  • Bright Horizons Wavendon Day Nursery and Preschool, Milton Keynes
Bright Horizons Wavendon Day Nursery and Preschool is surrounded by wonderful gardens giving it a cosy and homely feel. There is a four-week settling in period which is free of charge and the nurseries own nutritiously balanced meals cooked on-site.

The baby room is a cosy and quiet area with lots of wooden toys to keep babies entertained. There is a 'no-shoe' policy in the baby room to ensure that their play area is kept to a high standard of cleanliness.

In the nursery and toddler room, children participate in messy play, ICT and learning about personal hygiene with toilet training and hand washing.

The pre-school has a wide range of resources such as an interactive whiteboard to teach lessons and key skills to help your child prepare for school.

The large garden gives access to hours of fun with a climbing frame, sandpit and bike track.

I highly recommend Bright Horizons Wavendon Day Nursery and Preschool. My baby has only been attending since January 2021, he did settling in sessions since November 2020. From the minute we registered with the nursery their communication has been excellent, providing us with details about the nursery,
what their new practices are in line with Covid and how we can contact if needed. From the minute I dropped my baby off for his first settle I felt safe and secure, my baby was not phased at all and even though he had a wonderful time they still provided me with photos to show what he had done. The manager and deputy have always answered emails very quickly and seem so approachable. Even though we have had minimal face to face contact, nothing seems too much trouble for them or the nursery. I knew I had made the right decision when on our 3rd settle session I collected my baby and his key person described his character, personality and development. The team have made my transition back to work so much easier.

Wonderful nursery, but I think it’s the staff that make it so special at Wavendon. From day one, they were so supportive at settling my little one into nursery life. Lovely baby and toddler room with a brilliant garden. They always do lots of activities and celebrate every occasion. My little one has
come so far since starting at the nursery, and absolutely loves being there. I couldn’t recommend the nursery enough, and I can’t thank the nursery nurses in the baby/toddler room and the manager of the site for their continued hard work.

My child has been with the nursery for 5 months and while been at the nursery she has developed so much. The staff at the nursery are very helpful and always happy. My child feels safe and happy while she is at the nursery and I would recommend the nursery to family and friends.

My little one just loves going to nursery. The staff are fantastic, and the environment is safe and natural with a real garden and not concrete all around where she can explore nature at its best.
She has grown so much since attending Wavendon nursery, and every day she comes up with new words/phrases.
We can also see at home her progress in terms of manners/etiquette, and she’s always mentioning to us her friends or key workers names. She usually does not want to go home when I pick her up as she’s enjoying herself so much!

My son loves going to this nursery. He settled in with free settling in sessions which really helped on his first day. The staff team are all so friendly they really made me feel at ease. He loves their beautiful garden and comes home with lots of pictures of what he’s been up to. The nursery has helped
my son to grow and flourish.

My daughter spent a year in preschool here and absolutely thrived. I cannot fault Wavendon on any aspect, especially the way they cared for my girl and encouraged her to be the best version of herself.
The most genuine, caring setting I have experienced. A second family. We are sad to be leaving. Thank
you.

I have nothing but great things to say about this nursery and the staff there. They look after your children like they are their own, they notice everything and character changes, keep you informed and genuinely care about your children. The facilities are great and the garden is one of the key things
I liked as it is completely private and not overlooked at all. My son has been going for 2 years and loves it and has great friends in both child and adults. I have full confidence in all the staff. They teach him lots not just academic values but humanity values, how they care shows in the children and their behaviour. Very happy nursery.

My daughter has been at the nursery for 2 months now and has settled in extremely well.
Since joining the nursery she has started to walk, has started to explore so much more and is so chatty and happy.
My daughter absolutely loves the food at the nursery since the new chef has taken over and eats
every single thing they make.
One of the big pro's to choosing this nursery over others was that Nappies are included within the price which I have not found at any of the other local Nurseries - this is a great touch.
I would highly recommend this Nursery to anyone.

Asquith Wavendon Pre-School & Day Nursery is an amazing nursery. They have welcomed my son and worked really hard as a team to ensure he settled and transitioned well between rooms. They really care about children and treat them as individuals and personalise their care accordingly.

I won't hesitate

to send my youngest son there too when I return to work.

Our boy had been going to this nursery since he was 10/11months old. Couldn’t fault the care he received in the baby and toddler room. However, this positive experience didn’t last long, when he was moved into the Nursery room. We saw such a change in him, from a boy who used to absolutely love to talk
about his nursery and staff, to a boy having an absolute dislike to go to nursery and people around him.
Whatever the assurance was given to us about his care by the management team we didn’t see the same approach and attitude by some of the staff members including key people in his routine. Complete disconnection with the child and with us.
Our experience with this nursery and the staff have changed so much in last two months that we ended up terminating the contract with an immediate effect as advised by the nursery manager.
Not the right place to send your child if he/she is a sensitive soul. Staff are too busy to give a little bit more attention to a child who needs it for short period of time.

My daughter has loved coming to nursery since the day she started. The 8 weeks of settling in sessions were a massive bonus as it is not widely available in the area. Having been in baby and toddler room, she has flourished and now has been in nursery room for about 6 months. We could not be more proud
of her development and achievements in this time. Staff are amazing and clearly give everything to the job and provide such fantastic care for all the children. The management team are great and so welcoming, I couldn’t be more happy with the nursery we picked. Thanks, Wavendon, you’ve truly been an amazing part of not just our daughter's life but ours too.

My godson comes to this nursery and always comes home beaming with happiness. He is really well looked after and has such a wide range of activities to keep his young mind busy and learning all the time. The management team and staff do an amazing job and make sure that all children are really well
looked after. I would highly recommend Asquith Wavendon Pre-School & Day Nursery to anyone. Well done all who are involved.

When we arrived we were greeted by various members of staff. We were shown into the garden, where the children were doing different activities. We were all offered a drink and asked if we wanted to sit down. All the children seemed to have fun joining in the conga around the garden, many of them laughing.
We
were given the opportunity to sit and have tea with the staff and children, in the garden. We were there for an hour and a half and I enjoyed the afternoon and I'm looking forward to the next event.

Current Review Score: 8.6 (8.579)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.6 (8.579) out of 10 for Bright Horizons Wavendon Day Nursery and Preschool is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.7 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.896 for Bright Horizons Wavendon Day Nursery and Preschool is calculated as follows: ( (44 Excellents x 5) + (3 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 48 Ratings = 4.896
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.683 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bright Horizons Wavendon Day Nursery and Preschool is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 65 number of registered child places is 13. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 13 = 0.308
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Nursery Manager

I have almost 30 years experience of working with young children. I have worked in private households, pre-schools, nursery classes and day nurseries. I love watching children develop the skills they need to transition through the developmental stages of their early childhood and I love the way it makes me feel knowing I played a part in that.

I am really looking forward to joining the team at Wavendon. The nursery has a wonderful homely feel to it and the warm welcome I received on my first visit was amazing.

I have one grown-up son who is now a firefighter. I live with my husband and our 2 miniature schnauzers Reggie and Frank. I love spending time with my family and friends and enjoy travelling to the sunshine.
