Cedars Day Nursery is situated in Leighton Buzzard, close to the train station, and offers parents a fully inclusive service all-year-round. They have also obtained their Green Flag Eco-Schools award.

The nursery ensures that outdoor play is an important part of each child’s learning. Access to a large natural garden creates opportunities for all age groups of children to develop social, emotional and physical skills.

The children plant, harvest and taste a range of vegetables in their own vegetable plot.

The nursery focuses on parent partnership - once a month arrangements are made, such as stay and play or parent workshops.

Cedars also offer the extracurricular activity of Hart beeps every Monday morning from 9am across all rooms.

Long-standing, highly trained practitioners help support children's learning through a range of activities designed in line with EYFS principles.

The team are very professional and caring. Our son loves his time at nursery. He is developing so nicely under the Cedars care. The facilities and outdoor space is great and so is the communication from the nursery.

From the moment I walked through the doors, I was impressed by the bright, clean, and welcoming environment. The classrooms are spacious, filled with natural light, and equipped with a variety of educational toys and resources that keep the children engaged and stimulated. What truly sets this nursery
apart, however, is the staff. Every member of the team is warm, attentive, and genuinely cares about the well-being and development of the children. They go above and beyond to create a nurturing and safe environment where each child feels valued and understood. The teachers are highly skilled and bring a wealth of knowledge and creativity to their teaching methods. They communicate effectively with parents, providing regular updates and feedback about our child's progress. Our child has flourished since starting at Cedars, developing new skills and forming strong bonds with both peers and teachers.

From day one we were impressed by the welcoming atmosphere. They take the time to get to know each child individually, which has helped our little ones settle in quickly. The nursery environment is vibrant and stimulating, with bright, spacious rooms and a wonderful outdoor area. There's a great balance
of structured activities and free play, ensuring that children are always engaged and learning in a fun, interactive way. The curriculum is well-rounded, with a mix of educational and creative activities that cater to all aspects of early childhood development. Communication with parents is excellent. We receive regular updates on their progress, along with photos and descriptions of their daily activities. This has given us peace of mind, knowing how they're progressing. Overall, Cedars has exceeded our expectations in every way. Our child is happy, confident and thriving thanks to the nurturing and supportive environment provided by the fantastic team.

We couldn't be happier with our choice of nursery for our daughter. When she started she had just turned one and all of the staff went above and beyond to make the transition as smooth as possible for her and to help her to settle in. Our daughter absolutely loves her days at Cedars, she quite literally
squeals with excitement as she gets out of the car in the mornings! The activities the staff prepare for the children vary each day and are engaging and fun for them - our daughter learns so much. Everyone is so welcoming, kind, and friendly.

My little joined Cedars Nursery at the beginning of the year. From first introductions to settling in sessions the nursery has been fantastic at communicating with me and putting my family at ease. The staff are always welcoming and happy, greeting my little by name. In the Caterpillar room my little
is thriving and has clearly bonded with all the lovely staff, a special mention to his key worker who he really has taken a shine to, thank you! The staff keep us updated with pictures of what our littles have been up to and the activities are varied and interesting; sensory music classes; painting; messy play, to name a few. I also feel confident my little is getting lots of super tasty, nutritious food from the wonderful cooks. I am really happy with our choice of nursery and can see a jump in my little's progression since his time there. Would recommend highly!

My son has now been at Cedars for just under 2 years and I have to say the nursey, team and management are absolutely phenomenal.
He started in Ladybirds and has now been in Bumblebees for just under a year and I cannot fault them at all. I would love to name individual people in the Bumblebees class
however they are all fantastic, genuine and caring so I am nervous I leave one out. My son spends most of the day outside and is allowed to do what he enjoys and is encouraged to just be himself (currently he likes digging up worms).
He learns so much and has so much fun at the same time along with forming friends.
I cannot recommend Cedars enough. I could go on and on... however, I am sure you get the point I am making... if you reading this you are probably trying to find a nursery for your little one. Look no further as you have found it!

Cedars has been fantastic for both my children. They do such fun activities, eat better than I do, and the staff are so caring. My daughter comes back home full of excitement about playing in the garden, reading books, doing Hartbeeps, the artwork she's made, the phonics she's learnt and more. They've
really helped my son with his walking, doing lots of messy play with him and reading a particular character book 20 times in a row because he loves it so much! The staff really care and they're part of our support village as we raise our family.

