Bright Horizons Caterham Burntwood Lane Day Nursery and Preschool provides high-quality care and education for children aged 3 months to 5 years.

The nursery itself is a beautifully refurbished, purpose-built building all on one level, split into four age groups. Each room is equipped with high quality, age-appropriate resources and the children have immediate access to a large outdoor space.

The nursery has an amazing garden that even has its own LED-lit adventure fort. There’s so much exploring to look forward to each day: an amazing climbing frame, reading dens, a cycle area and a planting area which the children help care for to learn about the world around them.

An enriching Ready for School programme gives every child the opportunity to gain knowledge and confidence to thrive in school and beyond.

The nursery also provides nutritious and delicious meals, prepared by a dedicated on-site chef.

The setting is conveniently located next to Stafford Sports Centre, close to the M25 and 15 minutes' walk from Whyteleafe rail station, with on-site parking available.

An excellent team led by fantastic room leaders at all levels. My daughter has been here for a year. She has a great group of friends and is happy with all the staff.

Staff are great. Very welcoming and great with the children. Very happy to have chosen this nursery and will be sending my other children here very soon! Staff go above and beyond for special events such as Christmas plays or fun days.

I am so happy with my choice of nursery for my son. He is very happy to go and always seems to enjoy his time there. Staff are attentive, energetic and enthusiastic. I always get accurate updates as to his activities and am confident that he is well cared for when there.

Unfortunately, in the last 12 months, we have seen a decrease in the level of care and service at the nursery. The new management do not come across as caring and seem unresponsive to parents requests. There has been a large level of turnover which seems to be associated with the new management. When
moving to preschool at 3 years old we were told that children are expected to go to the toilet by themselves and they are not accommodating of a transition period. They also expect children to drop their naps during the day altogether. Level of hygiene seems to have gone down as when I pick up my boy he is really dirty even around his mouth which can be dangerous. Having said this his key worker is great and when she is around she definitely cares and looks after him.

My daughter has been at the nursery since 18 months when we moved to the area, and has now turned 3 and in the pre-school room. After looking at quite a few local nurseries we found Asquith Caterham to be the best in the area as it was clean, child-centric, has excellent outdoor facilities, with friendly
and approachable staff and an excellent healthy and diverse menu.
My daughter loves going to the nursery in the mornings and has made some excellent bonds with her key-workers and the other children. Since the nursery manager has started in 2014 we have also enjoyed getting books out at the 'nursery library', watching the fish in the garden, cooking in the mud kitchen and watching all of the sunflowers (planted by the children) grow throughout the summer. They are always thinking of new activities for the children to do.


My daughter also requires a specialist menu, and the staff have been excellent in ensuring that she has a healthy meal, that she doesn't miss out but that her food is safe for her to eat.

I would highly recommend this nursery and pre-school.

Job Title: Nursery Manager Joined: 2016

Gizem is the Nursery Manager at Bright Horizons Caterham, Burntwood Lane and has been part of the setting since 2016. She began her journey as an unqualified Nursery Assistant and, through dedication and continuous growth, progressed to her current leadership role.


Throughout her career, Gizem has embraced a wide range of professional development opportunities, including completing her Early Years qualification, a Level 2 certificate in Understanding Autism, and coaching training. She is currently studying for a Level 5 Bachelor's degree in Early Years, further enhancing her leadership and pedagogical skills.


Her passion for early years education shines through in her daily work. Gizem is proud to lead a committed, hardworking team and finds great reward in witnessing their impact, most notably through the joy and smiles of the children in their care.

Sophie has been a valued member of Bright Horizons for over three and a half years. She began her career as an unqualified Nursery Assistant and, through hard work, dedication and a passion for early years education, has progressed to the role of Deputy Manager.


Throughout her time at Bright Horizons, Sophie has developed strong relationships with both children and families, gaining experience across all age groups. She is especially passionate about supporting children in reaching their early developmental milestones and takes pride in creating a nurturing and engaging environment where every child feels safe, supported and inspired to learn.
