenings so she is able to tell me all about her friends/staff in their various environments. The menu for the children is regularly varied and there are regular focus weeks where I am asked if there is anything I want nursery to focus upon to help my daughter's development. This helps both home and nursery to work from a common understanding of where she is at in her development.

Orchidale is an amazing nursery that has cared for both my children. As my youngest now leaves it really feels like saying goodbye to family. All the staff and management are wonderful and nothing is too much trouble. Throughout lockdown and beyond they have excelled in ensuring the children and parents
are kept informed and continued to provide an impeccable service. The variety of resources, brilliant outside space and forest school enrich the experience of each child. Orchidale is a nursery I will recommend to others time and time again, a truly wonderful nursery with amazing staff.

My son has attended Orchidale since around 5 months old and it has really developed into a second home for him. Over the years he has made bonds with the friendly staff team and created strong friendships. This nursery has been a huge part of his life so far, giving him great opportunities and experiences.

Our daughter attended Orchidale a few years ago and left for school a confident, loving four year old. When we had our son there was never anywhere else we would have sent him. Our little boy is three now and counts down the days until nursery! The team are warm, loving and knowledgable in how to support
each child that walks through the door. Orchidale’s environment is outstanding!! Inside and out has loose parts to encourage creative and imaginative play and a forest school that our little boy seems to live in! He is becoming so independent and I can only put this down to the way they encourage the children to manage their own risks in the environment, building his confidence to persevere through challenges he would have asked for help for straight away before. The opportunity to roast marshmallows on a real fire or to freshly pick strawberries and bake strawberry cakes are those that create memories that will last forever! Thank you Orchidale!

Our son has been attending Orchidale Nursery for approximately 7-months. He loves his time at nursery, he looks forward to going and is always happy at the end of the day, telling us about what he has been up to. The staff are all very friendly and experienced. We feel welcomed by them each day and
feel reassured to know that our son is well looked after. There are a huge variety of different activities for the children at the nursery. The garden and forest school are fantastic. We love how the nursery focuses on natural play and teaching children independence and confidence building. Fantastic nursery- 100% recommend! Finally, the nursery remained opened during covid-19 pandemics which has been a great relief for us as key worker parents. The support and flexibility of the nursery manager and staff have been fantastic. Thank you!
