Tops Day Nursery in Newport, Isle of Wight, is a friendly and active nursery based at the Isle of Wight College and is open to all. The team of staff offers happy, nurturing care for the hours parents need. The nursery offers flexible hours and parents can book to the nearest 15 minutes, to allow them more choice over childcare.

This nursery is part of a group that provides the most eco-sustainable childcare and education in the UK, being respectful of the environment and acting to reduce, re-use and recycle resources is an important part of the culture and routine for the children and staff.

The staff provide a safe and stimulating environment for children from three-months-old until they reach school age. They also run a Mini Beasts club over the school holidays for four- to seven-year-olds. The nursery is open from 6am to 8pm, subject to demand.

Tops Day Nurseries has a number of extracurricular activities such as Tops Cooking School, Tops Forest School, meditation, yoga, Rugby Rangers, Boogie Mites, tooth brushing and much more.

Tops Newport can offer up o 30 hours funding which is available for two-, three- and four-year-olds.

While each child is at Tops Newport, families are always welcome to call as often as they like to discuss their child's progress and day at nursery.

Important information such as sleep times, nappy changes and milk and food intake is recorded by staff and included in a daily report on EYLOG.

The nursery group has a no-added sugar menu in all its nurseries, offering children a nutritional, healthy diet early in their lives.

This is my daughter’s second time at Tops and already she is thriving. My daughter had been attending another nursery twice a week from 6 months old and is now 2 and a half. Both times at Tops she has stayed dry all day 8-5:15 but was holding it at her other nursery so much that she was soaking her
shoes and wetting up to 4 times even though at home she could hold her wee in for up to 3 hours but still managing to use the potty and toilet without wetting. So thank you Tops for reminding my daughter to go for a wee and that she doesn’t have to hold it in till she soaks herself. Also loving that you are keeping us up to date with what the children are doing in their day. Thumbs up from me, you are doing a great job

My daughter has been attending Tops nursery in Newport for almost a year and a half and she absolutely loves it. She can’t wait to go and loves telling me all about what she’s been doing. They have so many activities to do that she is constantly stimulated, she loves doing the boogie mites. The staff
are all amazing and she talks about them all the time. She has come on really well with her speech, counting, knowing the alphabet and singing songs. I can’t fault Tops nursery at all, they all do a fantastic job and I would highly recommend them to anyone.

It’s so hard to leave your little ones with others when you have to return to work but the Nursery staff have been wonderful to my granddaughter right from when she first started in the baby room, to retuning after the lockdown gap, to a new room in investigators, it was hard for her to settle again,
due to the break in routine but the staff have worked hard to ensure she is happy and confident in her surroundings, so now she even pretends to phone her key worker on the days she’s at home, to tell her what adventures she has been up to. All the staff are welcoming, caring and understanding. I would only recommend Tops to anyone considering nursery care for their children, as they are simply wonderful.

A really amazing nursery that has always felt like home for my 2 children. They come home tired because of all the things they have done and the fun they have had! My youngest started there when she was one and it made going back to work just that little bit easier knowing they would care for her with
such high standards. She has grown with confidence and engaged in activities that she loves (when I asked her, she said painting was her favourite). I will be sad when the day comes for her to go to school.

Both of my children have gone to Tops and both absolutely loved it. We love that they are very eco friendly, they encourage natural play and imagination. The staff are always happy and friendly, my youngest is always talking about her favourite staff member.

I enjoyed watching my grandson do the dancing on line and like seeing all his photos having a wonderful time at the cabin. He loves going and has made some lovely friends. I have seen his confidence and conversation grow so much these last few months. Thank you very much.

My son has been going to Tops since he was in the baby room. I can't fault the care that they have given him. All staff are really pleasant and carrying, and the manager is fantastic.
The rooms are always well prepared for the children providing lots of fantastic activities and chances of exploring
different textures. Gives the children great learning experiences.
The nursery provides observations in a timely manner, and I was constantly aware of what was going on in my sons day via the app they use.
Brilliant nursery - highly recommend.

The staff at Tops Day Nurseries: Newport Nursery have all bee fantastic with my youngest son. He had never been left by either of his parents before. They take time to ensure the children are comfortable and secure in their environment. Their communication with parents and carers is outstanding. My
son is happy, healthy and thriving in their setting. They go above and beyond when I call and ask random, last minute questions and will do their best to accommodate our childcare needs and last minute bookings if they have space, being shift workers. I cannot fault them in the slightest. I walk away feeling happy and confident that I am leaving my child in the very capable hands of all the staff for the day.

