Considering the fees, these kinds of management issues should not affect children. Also, this is one of the few nurseries in Southampton that does not accept the "Enjoy Benefit" scheme, which is unfortunate for families who are not eligible for public funds.

Warning to parents: Bright Horizons Portswood Day Nursery & Preschool (Southampton) provided subpar care. Issues included inadequate settling, inconsistent caregivers (>5 staff), injury from inattention, hygiene concerns, sick children attending (my child contracted a virus), and delayed access to tracking app. Excessive 2-month notice period demanded when withdrawing my child. Unprofessional, uninvolved, and lacking empathy. The manager and The regional manager accountable. Avoid at all costs.

Ollie has settled so well in to nursery in the last few weeks and this is down to the kindness and support he has been given by the baby room team. We truly feel so welcome by and proud of the nursery that we have chosen for our son.

From the very beginning, I have felt incredibly supported by all the staff, and I truly appreciate the care and effort that has gone into making my son's transition smooth and comfortable.

The team at Bright horizon are exceptional-each member is understanding, patient, and genuinely caring. It is clear that the well-being of the children is always a priority, and this has given me great confidence and peace of mind. Knowing that my child is in a safe, happy, and nurturing environment means the world to me as a parent.

It is evident that the nursery is not just a place for learning but also a space where children feel valued and secure. Seeing my son settle in so well and enjoy his time there is a testament to the dedication and warmth of the staff.

We consider Bright Horizons Portswood Day Nursery and Preschool a second home for our little girl. We found Bright Horizons when COVID outbreak was still active and found this was the safest setting for her - they listened to all our concerns and made us feel at ease to register her there despite the current situation at the time. She attended since the age of 1 up until she entered school - and I have to say it was the best decision we have made for her care so far. Admin staff and their teachers are amazing at managing the nursery, making sure children's needs are met and they are cared for with love, kindness and respect. Our little one blossomed in her time at the nursery, made precious friends and more importantly, was extremely happy to go (and sometimes didn't even want to leave!) Highly recommend the setting and a big thank you to everyone at Bright Horizons Portswood.

Safety, warmth, and happy children are their main goals every day. And seeing that, as a parent, and seeing how much my baby enjoys it every day, is beautiful. No day is the same with Bright Horizons so I highly recommend it, with all my heart.

We transferred our child to the nursery when we relocated to the area. He was very happy in his previous setting, but thankfully he was given a warm welcome at Portswood Bright Horizons and has thrived in both the nursery and preschool rooms. We feel the staff are committed, nurturing and supportive, and both the inside and garden spaces are stimulating, without being overwhelming.

The nursery also has a very large garden, the children spend a lot of time outdoors and have a lot of activities to keep them entertained. The staff keeps parents up to date using a convenient app, which is almost like a little diary of your child’s day at nursery which is lovely.

Additionally, we are a non-traditional family and have always been made to feel welcome.

Our child has attended Bright Horizons Portswood since it reopened after lockdown in 2020 and will graduate from there this year. We have had an outstanding experience with this nursery. The staff genuinely know and care for the children, they are encouraged and built up and I truly believe that my child has had the best experience to prepare her for ‘big school’. Although this nursery may be more expensive than many others, it is worth it 100%.

The nursery is very well managed with friendly and cheerful staff and we are confident that our child is safe.

His nursery experience has surpassed our expectations and we will all be a little bit sad when he leaves.

Bright Horizon, truly so bright! I wouldn’t fail to recommend this nursery to anyone. They are top standard! I love how they put in efforts to see that the children, my girl inclusive, get the best. As a parent, our priority is to know that our kids are safe and getting the best when they are away from home. My boy graduated from this nursery and my girl is now in this nursery, I can never fault Bright Horizon. They never hesitate if there are any problems to contact us, and also always share the developmental stages of my daughter with us. They made it seem like we are all a part of a family. Truly appreciate all staff and management, thank you!

Our experience with Bright Horizons Portswood Day Nursery and Preschool has been incredible. As a new mum, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but every single member of staff has made us feel so welcome, and have given great care to my son. I can leave in the knowledge that he is safe and being well looked after. The team are completely professional, keep me updated either by phone or on the app, and I love to see the progress he is making. My son has made great bonds with the staff and there has been very little turnover. This was something important to us. The healthy menu was also of importance and they are very flexible with dietary requests. The space is always very clean and the garden is lovely. I would wholeheartedly recommend without hesitation. Thank you for making what was a nervous experience, into a beautiful one.

Our boy enjoys going to Portswood Day Nursery; he goes in happily in the morning and comes out happy in the afternoon, and that’s what matters to me and his daddy the most. He started in Toddler’s room and has been in Pre-school room now for about 9 months. The gardens are amazing. Make me wish to be a child again. Lots of space and different equipment and play things, perfect for letting a child explore and experiment and learn. Staff are nice and friendly and kind. I happen to have asked my son yesterday which carer is the kindest and he said “all of them are kind”. I enjoy reading about different activities planned each day (besides plenty of free play time) in the app. The management team are easy to communicate with and always respond quickly and helpfully. On the whole, we are very happy with our choice of daycare.

Our 2-year-old has been attending the nursery for a little over a year now and we feel that we can say with some confidence that the level of care and attention provided at the nursery is exceptional. The carers are all extremely attentive, loving and supportive with staff making an effort to learn the names of all the children across the nursery. When starting, the level of information conveyed over the app really helped settle our nerves, building trust and comfort that our child was safe and well. The management are very adaptable and transparent and make every effort to adapt to parent's schedules. Working at a University there is a discounted Uni daycare however we do not wish to switch as we are that impressed with the level of service and care regardless of the discounted rate. Being an only child we think the nursery is an invaluable tool to teach the importance of playing and sharing with others and his development has accelerated thanks to being around other children.

He's three now but has been attending since he was one and I've nothing but praise for everyone who's looked after him, the management is also superb and transparent.

Will highly recommend this nursery to anyone looking for a safe and nurturing environment for their child!

My son was in the setting from 9 months to 5 years. As he spent most of his week at the setting, it's been an important part of his life and development. The team had great success helping him develop and grow. It was difficult to take part, due to work. However, the team ensured I was informed and involved at all times. They have gone above and beyond my expectations and I felt safe knowing that he would be cared for and nourished both physically and mentally. The nursery had a great impact on his life and this shows even through school. The only negative is he's now at school as he dearly misses the team and setting, they were like an extended family but always professional. If ever a problem did arise the management team dealt with it in great detail, carefully and never gave me cause for concern. Overall a fantastic team led by quality management with an honest concern for his welfare and educational journey, I will always be grateful for his amazing time at Bright Horizons Portswood.

My daughter has gone to Bright Horizons, Portswood since she was 11 months old and transitioned through babies, toddlers, nursery and preschool. Each phase has been handled brilliantly by the staff and they have provided a caring, nurturing and stimulating environment. The staff have supported her social and academic development, ensuring that a relevant pace is set for her and that she is safe and happy when she goes to preschool. They have provided a truly amazing level of care and I would have no hesitation in recommending the nursery to anyone.
