Brinds Well Day Nursery in Orpington provides children with a warm and welcoming learning environment where highly trained practitioners promote child-led interests and play.

The fantastic, fully equipped, large garden area offers children a range of outdoor learning experiences and is used in all weathers and seasons. This helps to support children's social, emotional and physical development.

For extra-curricular activities, they currently offer Pro-stars every Wednesday for preschool children. Additionally, every Friday, Caterpillars, Ladybirds, and Bumblebees enjoy Mandarin singing sessions, led by a dedicated music teacher. He customises each session to align with the children’s current interests.

They are located close to the train station, open 7.30-6.30 and are fully-inclusive offering a convenient service to parents.

My daughter has come on leaps and bounds attending this nursery, especially with turn taking. I feel like my daughter's needs are met helping her to progress. If you have any problems the receptionists are very helpful and try to assist you any way they can. I like receiving the weekly newsletter
update so I know what my daughter has been doing that week at nursery. I like that each classroom has their own outdoor space compared to some nurseries that have to share their outdoor space and have allotted times to use it. All food, nappies and sun cream is supplied at the nursery, which makes it easier for me each morning not to try and remember to pack and get these things ready.

I have been very happy with the care provided for my children at Brinsdwell Nursery. I have 2 children who have graduated from the nursery and 1 who is currently still attending. The staff are attentive, friendly and approachable, always making sure they have time to talk to the parents each day. I
have seen my children grow and develop throughout their time the nursery and know that they enjoy their time there.

My little boy has gained so much confidant and independence some of which has been because of attending brindswell.
He is always happy and cared for.

Both my daughters have attended this nursery since they were babies and both have thrived here. After 7 years it was very sad to say goodbye to this place. My daughters have both learnt so much and have loved the staff here, who do an amazing job. My youngest had some of the same staff from when my
eldest was here too which shows that the staff love the place as much as the children. All the rooms are perfectly set up for each age group with free flowing gardens which are amazing, the food is healthy but tasty as both my girls loved eating everything here and they were always busy with activities when I came to pick them up. They both came out of this nursery happy, confident and more than ready for school.

My daughter started at Brinds Well over two years ago, then full-time preschool last Summer.
She is happy to be left in the mornings and frequently reluctant to leave in the evening. The breakfast cereals and fruit provide a healthy start.
There's variety in the spaces in pre-school - the library
seems to works well for storytime as well as song-and-dance.
Our daughter has made amazing progress with handiwork (drawing/painting/making) as well as numbers/counting and most recently with letters and starting to write her name. It's great to be able to discuss progress with carers at the end of each day. The social aspect is great preparation for the transition to school and large numbers of children.
The nursery is in the hills away from main roads. Even in snow and ice, the management team and committed staff have done an amazing job to open the nursery and keep open while safe. Some walked miles to do so.
Ladies on the front desk are brilliant, they keep things running smoothly.

Our daughter has been with the nursery since she was 12 months old, she is now approaching 24 months.
Our daughter is extremely happy and looks forward to going to "school".
The staff there are very helpful, supportive and friendly.
Our daughter loves the variation of the food and often has second
helpings of lunch and dinner.
We are so pleased with the progress that she is making and how happy she is that we are increasing her days there, not because we need to, but purely because she enjoys herself so much.
I cannot recommend this nursery highly enough.

Brinds Well is an excellent nursery with fantastic facilities. The staff always give my little one a warm welcome and encourage her to get involved with activities on offer. The recent improvements outdoors have created a lovely space to explore. The food goes down better than anything I make at home!
My daughter has made lovely friends here and always enjoys her day. The management are accessible and happy to work with us should anything arise.

The nursery is very well located, outside of the city so plenty of fresh air, very spacious, and not far from the station.
The staff are all very friendly and caring. They respect the individuality of every child. They'd work with the parents to personalise their care plan for every child. Our little
one has eczema. The staff helped us to identify the objects that are not kind to her skin and make sure they are replaced by things we brought from home.
The staff are also very well educated in child development. They are almost always one step ahead of us in helping our little ones to learn the right skill at the right time.

The premises at Brinds Well is set on a lovely rural road and the building is new, bright and clean. The rooms are big, roomy and packed with colour and toys.


Everything is included in the daily rate: food, nappies, wipes, suncream etc. I appreciate the opening hours (7.30am-6.30pm) which is important

as a family with two working parents.


My two children have loved their time there; they have been attending since they were 10 months old, my eldest will be attending school this year. The staff are friendly and seem to genuinely care for the children. All the staff, including the cooks, know my children's names. Often my children will run into the room in the morning and into the arms of one of the staff. The nursery manager always takes time to chat to my children when they pop into her office to visit her.


I am so pleased with Brinds Well; my children have grown into bright, happy little people, I'm sure this can partly attributed to the care received at the nursery.

Christmas craft session in Bumblebee 1 - The room leader organised a wonderful craft session for the kids that parents could come along too. It was really thoughtfully organised with lots of activities, perfect for little hands. It was really lovely to be invited to join in and spend time with my daughter.
We had great fun with paint, glitter, reindeer food and yummy biscuits.

It's very hard to fault Brinds Well. Our son has been attending for the last year and during that time has progressed through three rooms. His development during this period has been fantastic and we can directly attribute a great deal of this to the work done by the talented staff, especially with
his speech. Food and nutrition is excellent and the menu makes us want to step up our home cooking to match the quality! All round highly recommended.

Vanessa Watkins

Job Title: Nursery Manager Joined: 2013

Vanessa is the Manager of Brinds Well Day Nursery and has a wealth of experience, having worked in the early years sector for 11 years.


She has numerous qualifications, including Level 2 and 3 in Childcare, Leadership Level 5 Leadership for Children and Young People’s Workforce and First Aid training.


Vanessa is also the designated safeguarding lead for the nursery and is fully trained in Level 2 Makaton signing.


She has worked for Childbase Partnership for 8 years.


What is your favourite feature of your nursery?
The outdoor space; we are very lucky that each room has its own garden and outdoor area. Each garden is unique and really supports children's learning experiences.


Outdoor learning is shown to inspire our children and help them connect with nature. We are lucky with our surroundings, it is very calm and quiet and we hear lots of different birds tweeting throughout the day.


What are you most proud of about your nursery/team?
The passion, commitment and knowledge they give on a daily basis. They give 110% all day, every day and the care they provide to their children and families is outstanding. Every child is unique but the key person will know each individual child fully. They will support their development and well-being through their amazing relationships. During COVID this did not stop, with the home learning we gave to our families from daily videos of our practitioners reading a story to singing and phonic lessons. Practitioners sent activity ideas to support the families at home, whilst my chef was doing cooking lessons once a week with the children virtually. The care, love and support do not stop here at Brinds Well.
