University Nursery at Edwinstowe Close looks to provide a professional childcare service to employees of the University of Cambridge and have a limited number of spaces available for community families who are not working or studying at the University.

Edwinstowe offers full day care and part-time sessional care to children from three months to five years in four different age group based rooms.

An established staff team provides a wide range of activities, following the EYFS framework, which meet the needs of each individual child.

A wide range of age-appropriate resources both indoors and outside allows children plenty of opportunities to develop new skills. Supported by staff, the nursery environment is one where children of all ages can thrive.

My Son loves the nursery, he enjoys all of the great opportunities provided and is learning so much. When I collect him the staff feedback to me all of the things he has done, he is very well-loved and cared for.

My son has attended this nursery since he was 8 months old. The nursery was just refurbished and the rooms were clean and very well decorated. The staff are professional, loving and caring. The management team works hard to provide excellent service. I have no negative comments. They really deserve
their 'outstanding' rate. My son couldn't wait to go to nursery every morning and I have peace of mind all day knowing he was in good hands. He is a wonderful 3.5-year-old boy now and I know the nursery contributed largely to that.

We had a tricky start with my daughter settling in as she initially really struggled with the separation, however, she has now flourished, and is learning so much from her carers in her room. They cherish her as an individual, noting many of her personal characteristics and celebrating all her achievements
alongside her parents.
Because of the small amount of children, she gets a lot of one to one time with her key worker, who uses my daughter's interests to further her development.

My child started in this nursery at about 9 months of age. We find the staff very cooperative and work together with parents to make the place comfortable for kids. We feel very confident and safe when we leave our son at nursery that he is going to enjoy and have a wonderful day. He is developing well
and in every aspect that makes us feel proud looking t him growing and developing skills overall, we are very happy with the decision that we joined Edwinstowe Nursery.

Edwinstowe is an excellent nursery with a fantastic, intimate feel. The staff are highly skilled and truly warm and caring. My daughter has just completed her first month at Edwinstowe. We’re very impressed with all aspects of the nursery: the facilities are wonderful, the food is of extremely high quality and the staff are friendly, caring and responsive. They’ve been particularly wonderful during this initial settling-in
period. We are impressed at how the staff keep a log of all the children’s individual likes or favourite things, and find ways to tailor daily activities to best engage them. The nursery was by far our favourite of all the places we looked at in the city, and we were over the moon to have been offered a place here.

The whole family are very happy with our experience at Edwinstowe nursery.
Our son is very happy there.
He has an excellent relationship with all the staff especially his key worker.
He loves the wide range of activities from dancing to crafting to make-believe to outdoor play.
I can leave him
safe in the knowledge he is entirely happy and safe.

My child has recently moved into the Bumblebee room and has seamlessly transitioned.
Staff members have been friendly and so informative upon collection.
I have noticed a real difference in my child's vocabulary since he has moved rooms.
My child also has a really varied diet and I am very impressed
with the different dishes the children try. Thank you.

Everyone is very nice and caring and it is impressive how many activities and games the children are involved in.

I cannot fault Edwinstowe. The nursery is a joy to visit each day. The staff are outstanding. The fellow parents are warm and friendly, and the children are so polite and loving. The standard of care given to my daughter has been exceptional, since the day she started in Caterpillars, at ten months.
I leave my baby each morning happy, knowing that she is being looked after and given so much love, attention and encouragement to progress. My biggest fear is about when she leaves because I doubt many schools will be able to replicate the wonderful, genuinely caring and happy atmosphere. I cannot thank every member of staff enough for their support.

My son is in the Bumble Bees room now. He started in February and has settled very well. The staff are very supportive, caring and knowledgeable. Everyone at the nursery is very friendly. The facilities are excellent and so is the range of activities. We are always provided with detailed observations
about our son's development, routine and needs. We are very happy with the nursery and would recommend it to anyone.

Fran is Manager of Edwinstowe Day Nursery and has a wealth of experience, having worked in the early year's sector for over 23 years. Fran has a Level 3 qualification in Early Years Childcare and Education. Fran has worked at Childbase Partnership for 18 years.


What’s your favourite feature of your nursery?
I love how every room has its own garden and its quiet location in natural surroundings, which encourages a range of wildlife, despite being close to the city centre.


What are you most proud of about your nursery/team?
How passionate they are in helping the children to reach their full potential, seeing how much fun they have in teaching the children every day, resulting in the children being excited and engaged in their learning.