What a fantastic place, very welcoming and supportive. My son was born in the middle of the pandemic so hadn’t really meet any other children, all of the staff have really supported him to interact with others children and different adults. All of the staff are very positive and the food options that

My little girl has been attending this nursery for six weeks now and I couldn’t be happier. All the staff are so friendly and take great care of my little one. She has built a lovely bond with her key person and the other staff there and happily goes with them when I drop her off. I love seeing all

Tops Day Nurseries: Newport Nursery is an absolutely excellent nursery. My daughter started just a month ago and was extremely unsettled, however in the short time she’s been there she has flourished and is starting to become a lot happier there, all thanks to the amazing staff and her key worker. They’re
extremely supportive to both me and my daughter and are always keeping me up to date at the end of each session as well as through the app. The naturalistic interior of the nursery is just beautiful. Highly recommend this nursery to anyone looking. Five star from me.

I highly recommend Tops Day Nurseries: Newport Nursery. My son has attended since he was nine months old and is now three years old. All of the staff are fantastic and the thought that goes into the activities and environment is brilliant. The communication is great and they have been great through

I would never think twice about recommending Tops Day Nurseries: Newport Nursery to anyone! All of the ladies are extremely kind and go above and beyond all the time. My son had just turned six months when he started nursery. The nursery manager and the rest of the team always put my mind at rest, giving
us in depth handovers of what he had got busy with that day and always reminding us to call if needed. He always goes to the ladies with a beaming smile each time he goes. Collectively as a team, they have put my mind at rest when I am at work, knowing that his needs are always met and put first along with everyone else's. The girls are all extremely professional, friendly and approachable if we have any questions. I love to see our little ones updates on the app which provides us with a daily entry of naps, changes, foods and bottles, along with observations of what he is getting up to and that beaming smile! Highly recommend.

My sister-in-law highly recommended Tops Day Nurseries: Newport Nursery to us after my two nephews attended the setting for years. We moved to the Isle of Wight this year during the pandemic and were quite worried how our two year old would adjust. I have no words to thank the nursery and all the lovely
staff for helping her settle in so well and so quickly, along with the good care she's receiving. She's glowing, she's super happy and she's proactively asking to go to nursery! Every single member of staff I have talked to has been lovely, helpful and amazing. The communication with all the departments is quick and efficient. Totally recommended.

We absolutely love Tops. I love everything about it from the eco friendly focus to the well organized thought out rooms for the kids. Each day there is a new activity set for the children and fresh healthy homemade food made on site. Everyone single one of the girls on site is professional and friendly.
They all know my daughter by name and make her feel so welcome each morning. My daughter absolutely loves coming in every day and especially loves the cooking club on a Thursday. I am so so happy I decided to send my daughter here, and we will be sad when it’s time to leave for primary school! Thank you so much for all you do for the children. This is a well run, extremely cared for nursery/preschool run by an amazing, professional and super friendly manager. High fives you guys! Keep up the good work!

Absolutely superb staff and brilliant facilities for young ones to learn in. There is a tool online which allows parents to see what stage of progression their child is at, with photos included and goals achieved. I would recommend this nursery to anyone!

Fantastic nursery! I'll always recommend. Wish my son could go forever.


My son has attended since November 2019. He has recently transitioned into the next room for 2-3year olds. He loves every visit with smiles at the door, and I feel comfortable leaving him for long workdays, knowing he is well

looked after and stimulated with fun and educational activities all day and healthy meals.
My son is under the nursery SENCO, she is very knowledgeable and willing to help with every aspect, explains and helps us with ways to get the best potential from him. His room helpers are so friendly and positive, the admin team are so helpful, and all are lead by a fantastic, friendly manager, who is always willing to help. She leads an amazing nursery full of lovely staff, beautiful interior, fun activities and amazing opportunites for all attending.

I would highly recommend Tops nursery. Although my little girl hasn’t attended for the last few months due to the covid 19 pandemic, staff have kept in contact and helped with a return date. She last attended in November, and the staff were fantastic at encouraging her and helping her progress.
