Green Park Day Nursery offers a friendly and caring atmosphere for children aged from birth to five years in Reading.

The highly qualified staff implement both structured and free-play activities designed in line with EYFS principles. Children get daily access to the garden which helps to improve social, emotional and physical development. The nursery has a Nature Island which is an outdoor forest area for children aged 3+. They also offer a sing and sign programme for Under 2s and a formal phonics programme for Pre- School ahead children.

Green Park Day Nursery also offer the extracurricular activity of Usports every Friday morning for 2, 3 and 4 year olds.

The nursery offers a fully inclusive package and is open from 7.30 am-6.30 pm whilst giving a convenient service to parents.

I can't recommend this nursery enough. The staff that work there are amazing. My son is an only child and hasn't had many interactions with children of his age until he came to Green Park Nursery so it was a bit daunting for him and worrying for us. In his time here, the staff have gained his trust
quickly and helped him massively and improved his social skills so much. After each day, they give me a round up of what he has done that day, whether it be a good or bad thing, including if he's slept and what he has eaten, these minute details are extremely important to my wife and I. He used to cry loudly when I dropped him off but now he happily latches onto one of the workers and always leaves a happy child and I can't thank them all enough for the work they have done with him. The standards are high and the improvements to my son's character are immeasurably. The only problem I see is that soup is a regular on the menu and my son doesn't like it, but he enjoys his bread rolls.

I have been so impressed with my son's settling in to Green Park. The staff have been very helpful with all aspects, took time to explain the funding process and are patient and understanding with my son's speech delay, incorporating and supporting the strategies. In addition, they are all very friendly
and welcoming.

My wife and I are very happy with how well our daughter is doing at Green Park Day Nursery. She has been attending now for 1 year and loved every minute of it. We are very lucky that she has formed such a strong bond with her lead carer, who moved up with her from Caterpillars to Ladybirds which made
for a smooth transition, so much so that she runs into her arms every morning without even waving goodbye to her mum or I. Not only does she have a strong bond with her lead carer, but also the other teachers in her class who I cannot speak highly enough of.

My daughter who is in caterpillars started in July of this year at 9 months old. She settled in amazingly well and so quickly too. Her original key worker left after 3 weeks which I was disappointed in but was soon to be replaced by who I can only describe now as her “best friend”. My daughter absolutely
adores her and is so delighted to see her each morning. They have a lovely relationship which shows in her diary of events on Parent Zone. The updates are fantastic to see and how detailed they are written. The descriptions show how much attention to detail they pay and how much fun they have at the same time. My daughter loves all the sensory areas they have in the room and enjoys cruising around their newly refurbished garden. The staff are very attentive and really take the time to get to know each child’s individual needs and dislikes. My daughter's secondary key worker is also fantastic and spends a lot of time with her which is very reassuring if her key worker is off.

My daughter has flourished under the care in Green Park Day Nursery. All staff are very understanding and patient, not only with my daughter but with me also and admin staff are also very helpful and quick to respond to any queries. The level of service and education given is great and I highly recommend.

A nice and friendly nursery where children are taken good care of. It can be a bit more structured though and pre-school children can be taught specific subjects with a bit more discipline.

Overall the nursery is good.
Most of the staff are great, with child and parent.
Sometimes there is miscommunication in handovers and a lack of consistency.

My daughter started at this nursery when she was almost 7 months old and she is now 20 months. I am so happy I have chosen this day nursery.
It has a quality infrastructure (each room has its own garden), good meals and snack during the day. My daughter is always happy every time I come to pick her.
The
staff are always helpful and caring.
For me it is a day nursery of excellence.

Our son joined the nursery just before he turned 4 yrs. He settled in very quickly, having just moved from another nursery.

The first two weeks in the nursery were difficult for my son due to change of environment, like many other babies. The nursery manager decided to put him back on settle-in sessions to help him adapt better. It was a very smart suggestion and he is much happier now.

Fantastic nursery! My daughter started going to this nursery when she was 15 months. She was very unsettled initially but the staff very helpful in ensuring that she settled in happily, giving me such a peace of mind. She is now 2.5 years and over this time she has grown into a confident child and has
made friends in there. The staff are very welcoming and keeps us updated on the child's progress regularly through the app as well as with personal updates. The nursery itself is very clean, well lit with an open plan, separate sleeping areas and beautiful gardens for each age group. The food is well balanced and freshly prepared. I will never look for another nursery for my daughter. I can see that she is so happy in there and learning a lot. Would highly recommend this nursery.

Overall, I really like this nursery and would not move my son from it. The staff are brilliant at what they do, especially with my son who gets very emotional on drop off each week. Food given is fantastic and good range of activities.
Only criticism is not being made aware in advance of any non-exclusion
but contagious illness until the morning of arrival. I would like to know in advance so I can decide and plan if he attends.

Emma is the Manager of Green Park and has worked in the Early Year’s sector since 2004. Emma achieved her BA(Hons) in Early Years Child Development and Education, as well as Early Years Professional Status. Emma joined Childbase in 2013.


What is your favourite feature of Green Park?
The large spacious rooms and outdoor space including the forest school.