We have been very impressed with Cedars, our daughter loves going there and we have always felt she is really well looked after. She especially enjoys Hartbeeps and all the other opportunities for music, dancing and playing outside. The staff have all been fantastic and are especially good at keeping
us informed and involved. Overall we are very happy with Cedars.

Every staff member has a genuine smile on their face, regardless of time of day, what type of day they have had or even in the middle of a challenge. They spend the time to actively listen and provide the level of feedback you need. Welcome you by name and always know who your child is. They feel like
an extension to our family. The genuine love and care shown to my child by the Cedars Day Nursery team is phenomenal. That assurance has made the mental load of leaving my child so much more manageable than it had been in other child care settings. Most importantly you know and feel that the children are at the heart and centre of everything they do.

We have such fond memories (and good friends) from our first child’s time at Cedars. When selecting a nursery for our second child, Cedars was of course our first choice. Even after a seven year gap the nursery has not disappointed. The staff are still so kind, caring and well trained. My daughter has
settled in so well and is enjoying exploring the 4 different areas for babies. The activities are brilliant - well above and beyond anything I could keep up with at home and they’ve already got my 10 month old stuck in with painting. Well done to everyone at Cedars, keep up the fantastic work.

My child started in September, and I've been so impressed. The staff are friendly, full of energy and clearly love what they do. I'm confident my child has the best care; she comes home happy and chatty about her day. The planned activities stretch her, and her understanding of the world, confidence
and vocabulary have ballooned in recent weeks. Would recommend it to anyone.

My daughter has been at Cedars Day Nursery for about 3 years now, I also had a son that went here was he was younger, and I cannot fault the nursery.
The facilities are amazing and the staff are incredible.
My daughter has great relationships with all the staff that she comes into contact with and
always feels happy here.
Considering she was a Covid baby and so was limited in some of her initial social interactions, she has thrived at Cedars.
I highly recommend the nursery and will be very sad when she leaves this setting for school next year.

Cedars is a wonderful nursery. Everyone is so kind, and really feels like a warm hug the moment you enter. They do lots of different fun and creative activities for the children every day! They really care and are very well looked after. My son first attended this nursery back in 2017, and now my daughter
is currently there. Both of my children have excelled and my daughter is extremely happy at this setting. Every room is just amazing, especially the preschool room where they really provide great preparation for school. The staff are nothing short of incredible! My son still talks about his time there to this day and my daughter loves going there and is really thriving. I can't thank the staff enough for making their time at nursery so fun and enjoyable. It’s such a good feeling to leave your children in a friendly and safe environment, knowing they are well looked after. I cannot recommend this nursery enough.

Overall, we’ve been very pleased with Cedars Day Nursery and both our children enjoyed attending. There are lots of great activities for the children to do. The number of posts on the app has reduced with our second child and so we don’t always know how his day has been.
Reply from April Hughes, Manager at Cedars Day Nursery (Leighton Buzzard)Thank you for your kind comments – a source of pride to us all - about your children’s time at Cedars. With regard to communication, the number of posts on the app follows Early Years Foundation Stage revisions which focus on reducing ‘paperwork’ to heighten the quality of the activity underway and the interaction between practitioner and child. ‘Snapshot’ observations are supplemented with ‘monthly learning story’ and ‘age and stage’ developmental assessments. This is in addition to updates at the end of sessions and regular parent newsletters detailing activities in each room and the resources and events freely available to parents through the app.
Thank you again for your kind comments and for taking the time to review our nursery.

We have our two children staying at the nursery: ladybird and caterpillar. Over the last two years, we have been extremely pleased with the care they have received. As a working parent, receiving updates of all the fun activities they have been doing, food, naps and nappies is invaluable.
The management
have been great at communicating through the Covid period too.
I highly recommend Cedars Day Nursery.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.924) out of 10 for Cedars Day Nursery (Leighton Buzzard) is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 24 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 24 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.924 for Cedars Day Nursery (Leighton Buzzard) is calculated as follows: ( (269 Excellents x 5) + (17 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 288 Ratings = 4.924
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Cedars Day Nursery (Leighton Buzzard) is based on 24 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 99 number of registered child places is 19.8, which has been reached with 24 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
