University Nursery at Edwinstowe Close looks to provide a professional childcare service to employees of the University of Cambridge and have a limited number of spaces available for community families who are not working or studying at the University.

Edwinstowe offers full day care and part-time sessional care to children from three months to five years in four different age group based rooms.

An established staff team provides a wide range of activities, following the EYFS framework, which meet the needs of each individual child.

We have been absolutely delighted with our start at Edwinstowe Close. Both our children have been hugely welcomed by very warm and caring staff, and have settled quickly into the lovely rhythms of the nursery day. As parents, we have also been made to feel very welcome, and our engagements with the
team have only been exceptionally positive and helpful. So, in short, we are very happy, and grateful, that our children can go to Edwinstowe!

Edwinstowe is simply an amazing nursery. Every morning when we arrive, there is a different, creative activity set up for the children, which makes the start of the day exciting and engaging. The staff are very attentive to individual needs. For example, our son loves water play, so they have created
a dedicated area in the garden where he can enjoy this safely and happily. Whenever any issue comes up, which of course is inevitable from time to time, the management is always extremely responsive and supportive. Everything is handled with kindness and goodwill, and it is clear that the team truly cares both for the children and for the parents.
We also really appreciate the transparency around food and nutrition, with menus communicated clearly and parents being kept in the loop. The overall atmosphere is one of sensitivity and openness. Our son is now in his second room at Edwinstowe (currently in the Ladybirds group), and we continue to be extremely impressed. Having compared this

We have two children at Edwinstowe and cannot praise the nursery enough! Everyone on the nursery staff is so kind and they care so much about each child. They have done everything in their power to help our two feel at home and to learn and grow. Whenever either of our children has had any special needs,
they have bent over backwards to help. Because the nursery is small and all the staff move between the rooms (though they are primarily based in one), everyone knows all the children and it really feels like a family. Both our children love coming to nursery every day.

I feel really lucky that my son gets to attend Edwinstowe. It's a really great setting with lovely staff and clean, bright and inviting rooms.
My son enjoys his time at nursery and has formed lovely relationships with the staff - which makes it easier dropping him off! I really appreciate the handovers

The staff at University Nursery at Edwinstowe Close (Cambridge) have been amazing, helping my son settle in when he was just 9 months old, and recently with his move to a new room. He has formed lovely bonds with the staff and he waves and says 'hiya' to everyone when we arrive. I'm always impressed
that everyone we encounter knows his name and greets him with a big smile. He is very happy there and I feel really confident that he is in good hands. Also, being a first-time parent I have found the staff to be incredibly supportive and always have time to answer questions or discuss anything I'm a bit worried about.

We have two children at Edwinstowe. Our three-year-old has been there for a year having moved from another nursery (a very smooth transition) and our one-year-old started recently and has settled well. The nursery is fantastic: we and our children love it. The staff are brilliant and always thinking
of fun and creative activities, the facilities and outdoor space are well maintained, food is tasty and nutritious, safeguarding and safety are taken seriously, and the whole nursery is well run. Some particular highlights for us are that:
- both children spend lots of time outside.
- we love to be able to go into the room to collect the children, see them playing, and get to chat with staff.
- the staff moved between rooms and got to know all children: within a couple of weeks of our youngest starting it seemed that all staff across the nursery knew her and were up to date on how she was settling in.
We strongly recommend Edwinstowe!

Edwinstowe nursery is a lovely place for children to grow. Our two daughters attended for over 3 years each, and we have seen the incredible dedication of staff. The development of our children in their confidence, their physical skills and their emotions has been strongly supported by the staff. Edwinstowe

Edwinstowe has been a home away from home for us for 5 years. My two sons have attended from 6 months right through to preschool age. They have been so well loved and cared for by all the staff. Many of the staff have been there for 10+ years. My kids love it there and the staff go out of their way
to notice and develop their particular interests. As a breastfeeding mum, I appreciated that they always went out of their way to minimise the waste of pumped milk. They have been a source of advice and support on feeding, sleeping, toilet training and development. We have had a wonderful experience at Edwinstowe.

I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude and satisfaction to Edwinstowe Nursery. My child had a great time here and I am very pleased with your education and care. The teacher is very concerned about my child. My child feels real care, warmth and happiness here. She also learned
a lot of songs, can do handicrafts and draw pictures. The nursery does a good job in communication and keeps me informed of my kid's situation at the nursery. I am also very impressed with the teaching environment and facilities here. The classroom is bright and clean, with many colourful teaching tools and toys, providing a fun and stimulating learning space for the children. Unfortunately, we have to leave here due to relocation. My kid will miss it.

We have found the staff at Edwinstowe to be friendly, helpful, and caring. They have worked with us on toilet training and managing emotions with helpful ideas we can use at home as well.
They do a lot of engaging and varied activities with the kids and also do a lot of outdoor play. We've been very
happy with the care they've taken of our little one!

My daughter loves going to Edwinstowe and I feel confident she is in a warm, caring atmosphere.
Of particular note are the staff, who are very loving and engaging with the children. This is especially true for her key worker who my daughter regularly requests hugs and tickles from!
I really appreciate
how open the nursery is, parents have a lot of transparency and can go into the room at any time. This gives you confidence about what is going on, rather than just having a child deposited at the front door.
Regarding areas for improvement, while they have been very accommodating for food I would have liked to see healthier breakfast (e.g porridge not cereals and a few less cakes/sugary things). That should not detract from this being overall an excellent nursery. I feel I'm dropping my daughter off somewhere she is loved.

To start with, the nursery is located in a very safe, and quiet area providing a reassuring environment for the families. The indoor and outdoor spaces are great and full of learning opportunities and space to play and run/cycle for the children. My child is as happy as one can be and absolutely loves
everything about the nursery. The staff are extremely professional and actively listen to the children's needs and wishes, offering a stimulating and positive setting for the children to develop their first friendships and relationships with adults and independence. I appreciate their daily feedback and development updates on the app. The food, the books and toys, and the general atmosphere is just great and nurturing. My eldest child wants to drop off and collect his little brother because he loves the resources and the happiness filling the nursery. As a parent what strikes me the most is that absolutely everyone in the nursery: staff, children, parents, chefs are always smiling!

What’s your favourite feature of your nursery?
I love how every room has its own garden and its quiet location in natural surroundings, which encourages a range of wildlife, despite being close to the city centre.


What are you most proud of about your nursery/team?
How passionate they are in helping the children to reach their full potential, seeing how much fun they have in teaching the children every day, resulting in the children being excited and engaged in their learning.
