  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5 out of 5 from 31 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Day Nursery / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Day Nursery receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.659 for The Co-operative Childcare Reading Nursery is calculated as follows: ( (305 Excellents x 5) + (125 Goods x 4) + (13 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 443 Ratings = 4.659

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Co-operative Childcare Reading Nursery is based on 31 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 15.6 positive Reviews (78 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 31 Reviews ÷ 15.6 Target Reached = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

We have been impressed by the pre-school activities, level of care and organization. Our daughter settled down very well and was welcomed and helped to gain confidence and enjoy all the different activities. The Pre-School provides excellent learning opportunities, and our child is closely followed and helped to develop and grow up.

My daughter has been with the nursery since August 2017 and I have been very impressed with them to date. She was just 9 months old when she started but she has settled in really well. She thoroughly enjoys her time with them and she happily waves goodbye when I drop her off!

The team is full of caring and enthusiastic individuals who undertake a variety of different activities with the children. They feedback on my daughter's general well being on a daily basis and I can see what she has been up to thanks to the various photos, newsletters etc.

The stimulating activities, home cooked food and general caring and accommodating nature of the team makes me very pleased that we choose this establishment.

Very pleased with the work of this preschool. On my first visit there, my daughter and I received a warm welcome from the preschool room manager, the nursery manager who was easy going and flexible and answered my concerns in an understanding way. The different rooms/spaces were shown with an explanation of some activities and projects. Always updated about our daughter's day with transparent communication. The location is perfect to commute to London, just a few minutes to the train station. Positive feedback from our daughter. She is excited to go to preschool and settled well in the nursery and we cannot thank the preschool leader and assistants/teachers enough for their efforts and dedication. We can be at work and be sure that she is well and safe. I looked after my daughter full time until she started nursery and we are very attentive to our child's development and we can tell she has been learning new things each day.

I first walked into The Co-operative Childcare Reading Nursery 5 months pregnant and instantly knew this was the nursery for my unborn son.
My little boy has been a full time student since August and he absolutely loves it! I also love the team I couldn’t wish for better people to care for my son whilst I have to be at work.
Settling him into nursery life was tough but the team persevered and made him comfortable in no time at all.
It’s a truly lovely nursery with a happy friendly atmosphere and has helped advance my son beyond his age. Thank you!

Our daughter has been at the nursery full time since 2015, aged one, and we cannot fault the nursery in any way. The staff are all excellent; they really care and take the time to form real bonds with the children. Our daughter has developed into an independent, confident, caring, outgoing, worldly-wise child and this is in no small part due to the stimulating environment and individual care the nursery staff provide. S looks forward to every new day at nursery (and often doesn't want to leave, even after an eleven hour day!); she knows all the staff well and has made some close friends amongst her peers. We would have no hesitation in recommending the nursery to anyone.

Both my boys are attending the nursery. I originally picked the nursery for its location as well as a good feeling when I came to visit and I have to say, I am not disappointed. The opening hours are very helpful and the staff always very pleasant. The building feels safe, clean and well looked after. The new garden outside is great and their indoor garden is fab for rainy days. Both my boys really enjoy themselves and despite a few tears every now at drop off and I know they are very happy there. The girls and boy are doing a fab job to look after them, educating them with various activities throughout the day and the structure of each day will help them once they start school I'm sure. So, thank you, reading nursery!

My daughter has been at the nursery for nearly 2 years. We are so impressed with the care and attention she gets. The variety of activities is wonderful and the enthusiasm of the staff appears to be endless. When we first viewed the nursery, I got a really good feeling about it and thankfully I have been proved right. Can't recommend it highly enough.

I'm very pleased with the care my child receives from the setting. My child has a good bond with his key worker and all the staff are very friendly and welcoming. My child always seems very happy when I collect him. My partner enjoys reading his daily diary that comes home after every session. I enjoy seeing the different activities he gets up to on the nursery facebook page. The hours the nursery is open perfectly suit my working hours as does the location. We would highly recommend the nursery to our friends and family.

