Brinds Well Day Nursery in Orpington provides children with a warm and welcoming learning environment where highly trained practitioners promote child-led interests and play.

The fantastic, fully equipped, large garden area offers children a range of outdoor learning experiences and is used in all weathers and seasons. This helps to support children's social, emotional and physical development.

For extra-curricular activities, they currently offer Pro-stars every Wednesday for preschool children. Additionally, every Friday, Caterpillars, Ladybirds, and Bumblebees enjoy Mandarin singing sessions, led by a dedicated music teacher. He customises each session to align with the children’s current interests.

They are located close to the train station, open 7.30-6.30 and are fully-inclusive offering a convenient service to parents.

I think the nursery is great and always has the child's care at the forefront of what they do. The staff are excellent that I have worked with, and have become an integral part of my child's upbringing, always keeping me informed and doing their best to help my child develop.
My only slight criticism
is that sometimes morning drop-offs are hectic within certain rooms and breakfast is not always out. When it is the breakfast table, it is not always big enough for everyone, and the child will sometimes feel isolated as they cannot sit down, making the drop off sometimes longer than needed.

Very happy with the Nursery. Both my daughters have attended/are attending and the staff clearly care about them. The facilities are good. There are some aspects that could be improved such as feedback to patents but overall I am extremely happy with the Nursery and how much girls are looked after.

As a parent, you are always happy if your child is happy but it goes further than that. A lot of care goes into ensuring that nursery standards are met, but a lot of effort goes into going that "extra mile".


The communication between staff and parents is crucial and we always feel that we've spent

a day at the nursery along with our son. We not only get a daily verbal report but via the use of the app, we can monitor his progress and development and the weekly newsletter provides an overview of the nursery's weekly activities.


The facilities are exemplary, but it's the staff along with the facilities that make this nursery stand out from the others. Every day our son partakes in different activities, and two days are never the same. Along with supportive and caring staff, it means that our son has not just grown academically but is learning independence and confidence which really shines through when he's away from the nursery environment.


I couldn't recommend the nursery enough.

Brinds Well is an excellent nursery with fantastic staff and facilities. My daughter aged 18 months gets excited getting out of the car every morning. Both Caterpillar and Ladybird rooms have been fabulous.
I have recently been disappointed with the communication from the nursery. My ParentZone app
has been updated twice in over 2 months and I sent an email with a few concerns on which the lady on the front desk immediately replied to saying she would forward onto management but I didn't ever hear from them. Even an acknowledgement email would have been nice.
The ladies on the front desk are fabulous and are extremely helpful with any queries.
The Care from the girls in the rooms is outstanding.
Some sort of parents evening every 6 months might be an idea and also maybe a PTA so the parents can organise events to raise money for the nursery.

We are very happy with Brindswell. We have a son in the preschool and a daughter is in ladybirds. They are both very happy in their classes. My son has attended since 10 months old and he has developed so well in their care. He is learning a great deal in preschool, his letters, numbers and general
knowledge are constantly developing and it's clear they incorporate lots of learning whilst playing throughout the day.


The online journal is excellent and I enjoy reading the reports, they go into great detail compared to some I've seen from other nurseries and really highlight the personalities of my children. I know the staff in both rooms really understand my children and know them well so when they aren't quite themselves it will usually be fed back to me or a phone call will be made so I am reassured they are in safe hands throughout the day.


All the staff are lovely, right down to the catering staff who know the children's names and interact with them when approached.

Both of my children have attended Brinds Well since 1-year-old. The staff, in my opinion, are highly trained and provide all the care and attention needed to look after children in such a positive way. They feel cared for, they are happy and both have run through the doors to get to their room!

I have only fantastic things to say. The nursery is excellent and the staff are superb, my son absolutely loves going every day he is there.
Every member of staff knows his name and he has bonded so well with the teachers in his room. He has grown up so much and his development has really excelled
since he started.
Any issues he has had have been dealt with quickly and the help and support that have been provided by the staff is incredible.
I feel very confident and happy every day when I drop him off and I am greeted by a very happy little boy when I pick him up.

My son has received excellent care at Brinds Well since 2014 and has progressed from Caterpillars through the various rooms to pre school. He has flourished in the pre school room and loves coming each day. I feel the staff provide a very high level of care and as a result, I can go to work and not
worry because I know he is in good hands. The staff take a real interest in the children's development. It is great to have a male member of staff in pre-school. When there have been any issues they have been dealt with very promptly. I would not hesitate to recommend Brinds Well.


