Orchidale Children's Nursery was graded “outstanding” by Ofsted (June 2022).

The nursery garden is very large and includes a separate baby and toddler garden, toddler and preschool garden, patio, and a forest school garden with a trained forest school leader. Here children are free to explore the natural environment and can develop shared joy and a sense of wonder about nature. In the vegetable patch, children can learn to grow and harvest fruit and vegetables.

Inside there are open and homely environments and children are looked after by the highly qualified and experienced team, including Early Years teachers.

The wide curriculum includes daily and weekly gardening, baking, forest school and yoga. Orchidale also has termly visits and visitors such as the fire brigade and zoo.

To meet all children's unique individual needs this exciting curriculum uses diverse learning styles, from sensory, visual and auditory to kinaesthetic, musical and naturalistic.

Orchidale's teaching values healthy active days and provides great choices in healthy eating. This extends to care for a healthy planet. The home cooking uses local produce, fruit and vegetables, as well as nursery children's ‘own grown veg’ from the vegetable plot.

Orchidale is fantastic. Our daughter has been attending since the spring in the baby room and we are so happy with the provision. She loves going, is always happy to see the staff in the mornings and genuinely seems to have a great time. She has some dietary restrictions and Orchidale has always catered
to this without question ensuring she is included safely in all food-related activities such as baking. The handovers, updates, and pictures enable us to really know what’s going on and the range of activities and trips offered is excellent. I don’t hesitate to recommend the nursery to anyone I speak to!

We love the fact that they take the children outside so often. The staff are particularly wonderful and great with our son. They genuinely care for him and have really helped him settle in. They are also good at telling us exactly what he has done during the day so we feel like we haven’t missed out.
The interaction between staff and us as parents is really good. We enjoyed the settle-in sessions as well as the “parents evening” where we got to speak to the key worker one-on-one for some time.
The only areas for improvement are:
- Being able to give one dose of Calpol to children. Most other nurseries do this before sending kids home and as two working parents who work shifts, this can be particularly painful.
- A better, and more used interactive app. The current app keeps logging us out and we usually only get one update a day.

I absolutely love Orchidale. My son has been there for two years, and now my daughter is with my son's original key person, and we just couldn't be happier.
Trusting your children with people is never easy, but all the wonderful staff at Orchidale make it feel so easy.
The enhanced provision has
seen them raising ducks from eggs to adults, using firehoses with real firefighters, meeting alpacas and picking pumpkins. My son, who struggles to walk with hypermobility, has been nurtured and helped to grow, to the point where he can now go to their forestry school, which is incredible! Imagine a place where your child could be raising fish one day and learning all about and meeting horses the next. Then throw in woodworking, reading and social play.
There are other nurseries out there, but they aren't Orchidale, case closed.

My daughters (3 and 1) both love Orchidale Nursery. The care and range of fun activities offered are amazing. I get an insight into the things they get up to with regular online updates. Both girls are thriving. The resources within the nursery are brilliant too including the well-thought-out outside
space and ever-changing fun environment. One of my favourite things this year was that on my daughter's birthday, the staff even incorporated making a birthday cake and singing happy birthday to her which she loved. It was such a delightful personal touch which is another great attribute to the staff. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Orchidale to anyone considering it.

Orchidale has a very welcoming and reassuring team to great you at the door every day. My son has been welcomed since 5 months old and he loves going. The outdoor encouragement is brilliant and what we as a family were looking for this time around when choosing a setting. The outdoors is enjoyed all
year round.
Cleanliness I have rated as a 4 as I do not get to enter the premises and cannot comment fairly and go purely by the face-to-face commitment to the childcare I see.

This nursery has been the best choice for our son, who has been to other nurseries and childminders in the past. The staff interact well with the children, support their interests and genuinely care for their wellbeing. The outdoor setting was the deciding factor for us and our son has developed in
ways we never imagined; physically, academically and emotionally. He has an insatiable curiosity that benefits from being in this environment. I honestly wish we could delay primary and have him here another year.

My daughter has been going to Orchidale Nursery twice a week since she turned one. She’s over two now and is loving her time at Orchidale. She takes part in such a wide variety of activities, and we love seeing all the updates on the app. She’s had two key workers who have been amazing, and all the
other staff clearly know who she is and take an interest, too. The care and support her key workers have given her gives me comfort whilst at work. Communication is great, and the facilities are equally as amazing. She loves the food options, too. We wouldn’t have sent her anywhere else, and we would rate Orchidale more than five stars if we could.

Orchidale Children's Nursery is such a wonderful place which I cannot recommend highly enough. My son absolutely loved his time there and he thrived, loving the outside setting where he got to explore and have the best time!
The staff are incredible - they are so caring, supportive and understanding
to both the children and families. They provide excellent opportunities for the children both at and outside the nursery and really take the time to give every child a rich variety of fun activities to help their development and engage their interests.
The staff build amazing relationships with the children and they genuinely want the very best for them. My youngest child will be starting there soon and I can't wait for him to join the Orchidale family!