My daughter is usually at nursery full-time and all day. I work in London so those hours really suits my time. In the first week of July, however, the trains were cancelled from Paddington where I normally travel through. I had to phone up the nursery after 5pm to inform them that I'll be having to go all the way to Waterlook. The nursery manager was so understanding and waited with my daughter until I got there at 8pm. She was so kind and at no extra cost.

I cannot recommend this nursery enough. The staff here are professional, caring and regularly go above and beyond. With an on-site cook, the meals are freshly prepared. They cater extremely well for children with allergies, providing suitable alternatives so no-one misses out. The opening hours are some of the longest in Reading and its location means it is great for parents that commute from the station. The rooms have recently been renovated and new toys have been bought. The only downside is the outside space, which is a little small. However, it has recently been renovated with lots of new activities and equipment included. The fees are all inclusive, so there are no extra costs for food, nappies etc. This nursery is like a family with a very friendly atmosphere and my child has flourished here.

I have always been very happy with the care my son receives at the Co-op. The team of girls are all very friendly, efficient, warm and also firm when needed - It's a great place for my son to go (he only attends once a week) but it gives him lots of skills. Thank you to all the team who look after him.

We are very happy with the care and attention our little one gets at The Co-operative Nursery. He is very happy to come to the nursery every day and is as happy as can be when we pick him up, which is the most important thing for us.
The nursery provides a lot of learning opportunities and teaches him more than just skills, i.e. behaviour and people skills as well.
The nursery is being refurbished and they are managing the process really very well. There was no disturbance at all.
Overall really very happy and I have already recommended to a number of people.

The Co-operative Childcare Nursery in Reading is excellent. My daughter has been there for just over two years since I went back to work after maternity leave. All the staff are lovely and friendly and my daughter has bonded with many of them. She has also made a number of friends within her peer group and is benefiting hugely from social interactions with many different children and adults. She is also being gently introduced to other skills from numeracy and literacy to imaginative play and group work which will set her up well for starting school. All in all, we're extremely pleased with the nursery.

We have been very pleased with staff, the setting, activities and overall childcare ever since our daughter started nursery. Now she is in pre school and it seems our little girl is even more excited to attend her days in school and see her friends and teachers which is nice to watch and very reassuring for us parents that she is in the right place.

The Staff were extremely friendly and made the difficult transition into daycare as easy as possible for me and my son. My son bonded with his Key Person very quickly, and I felt that she really took the time to get to know and understand him. He settled in much faster than I had expected and (although there are always a few tears at drop off time) he thoroughly enjoys his nursery days and comes home happy and relaxed. I am really grateful to all the staff for their support and care and am very sad to be leaving.

My daughter started when she was 9 months old, she had some great settling in days and I was very relaxed about leaving her. She has since thrived and is extremely well entertained when she is there, the diaries give me and opportunity to find out about her day and what new things she has achieved. The staff are very gentle and nurturing towards the children and you can always tell that when I drop her off she is very happy to be cuddled by one of the staff especially when she isn't feeling good. The activities the staff do with the children are very well thought out and gives the children an opportunity to explore all day long.

This is a lovely nursery with a family feel. Staff are kind and friendly. They work hard to get to know each child and follow children's interests. They recently had a space topic and my son was playing rockets at home and counting down and blasting off. The staff always have fun activities on offer to stimulate the children. There is lots of messy play and recently they had a fab dinosaur cave. My son has been here for a few years and is always excited to attend. Thanks.

I am very happy with the Reading Childcare Nursery. The staff are always smiley and approachable, are happy to give lengthy feedback on my child's day, they do their best to accommodate any extra sessions I may need, and meet my requests and my son's needs. My son has always been happy to get there in the morning, and seem to get along with all staff. I have yet to hear of a bad day! Thumbs up all the way!

