University Nursery at Edwinstowe Close looks to provide a professional childcare service to employees of the University of Cambridge and have a limited number of spaces available for community families who are not working or studying at the University.

Edwinstowe offers full day care and part-time sessional care to children from three months to five years in four different age group based rooms.

An established staff team provides a wide range of activities, following the EYFS framework, which meet the needs of each individual child.

A wide range of age-appropriate resources both indoors and outside allows children plenty of opportunities to develop new skills. Supported by staff, the nursery environment is one where children of all ages can thrive.

Excellent settings for my son and he loves going to the nursery now. Started on 20th Feb. Settling into the nursery was as easy as it could be. Very friendly staff and management. We are very happy that our son got a place at Edwinstowe Close.

Our daughter enjoys her nursery days very much. We can see the attention to detail the nursery staff pay her. She is learning new things, exploring and experiencing different activities in the nursery which she shows us from to time and really brings smiles to our faces. The staff are always helpful
and provide very detailed observations every day to keep us informed about our daughter's behaviours and needs. We feel very safe leaving our daughter and believe that she will be taken care of.

Staff really friendly and helpful. Learning experience is great - my son regularly comes home with lots of new experiences. The salary sacrifice system makes this the best value for money childcare in Cambridge. My son really enjoys his experience here. Overall very very satisfied.

Edwinstowe is a fantastic nursery which feels like a family. Everyone, including workers in other rooms and the kitchen knows our two children's names and they love going here. They have made good friends and flourished as people and learners. We will miss the nursery and especially the staff. Recommendation
is to have more musical activities and more outings.

Our first born has been going to this nursery for the last 3 years and our second born will be joining is a couple of weeks. We think it's a fantastic place and our son has really thrived since he joined. He's surrounded by so much love and support and speaks very fondly of the staff in his room. He
has made lots of friends and he feels accepted and valued and at the same time he learnt to value and respect others as well. We go to work knowing that he's happy and very well looked after. There's a variety of age appropriate activities they do regularly but children are also allowed to play freely and develop their interests. They spend a lot of time outdoors, exploring the wildlife, playing with sand, water and mud, ball games, riding bicycles. The meals are very healthy and cooked on site. We're lucky that both our boys are in such good hands. All a parents wants!

Our son started Edwinstowe when he was 4 months old and has just left now he's almost 4. Such a poignant time his last apple from the fruit bowl in reception. He was fine mind you, excited and confident about his next steps, it was me that was sad! As it had been when he started. I was extremely hesitant
about him going into nursery so young, however I really had no choice. I needn't have worried, the care and support have been outstanding, Edwinstowe have been true partners in raising him. The positive and caring interactions with the children I saw over the years put my mind at rest that our son was in a great place. The various medical needs we had were well-supported; he has always eaten well; we gained new toys at home led by the activities there; it took us half an hour or more to get him to leave at the end of the day. Our son was so happy there and has learned so much, I cannot recommend highly enough!

Fran is Manager of Edwinstowe Day Nursery and has a wealth of experience, having worked in the early year's sector for over 23 years. Fran has a Level 3 qualification in Early Years Childcare and Education. Fran has worked at Childbase Partnership for 18 years.


What’s your favourite feature of your nursery?
I love how every room has its own garden and its quiet location in natural surroundings, which encourages a range of wildlife, despite being close to the city centre.


What are you most proud of about your nursery/team?
How passionate they are in helping the children to reach their full potential, seeing how much fun they have in teaching the children every day, resulting in the children being excited and engaged in their learning.
