Cedars Day Nursery is situated in Leighton Buzzard, close to the train station, and offers parents a fully inclusive service all-year-round. They have also obtained their Green Flag Eco-Schools award.

The nursery ensures that outdoor play is an important part of each child’s learning. Access to a large natural garden creates opportunities for all age groups of children to develop social, emotional and physical skills.

The children plant, harvest and taste a range of vegetables in their own vegetable plot.

The nursery focuses on parent partnership - once a month arrangements are made, such as stay and play or parent workshops.

Cedars also offer the extracurricular activity of Hart beeps every Monday morning from 9am across all rooms.

Long-standing, highly trained practitioners help support children's learning through a range of activities designed in line with EYFS principles.

Friendly, warm staff who my child clearly feels very comfortable with, even though she only attends 1 1/2 days. The only thing I would suggest is if nursery feedback can be more updated i.e. my previous nursery sent an email update every day. My sisters son's nursery often send pictures of things he
has done, like when he stood for the first time and email them across to the parents immediately so the parent can enjoy the moment even if they are at work.

Both my children, a son now 5 and a daughter 3 have attended Cedars and have enjoyed a wonderful experience. The staff are wonderful and from the minute you walk in the door, you get the feeling of being part of a bigger family. As a parent, you feel happy in the knowledge that your children are being
looked after and cared for to an excellent standard. Both children came home happy everyday and I would recommend this nursery if you want your child to have a fun day every day. Thank you to the team who provide excellent experiences for the children.

I chose Cedars because I was very impressed with the Manager who gave me a huge amount of confidence that the nursery was well run; my son would receive personal and affectionate care and that I could easily communicate my views with the nursery. My confidence was not misplaced; the nursery is all of
those things and more. My son adores his key worker (something that warms my heart) but all the ladies in the room assist in the care of my son and he easily and happily goes to them for cuddles and play. The nursery cares for my son in a seemingly loving and gentle fashion. The outdoor space is fab. The nursery holds various events which I love attending and are a nice opportunity to spend time with my son in the nursery setting. The Friday newsletter is a welcome addition and when I have raised a couple of matters for discussion the nursery has been quick to respond. A fabulous nursery with some very lovely ladies who do a fabulous job of caring for my son. Very happy.

Fantastic nusery, my son attended 3 days a week from 11 weeks to 10 months old. All staff were excellent with him, my son has a milk allergy and they were very supportive and helpful with this. Could not fault anything, my son will hopefully be returning after the summer.

My son has just left Cedars after almost 3 years and it has been amazing. The staff are really caring and kind. They cater to individual differences and every day is varied with different activities and focus depending on age group. They spend a lot of time outdoors which I loved. The gardens are a
good size with lots of activities to chose from, couldn't recommend more highly. Thank you!

Cedars was a very friendly and supportive environment not just for he children but for the nervous parents dropping their children off for the first time. The staff ensure the children can learn as they play and have plenty of space, toys and various activities.

Cedars is a great learning environment where the children have lots of fun. Our children both love coming to their nursery and their development has come on a lot. The key workers are lovely and very helpful to the children. We would highly recommend this nursery.

I am so pleased with the nursery, my sons key workers and the other staff in the baby room clearly know him and loves him and fulfill all his needs when he is in their care. The environment and resources they provide are stimulating and there are a wide range of interesting activities for him to take
part in and be challenged and supported in. My son is very happy and his confidence has grown in leaps and bounds.

My son is currently in the Caterpillar room but will shortly be moving up into the next room. The team in the Caterpillar room are amazing, my son loves being at nursery and I feel confident leaving him there. The activities they do with the children are great and my son is learning new things everyday
which they capture in his journey log so I don't feel I am missing some of those "special moments" everyone at Cedars Day Nursery is friendly and approachable. They put on events such as a first aid course for parents and send out a weekly newsletter to keep you updated.

My little girl has been in Caterpillars for 4 months and loves it. She settled in instantly because of the brilliant team and her keyworker. She is about to change to Laybirds and I am confident that her transition will run smoothly because of how much they have helped her grow.

Cedars has helped to greatly increase our son's confidence since he has started, in only two months. He interacts more confidently with other children now and he loves his key worker at the nursery. His eating has also improved since starting Cedars as has his mobility.

My child has had the same key worker for a couple of years now. She has looked after her in a professional way. My daughter has taken to her fantastically. Moving the next stage is good for her but I am sure that she will miss her. The key worker has been there for us whenever we had any questions and
has been very supportive. Overall we are very happy and long may it continue.

The review was very sweet, enjoyed learning what our grandson does each nursery visit. His folder with the photos was very enjoyable. The nursery is great and staff helpful and obliging. Even though the nursery nurse was running late at no time did she make us feel rushed or moved on.

My daughter is 15 months old and full time at Cedars. She started when she was 10 months and has loved the nursery from the start. The staff are great with her, really make an effort to fit things around her home routine and she has blossomed in their care. We have every intention of her remaining full
time in Cedars until she goes to school.

My 4 year old left Cedars in the September ready to start school having been there since he was 11 months old. I have never had a bad word to say in all that time. My youngest son then started in Caterpillars and i have again been reminded what a fantastic nursery this is. I have been amazed at how
quickly he has settled and the bond he already shares with his key person is lovely to see. Delicious food, naps when he want to, so much space, wonderful activities and so much variety, Cedars is again the only place I would recommend.

At its most simple, our experience is defined by how comfortable we feel leaving our most loved little being in the hands of other people responsible for his wellbeing and development. Our experience has been of the highest order. My son has loved his time at Cedars and we as parents have felt 110%
comfortable leaving him every morning knowing he is having a great time and being looked after. Congratulations to your team on this amazing achievement. We are tough critics I promise! A special thanks must go to the chef for helping with his special diet and the key workers and staff for their care, love and support. We will miss you and my son will miss you to.

My daughter attended Cedars Day Nursery between the ages of 8 months & 3 years. I have found the care outstanding from all members of staff. They really focus on building relationships with the children & my daughter has had a great relationship with all of her key workers. My daughter had some health
issues during her time at nursery and the staff were very helpful & could not do enough to help us & my daughter, providing her the one on one care she needed at the time. Over the last couple of years our daughter has developed very well during her time at Cedars nursery & she will miss it!

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.935) out of 10 for Cedars Day Nursery (Leighton Buzzard) is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 23 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.935 for Cedars Day Nursery (Leighton Buzzard) is calculated as follows: ( (259 Excellents x 5) + (16 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 276 Ratings = 4.935
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Cedars Day Nursery (Leighton Buzzard) is based on 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 99 number of registered child places is 19.8, which has been reached with 23 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