I am really happy for my son. My son started going to this nursery when he was only 8 months old. Currently, he is almost 2 years and 6 months and he has learnt so many things already. Caregivers genuinely care for the children and my son has a great bond with all his caregivers.
Management staff are very good and the caregivers are very caring and experienced.
The nursery listens to parent's problems and acts promptly. In fact, I have recommended the nursery to one of my colleagues and she is looking for a place. I do not have any concerns but a few recommendations.
- Lighting could be better. There is a refurbishment going on, hopefully, things will be better soon.
- Food and variety could be better.
- Cleanliness could be enhanced.

My son enjoyed his stay at this nursery. He joined when he was 10 months old and now he is 3+. His vocabulary has improved thanks to all the support given by the staff here at Co-operative.
I would recommend improvising learning techniques to kids under pre-school age, this would prepare them and make them more competent for the future.

My second son has settled so well at Co-op Nursery Reading. He is made to feel really welcome on arrival by the staff who know every child by name. The staff make time to ask how my son is, has he slept, eaten or any concerns.
My son certainly enjoys his days at nursery as he is happy and bubbly when he is picked up.
The staff have time to update me on what he has done, eaten and slept that day but also inform me of any new skills, words or funny stories to share from his day.
I am very happy to have chosen Co-op Reading Nursery for my son and would recommend it to other families.

I only have good things to say about the nursery. There is nothing more reassuring than knowing your child is happy, safe and offered a healthy diet when you are at work. All the staff are lovely, helpful and kind. Plus they go that extra mile and put in the effort to improve your child's overall learning and development. I was delighted when after weeks of trying to help my child say their name properly they came home from nursery one day able to say it :-)

I'm happy that I enrolled my son into Co-op Nursery. Even the management team is very friendly.
Very nice place and my son has learnt a lot and had very good progress.

This is a lovely nursery and our daughter is very happy here. They offer a range of activities and daughter (3 and a half) comes out every day raving about her 'big brilliant day'. Staff are excellent. Many thanks.

Staff are very friendly, my daughter has been in this nursery for so long that it's second home for her. As a working mother is a relief to feel that my child is well looked after, enjoys company of her friends in a protected environment. Also impressed with learning and overall emotional, physical and social development in the process. Thanks again.

We are very happy with the nursery. Our daughter has started to learn many good things and has started to make friends.

Special thanks to the Early Years assistant, and the other girls who take care of her so well. She now talks a lot and looks forward to going to the nursery.

My son started at the nursery in 2012 aged 6 months and is now in preschool, my daughter started at the end of 2014 aged 5 months. The are both extremely happy there. The nursery hours are fantastic, dropping the kids for their breakfast at 7:30 works really well, particularly if you commute from the train station and the 6:30 close gives me a lot of flexibility. My son loves the indoor garden, this is a great resource that allows them to have a run around regardless of the weather, it also makes up for the more limited outdoor space (although they do take them out to the park sometimes). Last week my son was really excited telling me about their trip to Reading library to get books. There will always be times where you want to talk about a concern you have about your child's development or something you want to give feedback on, I find all the staff to be really approachable, they have great ideas (particularly with potty training) and the management are very responsive to feedback or queries both in person and by e-mail.

Our son has been attending the nursery for a year and a half, and we have been consistently impressed with the level of care. He has formed strong bonds with key workers in each room, and they have helped him to become a confident and sociable little boy (and they seem to genuinely care about his well being - on the couple of occasions when he's been off with a bug they've contacted me to see how he is). As well as a wide range of activities on offer and good use of a slightly awkwardly shaped building, the creativity shown in events such as the recent Mini Reading Festival gives a more personal, non-chain feel to the nursery. We have had a quick response from management when we have had questions or concerns, and he definitely seems to enjoy the variety of food! The longer opening hours allow for days when commuting is a challenge; it's ideal for those that commute by train. The nursery were also supportive of our choice to use reusable nappies.

My daughter started at this nursery only three weeks ago, but so far I am very pleased with it. Meals cooked on site, very friendly and caring staff and reassuring security. My husband and I liked it when we visited an open day earlier in the year and our initial thoughts are that we chose well. I recommend it!
