Bright Horizons Wavendon Day Nursery and Preschool is surrounded by wonderful gardens giving it a cosy and homely feel. There is a four-week settling in period which is free of charge and the nurseries own nutritiously balanced meals cooked on-site.

The baby room is a cosy and quiet area with lots of wooden toys to keep babies entertained. There is a 'no-shoe' policy in the baby room to ensure that their play area is kept to a high standard of cleanliness.

In the nursery and toddler room, children participate in messy play, ICT and learning about personal hygiene with toilet training and hand washing.

The pre-school has a wide range of resources such as an interactive whiteboard to teach lessons and key skills to help your child prepare for school.

The large garden gives access to hours of fun with a climbing frame, sandpit and bike track.

My child is very happy within this nursery, and always has a full day of things she has done to tell me about every day. It's a very welcoming nursery and the staff always look bright and bubbly and always happy to help with any questions or enquiries I may have. The change of activities and continuous
change of the garden activities, materials and play equipment show passion and putting the children first which is fantastic to see.

The nursery went the extra mile to make Halloween fun for the children. The nursery used the opportunity to raise money for a local charity. My daughter loved the chocolate apple that was made. The week before, I attended a parents evening and it was amazing to look at my child's work and to talk to
her keyworker who clearly knows my child well. Thanks to the great efforts of the staff, my child is happy and developing well.

We love Asquith Wavendon for the outdoor space and lovely staff. Both of our boys have been there with our eldest recently starting school and transitioned smoothly.

I love that the boys can be boys and enjoy learning through play.

All the staff at Wavenden have provided excellent care for my son since he started. It has been wonderful to watch him form close relationships with staff, especially his new key worker. She clearly knows him very well and it is fantastic to see him develop and flourish under her care. It is so reassuring
to see him so happy and safe at nursery.

Very happy with my daughter's development at nursery. She always looks forward to her time at nursery and talking about her friend there and the staff.

She never has any trouble or gets upset when we drop her off in the morning and is happy for us to leave her which is very encouraging and comforting

to know. It makes us confident that she enjoys her time there. Overall, very pleased.

Our daughter has been at nursery for 6 weeks now and has settled in very quickly. All the staff members are very friendly and welcoming, making it easy for children to build strong relationships with them and enjoy their time at nursery. It's a very happy environment - lots of singing, playing, outdoor
time in the fantastic garden, painting, baking, monthly 'interest' topics (e.g. travel, weather etc). Communication with home is very good, and the learning log kept for each child is great to track their progress. We've been really pleased with the quality of meals provided and how children are encouraged to be independent in feeding themselves.

Photos are occasionally sent home of your child enjoying an activity or having a birthday cake presented to them on their special day. This was unexpected and really lovely to see!

Overall, we are delighted with how easy the transition to nursery has been and are really pleased with our choice. Our daughter is having a fantastic time!

Very friendly and welcoming staff. My daughter is settled and is always happy to go into nursery.

The facilities on site are excellent, from the huge front and back gardens to the different activities on offer. The variety of food is very good, giving the opportunity to try lots of different styles.

Generally, we are very happy with the nursery. The staff are excellent and our daughter is very happy here. Only negative point is that it could do with being redecorated.

This is a wonderful, caring setting for my child. The staff are friendly and caring and take a real personal care of each child. The facilities are great and each week the children learn so much. My child's development has come on leaps and bounds during their time here. My child is happy, confident
and articulate thanks to this setting. They often are upset that I have come to collect them so early - despite is actually being 5.30pm!

I have used Asquith nurseries for a few years now. My child started off at one and due to it closing down she started at Wavendon and I have to say I have seen a huge difference!
The staff are so friendly and helpful and always take the time to talk to you about your child and inform you what they
have done with their day.
They create activities for the children that stimulates, catches their imagination and teaches them at the same time.
They follow any care plan you set for them and stick to it.
Since starting this nursery, my child has come on leaps and bounds. T
he difference between the two nurseries has been phenomenal. This is an outstanding nursery where they are very attentive to children's needs and development.
I was so worried to leave my child but they have made mine and my daughters experience fantastic and I actually cannot wait for my son to be part of their nursery family.

Facilities are good. The outside grounds are spacious and provide space to run around in. Of course, funding is essential so my advice is to please ensure this nursery is provided with an additional budget or funds for equipment and props for the garden and rooms. Never be complacent. Funds are always
needed to help push ideas/staff morale. A wage increase of 3% would help retain and motivate the staff.

Current Review Score: 8.6 (8.579)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.6 (8.579) out of 10 for Bright Horizons Wavendon Day Nursery and Preschool is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.7 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.896 for Bright Horizons Wavendon Day Nursery and Preschool is calculated as follows: ( (44 Excellents x 5) + (3 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 48 Ratings = 4.896
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.683 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bright Horizons Wavendon Day Nursery and Preschool is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 65 number of registered child places is 13. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 13 = 0.308
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Nursery Manager

I have almost 30 years experience of working with young children. I have worked in private households, pre-schools, nursery classes and day nurseries. I love watching children develop the skills they need to transition through the developmental stages of their early childhood and I love the way it makes me feel knowing I played a part in that.

I am really looking forward to joining the team at Wavendon. The nursery has a wonderful homely feel to it and the warm welcome I received on my first visit was amazing.

I have one grown-up son who is now a firefighter. I live with my husband and our 2 miniature schnauzers Reggie and Frank. I love spending time with my family and friends and enjoy travelling to the sunshine.
