  • Bright Horizons Caterham Burntwood Lane Day Nursery and Preschool, Caterham
Bright Horizons Caterham Burntwood Lane Day Nursery and Preschool provides high-quality care and education for children aged 3 months to 5 years.

The nursery itself is a beautifully refurbished, purpose-built building all on one level, split into four age groups. Each room is equipped with high quality, age-appropriate resources and the children have immediate access to a large outdoor space.

The nursery has an amazing garden that even has its own LED-lit adventure fort. There’s so much exploring to look forward to each day: an amazing climbing frame, reading dens, a cycle area and a planting area which the children help care for to learn about the world around them.

An enriching Ready for School programme gives every child the opportunity to gain knowledge and confidence to thrive in school and beyond.

The nursery also provides nutritious and delicious meals, prepared by a dedicated on-site chef.

The setting is conveniently located next to Stafford Sports Centre, close to the M25 and 15 minutes' walk from Whyteleafe rail station, with on-site parking available.

We are extremely pleased with the care our son receives at Bright Horizons, Burntwood Lane. The manager and her team, go over and above to ensure the safety and happiness of the children. Having a baby during the lockdown, naturally made it harder for him to settle, but the team ensured the whole process
went as smoothly as possible. We can see a tremendous advancement in our son's skills and eating habits since attending the nursery, which is a result of the wide variety of activities and menu. We couldn’t recommend the nursery and staff, more highly!

I’d highly recommend Burntwood Lane Bright Horizons. My daughter has been there for around 2 years now and we’re so pleased with what a polite, confident, funny girl she is turning into - I’ve no doubt that is helped by all the fun activities she gets up to at nursery, and the great atmosphere that
has been created there at Burntwood Lane. It’s down to the hard work they all put in to give the children a fun experience every day they go. My daughter loves all the staff there and enjoys nursery whenever she goes. The last couple of years has been brilliant for her at Burntwood Lane thanks to her key workers, and all of the others that interact with her.
The varied fresh food she gets given is fantastic and it’s great to know she’ll have 3 good meals each day she’s there. The new app is brilliant to keep a track of what she’s been doing during her day, seeing the photos they can share on it, any naps and what and how much food she’s eaten.

Bright Horizons Caterham Burntwood Lane Day Nursery and Preschool is a wonderful setting. Our daughter has attended Burntwood Lane for nearly three years and she loves it. The level of care she receives is second to none. Staff are kind and attentive and a huge asset to nursery/preschool. The environment
- especially the outdoor space - is clean and fun. There is an impressive variety of food on the daily/weekly/monthly menu. Extra educational activities such as visits from the Fire Brigade and Dentist, are organised for the children. There are so many great aspects to the nursery and preschool. For our family, Burntwood has been, and always will be, a special place.

My son joined the nursery just before his first birthday and his development and progress ever since has been remarkable. My son’s assigned key worker is an asset to the nursery, as are all the staff. The love, care and efficiency shown by the staff is second to none and I can’t praise and thank them
enough. The provisions put in place because of the pandemic have been really reassuring and I have always felt my son’s safety is priority, as is all the children’s. It has been tough times in the world and I can honestly say that the staff haven’t let this impact the children which is difficult but all that us parents could ask for. I love the fact that the nursery is equipped for all seasons and weathers and they encourage outdoor play as much as possible. The variety of meals is very impressive and I can honestly say it’s better than some of the five star resorts I have been to. Overall, I am extremely impressed with this nursery, including its staff as is my son.

The nursery staff are very friendly, kind and approachable. My son loves spending time at the nursery and always seems very happy when I pick him up. I always notice the development in him every couple of weeks which shows how much effort they put into children's development and improvement.

My daughter has been attending Bright Horizons Burntwood Lane nursery for 6-months, and we have absolutely loved it. My daughter will cuddle and blow kisses to the key workers when it's time to go home. Special mention to three ladies who are completely wonderful.

My son absolutely loves going to nursery, which is always reassuring as a first-time mum.
The continued support from the staff after he was diagnosed with autism has been outstanding, and I have never felt that I needed to ask for anything more as it was all in place for me.
All the staff are a
credit to Bright Horizons, and they are always on hand if you have any questions or queries.

We looked at so many nurseries for our daughter but I'm so glad we picked this one. My daughter started when she was 1 and is Autistic so finds lots of things overwhelming and difficult. The staff have always looked after her so well and been kind, patient and invested in her. My daughter has come on
so much whilst being there at nursery and loved her days with the team. The staff also increased their knowledge on Autism to be able to understand and help my daughter to the best of her ability. So sad to have left but thank you so much for everything.

Our daughter is about to start school after 16 months at Caterham preschool. She has enjoyed her time, supported by the warm and welcoming staff. The setting bright and open with plenty of scope to play in different ways. The garden is lovely and green and feels secluded - much nicer than some other
nurseries we viewed and was a significant factor in our choice. The staff are a real strength of this friendly setting.

We have been delighted with the care provided. The managers are always enthusiastic and welcoming and the staff in both of our daughters rooms know the girls very well and are extremely caring. They go above and beyond. My daughter particularly loves the bikes, computer and playground. Staff have always
comforted my girls well if they have been upset at drop off, and they go above and beyond.

My child is currently in the toddler's room, he loves coming here and seems to be learning new things every day. I received feedback from his keyworker about his day and this is always in a positive manner. I am very happy with this nursery and the staff here. I do not feel that anything needs to be
changed here. And my little boy loves it here.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.889) out of 10 for Bright Horizons Caterham Burntwood Lane Day Nursery and Preschool is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 27 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 26 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.889 for Bright Horizons Caterham Burntwood Lane Day Nursery and Preschool is calculated as follows: ( (298 Excellents x 5) + (16 Goods x 4) + (10 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 324 Ratings = 4.889
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bright Horizons Caterham Burntwood Lane Day Nursery and Preschool is based on 26 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 72 number of registered child places is 14.4, which has been reached with 26 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