My son enjoys a variety of good and varied meals. I would like to see less tinned fruit and more fresh fruit wherever possible.

Brinds Well is a lovely nursery where my son goes to 3 days per week. The staff are working really hard to make sure that children are not only well looked after but also are stimulated and engaged during the day.
Therefore, my son comes home totally exhausted but I am very glad to see that he is
learning new things as well.
The nursery has lovely facilities, with each room having their own garden. The only concern I have is that it is becoming very popular and very busy place, some days it is starting to look a bit chaotic just because of the number of children.

I have three children that have, or do, attend Brinds Well Day Nursery. My eldest is now at school but still enjoys some time there when we pick up the youngest who actually looks forward to going to nursery. The staff that do, and have, looked after my children have all been great, really friendly
and caring. The receptionist is always friendly and extremely helpful and the cook has gone out of her way to be helpful with the children.

I have had both my children in Brinds Well nursery and I've never had an issue with anything. My son who is now at school still asks can he go back as he loved it. The nursery is very clean and all the staff are very friendly. I would definitely recommend this nursery to friends.

I have two children at this nursery. I've always found the staff go above and beyond what is expected in order to look after the children. The nursery is proactive in teaching the children by using fun games and their menus are varied and nutritious. I couldn't ask for more from a nursery.

Our two kids (16 months and almost 3 years old) love this nursery. Both started in the baby room at approx 1 year old and have been really happy since then. They never want to go home. I really like the activities for both my kids, the variety of things they get to do include messy play (great that
it's not at my house!). Great space both indoor and outside, lots of space and light, good food and staff have been very accommodating to or special requests. The staff are always very kind to the kids and help them settle in the nursery and every time they move rooms.

I love the parking drop off facility. The premises is always clean and tidy. The staff are always helpful and happy and the food is great for the kids. The Ladybirds section of the nursery where my son goes could benefit a bit by getting more involved with the kids, strangely my son still cries upon
drop off and collection which is sad but possibly normal, though if it continues for much longer we may consider taking him to another nursery. We have heard only good things about Brinds Well otherwise and commend all the staff for what is also a challenging task with so many kids.

My son goes to Brinds Well (all 5 days) and my daughter used to go here as well few years back. The nursery has a positive impact on my Son and the staff/keyworker at Caterpillar are amazing and he is a happy boy. My Son has acute food allergies and the whole process of settling-in was so thorough
and professionally handled. The nursery manager arranged few sessions with the Chef, so his diet can be catered, which impressed us a lot. I feel they went above and beyond to assure me that they do a great job! and they all love the kids. Most important thing for me is, I feel he is cared for with affection in a safe, secure and happy environment !

My son is in the Bumblebees room full time and I am very happy with the care he receives. He is much loved by his key worker and the staff in his room. He loves being at school and enjoys all the activities and the outdoor play activities. He is well supported with his vision and speech difficulties
and I meet regularly with the team for an update on his progress.

Vanessa Watkins

Job Title: Nursery Manager Joined: 2013

Vanessa is the Manager of Brinds Well Day Nursery and has a wealth of experience, having worked in the early years sector for 11 years.


She has numerous qualifications, including Level 2 and 3 in Childcare, Leadership Level 5 Leadership for Children and Young People’s Workforce and First Aid training.


Vanessa is also the designated safeguarding lead for the nursery and is fully trained in Level 2 Makaton signing.


She has worked for Childbase Partnership for 8 years.


What is your favourite feature of your nursery?
The outdoor space; we are very lucky that each room has its own garden and outdoor area. Each garden is unique and really supports children's learning experiences.


Outdoor learning is shown to inspire our children and help them connect with nature. We are lucky with our surroundings, it is very calm and quiet and we hear lots of different birds tweeting throughout the day.


What are you most proud of about your nursery/team?
The passion, commitment and knowledge they give on a daily basis. They give 110% all day, every day and the care they provide to their children and families is outstanding. Every child is unique but the key person will know each individual child fully. They will support their development and well-being through their amazing relationships. During COVID this did not stop, with the home learning we gave to our families from daily videos of our practitioners reading a story to singing and phonic lessons. Practitioners sent activity ideas to support the families at home, whilst my chef was doing cooking lessons once a week with the children virtually. The care, love and support do not stop here at Brinds Well.
