I cannot recommend Bright Horizons Longfield more. My child has attended since 10 months old to which I was quite anxious as I did not want my child to attend that early. However, my child adores the staff and is so excited to go to learn and play. The menu is varied and healthy taking into consideration any preferences. My child had a number of health issues and the nursery has always been accommodating and helpful.
Amazing nursery, my daughter has progressed so much since attending. Great communication and relationships with all the staff members within her room. From pictures I’ve seen they do interesting activities that all children are involved and engaged in.
With each room she transitioned to she had the best experience, from the nurturing and deeply caring staff in the baby room, guiding her with her development to enable her to reach her milestones, to the staff in the Nursery room providing her with different play experiences and supporting her gaining her independence.
Pre School room provided her with exciting and engaging activities to support her individual interests, learning and development. I cannot thank all the staff enough within the nursery for helping to shape her into the confident little girl who was prepared and could not wait to continue her learning journey to reception class in school.
The partnerships with the staff and myself were fantastic. I highly recommend this nursery to parents.
I was very nervous about sending my first child to nursery, however, they made the experience so much easier to handle. The transition period was brilliant and gave me the opportunity to meet the people who would be looking after my daughter. The staff and facilities are brilliant, which made me feel comfortable leaving her. The meals are amazing, she often has things that I haven't tried at home. My child is greeted each morning with big smiles and enthusiasm by the staff and leaves in the afternoon with an update on her day and a happy little girl.
The best thing about the nursery is how each member of staff really care about the children. I would always recommend this nursery to others.
They are always outside in the fresh air, which he really enjoys and they always have fun activities to do.
I would prefer there to be less paperwork for both the nursery staff and the parents but overall I am happy with the care he receives and would recommend the nursery.
My child is greeted each morning with big smiles and enthusiasm by the staff and leaves in the afternoon with an update on his day and a happy little boy looking forward to the next day's visit.
My husband and I are extremely grateful for the love and care all the staff at Hickory House Pre-School & Day Nursery have given to both our children over the past three years. Knowing our children were safe, well cared for and most importantly happy was such a relief when going back to work. Thank you all at Hickory House Pre-School & Day Nursery. X
My son started at Hickory when it was independent, so we have gone through the whole process of integration into a large corporation, which, I am sad to say, has not improved my perception of the care provided.
The facilities are excellent as are a number of the staff and the outdoor section is nice, if a bit small for the number of children.
My two biggest concerns would first be the essentially unthinking application of rules on children even having a remote chance of being ill (i.e. 48-hour exclusions due to soft stools during teething) etc. This is done alongside sometimes questionable health and safety procedures during maintenance and repair which put the children at risk of being hurt.
The second concern is the price, which has risen massively since the takeover as well as no longer covering things like nappies (I believe, my son does not use them anymore).
My children are very happy at Hickory House Pre-School & Day Nursery, they have a great relationship with the staff and have fun during the day whilst learning.
My son loves going to nursery and comes home telling me about all the exciting activities he does during the day. He started at Hickory House when he was nine months old and he has loved every room he has been in, he's starting school in September and I don't have to worry about him making new friends and being confident enough to join in, as Hickory House has given him a great start.
Staff is really good and helpful. My son is very happy in preschool 1 class. They do different activities every day and encourage them. My son is learning lots in Hickory House Pre-School. They teach them manners as well as teaching them to be independent.
Everyone that works at Hickory House is just amazing, so friendly, attentive and kind. It truly deserves its outstanding grade.
I could not praise it enough.
The staff are professional and friendly. When I fell pregnant with our second child we had assumed we would take my son out of nursery but he loves it so much he still goes! They have been brilliant at supporting us with potty training and ensuring continuity between how it is done.
My son has been with Hickory House for 2 1/2 years and overall I have been pleased. The staff are fabulous!!! And my son loves going to nursery which is the most important thing...have to say the kitchen staff are just as fab as the room staff!
My son has been attending Hickory House since May, I am so impressed with the nursery and all the staff there, my son's key person in particular. I’ve noticed a huge improvement in my sons social and verbal skills and he enjoys all the different activities he does every week.
I have been a parent at the nursery since 2014, both my daughter and son went/are still attending there. After the take over by a corporation last year, I feel the atmosphere of the nursery has changed. It feels that it is more about the money than the actual care.
Thank you very much for your review. Your feedback is important to us. I am sorry you feel this way about your nursery. Your comments will be fed back to the Nursery Manager in order to address. I struggle to answer the questions below as I don't really know what happens day to day. I always assume everything is excellent. I have got no reason to think otherwise, but I do think communication about my individual child's progress would be nice. I have said it since she started. I have had a meeting with a key person once and had a learning journal once in 19 months. But, she is very happy and loves coming. I only wish I could afford to send her on more days.
Both my children are very happy at this nursery and especially my 3-year-old, can't wait to come in the mornings. They both eat well and get a little feedback at the end of the day about what they've been up to. I like getting the handwritten daily feedback from the baby room, it would be nice to have the same sort of feedback from the other rooms too. Very happy with this nursery and would definitely recommend it to others. Our nursery manager is lovely and very helpful and very approachable.
Very pleased with our nursery experience. Pre-school one has really helped our son socially and he is well supported emotionally too. Key workers are fantastic.

Meet the Team (2)
Donna began her career in the early years sector and has grown over the years through various roles. This progression has given her the opportunity to gain extensive knowledge and understanding of the different areas within an early years setting. She has completed her NVQ Levels 2, 3, and 4 in Early Years Care and Education, along with a Level 5 qualification in Leadership and Management. Her passion for career progression drives her to support her team’s knowledge and self-development.
Donna has been with Bright Horizons since 2012. As a Nursery Manager, she believes that children are at the heart of everything the team does. By supporting and empowering the team, she helps to create enabling environments where all children can thrive—offering them opportunities to explore and engage in a wide range of play-based activities.
In addition to her professional role, Donna is a mother of three boys. Her youngest has attended the nursery setting, giving her valuable insight into nursery life from a parent’s perspective. This experience has deepened her understanding of the importance of ensuring that parents feel confident and reassured that their children are in a safe, secure environment where they can learn and grow.
Julie joined Bright Horizons in September 2006. She holds a Level 4 qualification in childcare and is a qualified Level 3 Forest School Leader. Julie has a strong passion for creating environments that spark children's curiosity, awe, and wonder. She particularly enjoys working in outdoor learning spaces and believes that these experiences are fundamental to children's development.
Julie's son attended the nursery from the age of five months, which allowed her to maintain a positive work-life balance. This personal experience has given her a deep understanding of the challenges parents face when returning to work and helps her empathise with their needs during this transition.
She recognises the vital importance of the first five years of a child’s life and values the critical role that the nursery and its staff play in supporting each child’s early development.
