Lime Grove Day Nursery is a purpose-built nursery offering high-quality care and education to children aged six weeks to five years. Friendly and well-established, Lime Grove provides a happy, sociable environment where individual care is prioritised.

Outside is a large, fully enclosed and well-equipped garden with a nature area to encourage wild life, a playhouse, climbing frames, a vegetable garden and a restful sensory area. Understanding the significance of outdoor play, the nursery ensures daily access to this space.

The nursery is proud to have achieved an Eco Schools Green Flag Award.

Lime Grove also offer the extracurricular activity of Tiny Mites every Friday between 10am and 11am.

Lime Grove is a wonderful nursery. After viewing at least 6 different nurseries and not liking them for different reasons, Lime Grove felt like the right one for my 9-month-old. I loved that they made food from fresh and that they provided everything (formula, meals, nappies, wipes, bottles), my daughter
didn’t take to the breakfast cereal (fussy!) so the nursery kindly provided porridge which she has at home and loves. I was really worried about her sleeping well at nursery as there was not a separate sleeping room, however she sleeps great which is so reassuring. All the ladies working in the baby room are great, so welcoming, friendly and attentive. I was so keen to send my daughter to a nursery where I felt that they were invested in her development and Lime Grove is very keen to help her with crawling, walking etc.

Very happy with the care provided to my daughter at Lime Grove. They have always been really supportive of her development and really informative with the handover at the end of the day!
She has been attending since she was nine months old and is now three. She has always enjoyed going and has learnt
so much during her time there!

I'm very happy with the care provided by Lime Grove. My son has attended for the last 3 years and moved through all the rooms in this time. I feel that the nursery is well run and the staff seem to be engaged and hardworking. The outdoor space is excellent and the children have plenty of time to play
outside in a safe, enclosed and exciting place. As my son is now in pre-school, the staff have been working hard to help prepare him for school, both with his education (mark making, phonics etc.) and life skills and doing tasks independently for himself. The nursery put on several events throughout the year and caregivers have the chance to be involved (such as parents' afternoon teas, etc.) which helps to build the nursery community and helps you get to know the staff. I highly recommend Lime Grove.

All three of my girls have been through Lime Grove Nursery and I've had a great experience of both the staff and setting for all three.
I would say I'm quite a clingy mum and the staff catered for my needs as well as those of my children.
The way that each room has members of staff that know the
children so well is so lovely and as my littlest one (3) has found going to nursery the hardest it's been absolutely imperative that I trust and know well every member of staff in the room. I also think the way the key person works in each room is brilliant - my daughter's key person has really got to know and understand my daughter, has again really helped everything from what she likes to play with to how she goes to sleep.
All in all Lime Grove has been a fantastic place to have my children at.

Lime Grove was our first choice of nursery and they are fantastic! My child started earlier this year at 11 months old and she was very anxious of strangers. Seven months on and she is a different child and much more confident. I am a worrier so I am reassured by the updates I receive via the app and
it's lovely to see photos of her having fun. They have been very good with my daughter's allergy and I feel the appropriate level of processes are in place to avoid mistakes. The only recommendation I would make would be for the dairy alternative milk to be a fortified option, but this is not a criticism.
The staff at Lime Grove are brilliant, and they know each child by name. Each room has a diverse range of cultures which is celebrated, and they encourage a variety of play and lots of play time outside in the garden. I would highly recommend Lime Grove and thank you to the staff for all you do.

An excellent, friendly and caring environment for young children to grow and develop. Staff are incredibly warm and everyone always seemed to know our child by name, even if they didn’t work in the actual room. Over the course of our two years attending Lime Grove, our child really learned a lot: in
only two sessions a week, he developed abilities in basic numeracy and literacy, frequently coming home with new knowledge that we had never expected him to have already acquired. Snacks and meals always seemed balanced and nutritious (and to his liking).
Only one small suggestion for improvement would be to dampen the ambient noise levels in the rooms (mainly Butterflies) with acoustic absorbing panels or something similar. The noise levels in there always seemed high whenever I went in, and I think it would contribute to a calmer environment for the children if something were done to remedy this.

Both of my children currently attend Lime Grove Day Nursery (Caterpillars and Bumblebees). The staff in both rooms are brilliant. My girls love the nursery. Overall, they offer the best care and attention a parent could wish for and I cannot recommend them enough.
My eldest had a severe speech delay
before starting at Lime Grove Day Nursery. After nearly a year, her language soared and she's caught up with her peers.
The family inclusive activities are brilliant, such as Mother's Day tea, Grandparent's Day and other stay and plays. Children also get the opportunity for external experiences, such as seeing police officers/cars and the fire engine.
The planned activities are age appropriate and encourage children to be independent with day to day activities.
Their app keeps parents updated with photos and milestones. Parent's evenings are informative and a good chance to discuss progress with your child's key person. They have also been excellent when transitioning from nappies to the potty.

