Bright Horizons Shortlands Day Nursery and Preschool (Formerly Shortlands Little Stars)

Shortlands day nursery is a beautiful converted church which boasts some of the original features, high ceilings and generous space in the rooms. The nursery has four rooms which include a baby, toddler, nursery class and Preschool room and they are lucky to have separate gardens for the under twos and over twos. They are a two minute walk from Shortlands station which has excellent links into London and a short drive into the centre of Bromley.

The nursery offers a high standard of childcare and education and provides a happy and secure atmosphere for children aged three months to five years.

An enthusiastic team of professional staff are dedicated to providing the children with the very best opportunities and are committed to the development of each child.

The children also benefit from bespoke Growing Programmes including: Growing Readers, Writers and Mathematicians. Healthy meals and snacks are prepared on-site by the talented chef.

My little one loves coming in here. I like that they are very clean. She learnt more than I expected from this nursery.
Staff are very friendly and polite even with the little ones. I would definitely recommend this place to any parent.

My little boy loves this nursery, and he is really doing well, learning at a v fast pace and enjoying all the activities. I was impressed from our first visit with the cleanliness, and the professional and really lovely caring staff. The children are always playing happily, and there are lots of creative
things they can do, plus a great garden when it is good weather. He also always loves the food!

My daughter is thriving and flourishing at this nursery. Her development has improved massively. She enjoys nursery and looks forward to it on most days. The staff are caring and truly excellent with the kids.

I feel like my child's room is a warm and inviting environment. The staff are very caring and passionate about the children. They are also very reassuring. My child always comes away from nursery happy with a new thing she has done each day. The nursery, in general, is a calm, happy and safe environment,
which makes me very reassured that my child will be happy in my absence.

I'm so happy to know I can leave my daughter in 2-3's knowing she is well and truly looked after. My daughter is always asking if she can go to nursery even on days she does not go and weekends. All staff in the 2-3's and around the other rooms show so much care and concern for the children and always
make us feel welcome.
There's always lots of activities going on all through the day and I really enjoy bringing home my daughters work.
I also enjoy that my daughter goes outside every day in all weathers and on small trips when they can :)

My daughter joined the nursery a few months ago and I have nothing but praise for the staff. They are very accommodating to my needs, and as a particularly worried parent they put my mind at ease whilst I'm at work. The activities she participates in are great as we do not have the space at home. The
updates I receive at the end of the day are very useful too as we can see what and how much she's eaten and slept that day. If you are looking for a place for your child that is flexible, caring, considerate and professional then this is the nursery for you.

The staff at Shortlands have been fantastic in welcoming our daughter to nursery. She took a little time to settle in, but with their patience and kindness she is now thriving and thoroughly enjoys her days there. The carers have also shown great awareness of the needs of us as parents, understanding
and supporting us as we get to grips with nursery life.

Both my girls went to this nursery. Although my standards were quite high coming from NZ it was the only nursery that could accommodate both my girls. After not expecting too much I have been really impressed with them and the staff. The turnover is very low and the environment is excellent compared
to others I looked at. One of my daughters took a while to settle but the staff always gave her reassuring cuddles. Both girls were happy and well fed. They did loads of creative activities.

Helen

Helen

Job Title: Nursery Manager

Helen has been working with Bright Horizons for over 15 years, starting as a Nursery Nurse in Shortlands and progressing to Deputy Manager. In 2016, she moved to Caterham to gain experience in a larger nursery before returning to Shortlands as Nursery Manager in January 2018.


Holding a degree in Early Childhood Studies, she has gained valuable insight into child development. Her experience includes working in a nursery in Australia and she continues to refresh her knowledge and expertise in early years education.


Her passion has always been to guide each child in reaching their full potential. She feels privileged to make a meaningful impact on children's lives during this crucial stage of development.

Jodi

Jodi

Job Title: Deputy Manager

Jodi has been working in the childcare field for over 18 years, with eleven of those years at Bright Horizons Shortlands. She began as an apprentice and worked her way up to Room Leader, Third in Charge and was promoted to Deputy Manager in 2018.


She feels incredibly fortunate in her role, as it allows her to support the development of children, the team, and the learning environments. She especially enjoys watching children grow and progress through each room until they graduate to their reception classes at school.

Job Title: Chef

At the very heart of Shortlands Day Nursery is our two wonderful chefs, Jennes and Sam.


They have over 50 years kitchen experience combined. Together Jennes and Sam have continuously achieved 5 stars EHO inspections and have provided the children with delicious, nutritious meals. They have also supported the children with growing our own produce to cook and have facilitated creative cook sessions.


Jennes favourite meal to cook is different pasta dishes and at home is fried chicken and rice. Sam's favourite meal to cook are a roast dinner and chicken curry.
