Cedars Day Nursery is situated in Leighton Buzzard, close to the train station, and offers parents a fully inclusive service all-year-round. They have also obtained their Green Flag Eco-Schools award.

The nursery ensures that outdoor play is an important part of each child’s learning. Access to a large natural garden creates opportunities for all age groups of children to develop social, emotional and physical skills.

The children plant, harvest and taste a range of vegetables in their own vegetable plot.

The nursery focuses on parent partnership - once a month arrangements are made, such as stay and play or parent workshops.

Cedars also offer the extracurricular activity of Hart beeps every Monday morning from 9am across all rooms.

Long-standing, highly trained practitioners help support children's learning through a range of activities designed in line with EYFS principles.

My daughter has attended Cedars since just before she was 1 and has become a sociable, intelligent and loving young lady thanks to the help and guidance of the staff. She loves coming to nursery and has built an amazing bond with every key worker she has had in each room. She is now in the Preschool
room and is thriving and coming along leaps and bounds in her development. I will be very sad when she leaves nursery to start school next year as the care we receive is second to none!!! They most definitely deserve their Outstanding rating.

My baby and all of the family think Cedars Nursery is one of the best nurseries in the area. All of the employees are very helpful, loving the baby and knowing their needs. Also, the baby can get access to all round and personalised daycare.
Activities provided by Cedars Nursery are very good, they
enable the baby to learn, to play and to cooperate at the same time.
Last but not least, the management policy in Cedars is professional, it covers almost all situations for most babies. To summarise, we would very much like to recommend Cedars Nursery to all the other parents.

We are absolutely delighted with Cedars and the care they give our daughter.
Our daughter's key worker is amazing and has spent the time to really get to know her personality and interests and tailors her activities accordingly.
Our daughter is so happy to come here on her nursery days and thrives
on the routine that is provided.
As parents, we have such peace of mind in the care and activities that are provided.
Even the food is amazing!
Thank you, Cedars!

I just wanted to say what an amazing team you have at Cedars Day Nursery (Leighton Buzzard). The manager is fantastic and has ensured that my two girls, who have both left now (my youngest last week) were cared for and educated to a very high standard.
Cedars Day Nursery has been a very happy place
for both of our children, but they leave being more confident and prepared ready for school.
Thank you so much to all involved!

I was confident that my son was safe, which was my number one priority. Most room staff were very friendly and caring.

I did not consider that the menu any more than paying 'lip service' to the idea of healthy eating - cakes, pies, crumbles and various puddings seemed to be served on a very routine

basis. I opted out of these things for my son and he was provided with either yoghurt or fruit - but surely this would be more appropriate for all the other children too.

Cleanliness of the toilets used by the children was often poor. Elsewhere cleanliness seemed fine.

Reply from Michelle Nokes, Nursery Manager at Cedars Day Nursery (Leighton Buzzard)Thank you for taking the time to review our nursery.
The company-wide nursery menu is well thought out and, with the help of a nutritionist, is designed to give the children a healthy balanced diet. We appreciate that on occasions parents have a preference for the foods their child eats and will accommodate this where possible, as in this instance.

We continue to listen to parent feedback in regards to the food served and hope that our new Autumn/Winter menu, launching in October will further reinforce our commitment to healthy eating.

Our preschool children are given the opportunity to use the toilets independently which builds self-care skills and provides independence and confidence in preparation for school. Our staff team and domestic assistant regularly check and clean the area throughout the day.

My son has attended Cedars since he was 9 months old (April 2014). I have been thoroughly satisfied with the care right from the start. The standards, environment and attention to detail have had a huge positive impact on his development and has made him more than ready to face the big wide world of
school!

I cannot recommend Cedars highly enough. Management work very hard at making sure the room teams are strong and offer a range of skills and personality types. Bonding and attachment with key workers is very strong and communication with parents is excellent. Staff are, without, fail cheerful and communicative
and also knowledgeable about their practice and the children in their care. Children's independence is fostered through all daily activities and they take part in an impressive range of activities, including using external partners to deliver dance and music and physical education. Rooms are always busy and purposeful; the garden space is well used and children go outside in all weathers. As a parent, I feel part of a Cedars community and both of my children have benefitted hugely from their time there.

Our son is very happy at Cedars. The staff are enthusiastic and warm, friendly and approachable. We receive regular updates on our little boy's progress through an app and verbally on his day when we collect him. The nursery arranges weekly themes to aid children's learning, combined with thoughtful
activities.

Our son was born with a chronic illness so we were naturally worried about enrolling him into nursery but the staff at Cedars instantly put us at ease during our first visit. Since he joined we've seen him grow into a smart, friendly and loving little boy.
The staff are warm and welcoming and they
make it such a pleasant place for everyone. Their desire to know about his condition demonstrates the kind nature of the staff and their enthusiasm to provide the best possible care for him. They were fantastic at integrating him with the other children without making his complexities obvious. This is all done without compromising his safety. They take the time to understand each child, and it shows by the way they interact with them.
The staff are informative and great at communicating their day in great detail, plus the ‘Friday focus’ e-alert is fab at outlining the forthcoming plans. The daily activities keep my son stimulated and the nursery environment is intriguing and informative.

My 8-month-old baby has settled in at nursery so quickly and easily thanks to the staff.
He gets lots of cuddles and attention and seems to love going. The weekly newsletter really helps to understand more about his experiences at nursery.
His keyworker and several other staff really seem to care
about his well-being and have been kind and sensible when he has been unwell.
We couldn't be happier with the nursery so far.

I realised today is our son's one year anniversary of being at Cedars nursery and we have been so pleased with the nursery and I know he has a fab time every day and loves being there.

Since he joined when he was only 8 months old in January 2016, he has learnt to crawl then walk, talk and eat "all"

of everything. He has created strong bonds with the staff and his development continues to amaze us. I am sure being in the nursery environment has helped him to develop so fast.

Special thank you to his key workers who have all been amazing and supportive in his transition between rooms and to the fantastic chef for all of the delicious food she cooks, the recipes she has shared and for making my son a birthday cake!

All of the staff are friendly and engaging and we've never once felt uncomfortable leaving my son in their care.

We look forward to sending the next bundle of joy along to you in 2018!

My daughter has been at Cedars for 3 years now and leaves for school at the end of August. During this time she has grown so much in confidence. The staff are fantastic, caring, fun and kind.
My daughter was very shy when she first started there and the team helped greatly in settling her in and alleviated
any worries I had. She has learnt so much, help cut down fruit from trees, been to the zoo, examined various fish from the fishmongers, played and played and played, learnt phonics, made friends and above all felt safe.
She has had fantastic exposure to so many wonderful things through play which we feel is so important. The menu is great and she always has seconds. The management team is run very well and always welcoming at the start and end of the day.
Cannot recommend Cedars highly enough.

My daughter is leaving Cedars Day Nursery to go to a pre school as part of the school she will hopefully go to next year. She has been there for 2.5 years and loved every minute of it. I have always felt completely happy that she is safe and secure there which is my main need. The staff have always
been friendly, welcoming, happy, informative at every stage and I would absolutely recommend you to anyone. My son is 8 months old and now with you there, he seems just as happy!

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.935) out of 10 for Cedars Day Nursery (Leighton Buzzard) is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 23 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.935 for Cedars Day Nursery (Leighton Buzzard) is calculated as follows: ( (259 Excellents x 5) + (16 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 276 Ratings = 4.935
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Cedars Day Nursery (Leighton Buzzard) is based on 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 99 number of registered child places is 19.8, which has been reached with 23 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