My two children have attended Lime Grove since they were one year old, and we've had a fantastic experience throughout. The staff are excellent - incredibly professional and caring and build great connections with the children. They go the extra mile to help children develop and aim to be flexible to
their needs.


The rooms are always very welcoming with lots of rotating activities and children are encouraged to be independent in choosing what to play with as well as for self-care. The garden is definitely a bonus, a lovely area which is well maintained and has lots to do. The food is healthy, varied and well-balanced. Would highly recommend Lime Grove - the team feels like extended family and it will be a sad day when my youngest leaves.

Limegrove is a fantastic nursery. All staff I meet are polite and always say hello.

My child is in bumblebee class and he loves going to nursery, the staff are attentive, happy and upbeat and all the children are always busy playing or doing actives when I go in there.

happy with the service and care provided, i would recommend the nursery to any new parent looking to send their child to nursery.

She recently went up to Pre-school this year and I can't credit the team enough for her development, she is learning something new each week and if there are areas

Fantastic friendly and knowledgable staff.

My children have been fortunate to attend Lime Grove Day Nursery and began in the baby room right through to Pre-school. We have had one or both children in attendance here over the last five years and always had a great experience. The teams are focused and friendly and the activities and use of outdoor
space is fantastic.
As my daughter prepares to leave to start school in September I know as a family we will miss the security that Lime Grove and the wonderful team here offer, the activities and the sense of fun. Worth every effort to drive from the next village to attend Lime Grove, so very glad to of found this nursery in such a lovely setting. Thank you to team Lime Grove!

My son has been at Lime Grove Day Nursery for 2 years now, he started in the baby room and is currently in Bumblebees, since day one our experience has been nothing but positive. The staff are amazing, so friendly and all my sons key workers have supported him at each stage of his Lime Grove journey.
The facilities are incredible, especially the outside space. I would recommend Lime Grove to any parent looking for childcare for their child.

My son has been attending this nursery since he was 9 months. He is now 2.5. Fantastic experience overall. The staff are so so caring and great at keeping you up to date with what hes doing each week. The food he is given is great variety and always trying new things. His ladybird and bumblebee key

Our son has been at Lime Grove Day Nursery (Hemel Hempstead) for over a year now and we can't rate it highly enough. All the staff are friendly and attentive, while each Key Person our son has had invests so much time and effort in his development. It is clear that the staff tailor their approach to
each child's need and rate of learning and our son is thriving in this environment. The facilities are fantastic and the garden is such a great space, while the food is varied and healthy. As parents, we feel the communication is excellent and we have been given ideas and guides on how to help our boy develop certain areas he is struggling with. In other aspects where he is excelling, the staff make a conscious effort to challenge him and get the most out of his day. He's formed such a close bond with his Key People and the feedback we get on a daily basis is detailed and informative. It's clear that everyone who works at Lime Grove has a real passion for what they do and this transmits to the children and parents.

My little one has been at Limegrove Nursery since she was two years old and is now in the preschool room. I'm very happy with her key worker and the room manager and generally everyone in her room. The nursery staff are easy to talk to about any concerns, provide daily detailed feedback and make appropriate
adjustments where needed on suggestions. The nursery has definitely had a positive influence on my little ones' overall development and well-being.

Our daughter attended Lime Grove from age 2-4 and we have nothing but positive things to say from our time there. The nursery doesn't just tick boxes, their care and attention to detail in all areas is exemplary. During some of the most stressful times, our daughter was so well supported by all staff
but especially her key workers who particularly are still very much remembered by all of us. The environment was lovely and I never worried about dropping our daughter off, even on those tricky mornings. In pre-school, we felt our daughter was allowed to enjoy herself thoroughly with plenty of play, but she was also very well prepared for starting school through time spent sitting at tables and on the carpet and starting simple phonics and maths. The children were supported in making strong friendships and these have carried on, despite friends attending different schools.


I have and will continue to recommend Lime Grove to friends with children.

Kelly is the Manager of Lime Grove Day Nursery in Hemel Hempstead and has a wealth of experience, having worked at Childbase for 22 years. Kelly has a Level 3 qualification in their Early Years.


What is your favourite part of working at Lime Grove?
I would say our garden is my favourite feature - people are often 'wowed' by it as they don’t expect it to be so big. Each room has its own free-flow garden which is amazing and another great space for the children.


What are you most proud of about your nursery/team?
I'm very proud of my team's approach and the amazing bonds that they form with their key children and families.