Orchidale have been an incredible nursery for nearly 10 years to us. As a family we would never look anywhere else. We cannot thank their staff enough for the enrichment given to our children over the years.

Orchidale has surpassed my expectations and I am so glad that my daughter has spent her foundation stage here. She is definitely well prepared for school thanks to the amazing provision and the skilled staff on hand to guide her along the way. Orchidale manages the perfect balance between fostering
independence and nurturing depending on the individual. A really special place that feels like a home away from home. I would recommend to all parents.

Orchidale is an amazing nursery. It has great facilities and they do lots of great trips out. My daughter particularly enjoyed going to forest school. She also loved being outside a lot and looking after the animals. All the staff are very friendly and approachable. My daughter definitely thrived at
Orchidale.

My little girl started in April 2023.
I was always worried about my little one starting nursery; however, this is the best decision I ever made.
Having been shown around Orchidale, I had a fabulous feeling it would be perfect for her. From day one, my daughter has enjoyed herself profoundly, and
this is thanks to the wonderful leaders caring for her and showing her lots of new skills, which she loves so much. My little girl always comes home with a big smile on her face, and this is such a wonderful feeling knowing she's happy and content.

When trying to find a nursery to transition our daughter too, it felt so overwhelming. The worry about making the right decision felt huge. I'm so glad we found Orchidale. They really are amazing.
My little one struggled to settle in at first, going from childminders with two other children to a bigger
group, but the staff were so adaptable and supportive to help her progress and flourish at the pace that was right for her. I now get told off if I pick her up early, as she loves it so much.
The use of the app, parents' evening and key workers are great for feeling in touch, and I love the updates we get.
One of mine and my daughter's favourite things about Orchidale are the variety of enriching experiences she has; from forest school trips, cooking club, woodwork, library trips, the nursery pets, painting, visits from external companies and services, there is just always so much fun to be had.

Orchidale is a brilliant nursery. All the staff are super helpful and kind and always have the children’s best interest at the forefront of what they are doing. The nursery is welcoming and fun for the kids.
Our child has been through all the rooms and is now in the House Martins; he loves going to
nursery, learning, playing and making friends.
We can’t recommend this nursery highly enough - it’s superb.

Really cannot recommend this nursery enough. All staff are great with the kids. Our child adores everyone and loves going.
Very child-centred, and activities/learning is carefully thought through at every stage.

My son attends Orchidale Nursery in the House Martins. I have nothing but praise for the nursery, the setting and the provision they provide. The staff go above and beyond to help my son, and he has a lovely key worker, who, along with the rest of the staff has put so much effort into supporting my
son with his challenging eating. They have already made so much progress. He always feels like he is nurtured by the staff, and I have never met a member of the team who isn’t giving everything to the children. They provide some amazing experiences for the children visiting forest school, chopping down a Christmas tree and pumpkin picking to name but a few. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the nursery to anyone. My youngest will be attending Orchidale as soon as he’s ready despite it being 25 minutes each way for us. The facilities, ethos and staff far out way anything that can be offered anywhere else in Norwich.

My little boy started at Orchidale in September 2021. He was very attached to me and his dad, and being born during the pandemic meant he really only saw us and medical professionals for the first six months. I was, therefore, very nervous about him starting nursery, but I knew it would be good for
his development. As soon as I met his key worker in the baby room, I felt at ease. He then moved up to the toddler room, and knowing it takes him time to feel comfortable around new people, I was nervous again, but his key worker and team in the toddler room soon put me at ease again. His key worker works with us and when needed, will adapt things to meet his needs. He has really thrived since being at Orchidale; he has grown so much in terms of his social skills and communication. He does so many activities; he loves being outside - one of the big reasons we chose orchidale was for the forest school.

I was struggling with the thought of taking my little boy to nursery and having to leave him for the first time, but I knew sending him to nursery would benefit him, and it would be good for him to socialise with little ones his age. My little boy loves the outside, so seeing the outside gardens and
all the activities that they offer was perfect, and what can I say! Wow, I am shocked at the progress he has made since starting in early February, and that is down to the staff and especially his key worker; I have so much trust and confidence in the staff and am so pleased that I chose Orchidale as it seems to be working amazingly for my little boy. He loves going to nursery and has gradually become more and more comfortable and confident in going. He always comes out super happy, and his key worker explains what he’s been up to in the day and new things he discovered or achieved, which is really lovely to hear. I 100% recommend it.

Overall, I’m happy all-round with this nursery, and I can’t fault any areas.
The outstanding Ofsted rating/report is truly deserved. My son is now in the toddler room, following being in the baby room since a year old. The opportunities for the children are fantastic, and the range of activities they
do is also amazing. All the usual activities you would expect, but opportunities like woodwork (with real tools etc), the forest school, offsite trips and the cooking club make the experience for the children so much more. I’m always excited to hear what my son has done and can see how all the opportunities have helped his development. All the staff I’ve experienced have been lovely. Friendly, approachable, and best of all, brilliant with the children. The meals are a really good range of healthy and nutritious options, and the children sometimes have the opportunity to help make meals or cakes for desserts.
