Brinds Well Day Nursery in Orpington provides children with a warm and welcoming learning environment where highly trained practitioners promote child-led interests and play.

The fantastic, fully equipped, large garden area offers children a range of outdoor learning experiences and is used in all weathers and seasons. This helps to support children's social, emotional and physical development.

For extra-curricular activities, they currently offer Pro-stars every Wednesday for preschool children. Additionally, every Friday, Caterpillars, Ladybirds, and Bumblebees enjoy Mandarin singing sessions, led by a dedicated music teacher. He customises each session to align with the children’s current interests.

They are located close to the train station, open 7.30-6.30 and are fully-inclusive offering a convenient service to parents.

My son attends the nursery in the bumblebees room. We love it because he loves it. The staff are not only professional but incredibly helpful and caring. The room lead is excellent and my son's key worker is outstanding, he absolutely loves her.
They’ve got to know my son well and cater for his needs,
they know what he loves to play with and encourage him with this.
His development has progressed as expected but most importantly he is happy and able to be himself.

I’m really happy with this nursery. My daughter's learning has developed amazingly since starting. There is a huge variety of different activities that take place every day. The staff are very welcoming and supportive throughout.

Brilliant nursery, my son is well looked after and loves being at nursery. He has already grown in leaps and bounds since being there and I couldn't ask for nicer people to watch over him. Really looking forward to him progressing to the next room ladybirds. Amazing transitions between rooms as well.
He has learnt so much from the loving and caring staff and has really grown in confidence. Thank you Brinds Well, wouldn't have put my child anywhere else.

Both my children have attended the nursery and loved every minute. The staff are all so lovely and welcoming and make the children feel so comfortable!
The facilities are great, especially the outdoor areas and there is endless fun for the children inside too. I also like the way they keep the parents
updated regularly.
Cannot fault Brinds Well, I highly recommend.

My baby daughter has been with the nursery since she was six months old and the Caterpillars room is a wonderful environment for her, the staff know her really well and really engage with her. When I have had concerns regarding her development we have discussed them and decided together the best way
to deal with the issue. I know that my daughter is very happy going to nursery and this makes leaving her that much easier. The nursery is always very clean, tidy and welcoming and the support staff are very knowledgeable and helpful.

Staff in nursery is helpful and listen to any concern you may have. It has an excellent location, removed from town business and offers children nice outdoor space. Staff beautifully encourage to build nice friendships between peers, independence, caring for each other and create daily activities which

Like in every nursery you will find staff very committed and genuine and those who come to work ‘because they have to’. Luckily those committed are in far greater numbers here.
Reception is very efficient and helpful. Little things need improvement such as pegs and how clothes and bags are hanged
on them - it takes time to find your child’s belongings as they are never in place. I don’t know how often toys are checked/cleaned but some look old and not working. ParentZone app is good to see your child’s record and photos. Safeguarding is brilliant as my husband was stopped when collecting for the first time. Facilities outside really good. Inclusive nappies/toiletries is a bonus. Kitchen staff helps in everything, always cheerful. Also, don’t know how often toilets in preschool are checked but they are not perfect. My older son feels very happy going there and never looked back and mentioned his old nursery. Younger settled in and also enjoys activities. Parking facilities good.

The nursery has always been such a wonderfully nurturing environments for my children as well as every day their learning needs are being assessed and fun educational activities take place. My children have become genuinely attached to their key workers and made close friendships with children here
so love nursery days making it far easier for me to leave them confident they are happy.

My son has been visiting the nursery since October and I can say that the staff is very helpful and supportive. The Reception staff answered any queries very promptly.
The key worker of my son and the staff in the room keep me updated on a daily basis on his behaviour, development, food or any other
issues or progress. They are always there if you need to discuss something or if you or your child need extra support.
My son became even more independent as he began to visit the nursery. His speech has improved and I am glad to know he is starting to build up friendships.

I'm really happy with the care they provide at Brinds Well. Every key worker my children have had genuinely cares about their wellbeing and development. They are clearly overstretched sometimes (not enough staff!) but this is a testament to how popular they are.

A very good nursery, however, I feel there is too much training in generic responses they believe parents want to hear. A few times my wife and I have been told completely different things about our child.
The staff are very good with the kids, however, it's the end of the day handover and understanding
the information the parent wants even if its a brief piece of info. The handover sheet shows sleep and food eaten so would be good to know what items they played with and what they got up to or what the day plan from the nursery was i.e. soft play, water play etc..

My daughter was with Brinds Well from when she was 1 all the way through to leaving for school. The staff in the rooms made strong connections with her throughout her time, and the introduction of Parent Zone means I was able to get regular communications of her activities. The Reception staff were
brilliant and answered any queries extremely promptly. There is excellent outdoor space and facilities for the children to enjoy during the day in all rooms. The learning structure is also excellent, with the Pre-School room set up for easing the transition to Primary School. A very happy and caring environment - I wouldn't want to send my children anywhere else.

Both of my children have enjoyed their time here over the last 6 years. They have been very well looked after with an excellent exposure to play based, learning, craft and physical activities. The staff within the rooms have been excellent and formed a strong bond with both children during their time
at nursery. They have enjoyed a balanced diet with exposure to a variety of foods. The management and support staff have provided good communication and been very approachable.

Vanessa Watkins

Job Title: Nursery Manager Joined: 2013

Vanessa is the Manager of Brinds Well Day Nursery and has a wealth of experience, having worked in the early years sector for 11 years.


She has numerous qualifications, including Level 2 and 3 in Childcare, Leadership Level 5 Leadership for Children and Young People’s Workforce and First Aid training.


Vanessa is also the designated safeguarding lead for the nursery and is fully trained in Level 2 Makaton signing.


She has worked for Childbase Partnership for 8 years.


What is your favourite feature of your nursery?
The outdoor space; we are very lucky that each room has its own garden and outdoor area. Each garden is unique and really supports children's learning experiences.


Outdoor learning is shown to inspire our children and help them connect with nature. We are lucky with our surroundings, it is very calm and quiet and we hear lots of different birds tweeting throughout the day.


What are you most proud of about your nursery/team?
The passion, commitment and knowledge they give on a daily basis. They give 110% all day, every day and the care they provide to their children and families is outstanding. Every child is unique but the key person will know each individual child fully. They will support their development and well-being through their amazing relationships. During COVID this did not stop, with the home learning we gave to our families from daily videos of our practitioners reading a story to singing and phonic lessons. Practitioners sent activity ideas to support the families at home, whilst my chef was doing cooking lessons once a week with the children virtually. The care, love and support do not stop here at Brinds Well.
