Partou Turney Road Day Nursery Pre-School - rated Outstanding by Ofsted in February 2020 - has a well-earned reputation as one of the leading providers of childcare in the Dulwich area. The nursery offers outstanding care to children aged three months to five years and is open from 7.30am to 6.30pm Monday to Friday, for 50 weeks of the year (closed for two weeks over Christmas).

Conveniently located on the corner of Turney Road and Croxted Road, a short distance from Herne Hill and West Dulwich railway stations, the nursery enjoys bright and airy rooms and a wonderful garden.

There are separate rooms for the under twos and over twos, furnished with age-appropriate toys and resources, ensuring that the best possible standard of care, development and education is provided. The outside play area allows children to play and learn outdoors to further enhance their experience at the nursery.

The nursery operates a key person policy, ensuring that children are cared for by a member of staff who gets to know parents and their children really well.

Great emphasis is placed on creating a loving, nurturing and warm environment for children. Meals are included in fees and children receive nutritious lunches and teas every day.

Free childcare is available to eligible three- to five-year-olds, childcare vouchers are accepted and the nursery offers free settling in sessions for new children.

Our little boy loves the nursery since the beginning. He has attended Nelly's Nursery for over a year now.
He is happy being there and has developed a close relationship with staff and other kids. We are very happy with the care provided and feel he is in good hands when we leave him every morning.

We couldn't be happier after our son's first month at Nelly's Nursery. From day 1 of settling in, Nelly's has felt like a second home. The staff are so welcoming, gentle and loving (both to the babies and parents!) and have made us so comfortable in the knowledge that our son is getting the best care.
He is so happy at drop off and pick up and is developing so well and learning so much. The structure and routine is perfectly balanced and the activities and facilities are wonderful. We feel very lucky. Thank you Nelly's!

I’ve had both my boys attend this nursery. The staff are caring and kind. There are lots of educational and interesting activities for the kids to get involved with. It’s a nurturing environment and has a ‘family / homely’ feel to it.
Varied and healthy menus are provided as well as fruit snacks.
100% recommend this nursery.

We’ve been very happy with Nelly's for our two children. They’ve had wonderful key workers who the boys have grown very close to, helped with their development, and kept us updated a lot with their progress at pick-up and via Tapestry online. Hours of 7:30 to 6:30 are very helpful for us as both working

My eldest has been here for three years and my youngest since March 2018. Overall, we are very happy with the nursery; the staff are excellent, loving and caring and that nurturing approach continues from the baby room into the main room. The only point for improvement is the change in sickness policy
which happened last year so that children with raised temperatures are no longer given an hour after calpol to see if their temperature comes down - instead, as soon as a temperature is raised, you have to go and collect your child. This is much stricter than other nurseries in the area and can make life as a working parent much tougher, as it can mean you being called to collect even when your child is not really unwell.

My daughter recently joined as a two-year-old. The staff were really helpful with her settling in period. Now she looks forward to nursery and is happy on her way in. For me, that is a really positive sign. There is good feedback from the staff about activities. It’s a nurturing and warm environment
which makes good use of the space that it has.

My daughter has been very happy at Nelly's. She has been there since she was 10 months old and I felt she learnt a lot in the baby's room and the staff there genuinely cared for her and her development. Nelly's was very supportive of my daughter when her new sibling arrived and during her transition
to the "big kid's" room where they continue to encourage her to learn and discover new things. I like that they encourage a collaborative approach with parents.

Our 2yr old daughter joined less than a month ago and absolutely loves it. We already feel part of the family and would highly recommend it! The staff are very welcoming and you can see they work great as a team together. We are very fond of our key workers but all the staff are lovely and great with
the children. There are lots of varied activities and we especially love that she can play outdoors whenever. It’s also been nice to see some of these activities in Tapestry recently. The food menus are varied and well balanced which is also important to us. As for the children they are always happy and content, very busy playing and exploring as children do!

Nellys Turney Road has been a brilliant nursery for my son. The staff are amazing, they provide such a caring, nurturing environment that has helped my very shy boy blossom. His confidence has grown, he has made loads of friends and loves his time there.
There are always stimulating activities and
a lovely outdoor play area. I cannot recommend Nellys highly enough and just wish I had found them sooner than I did.

Our daughter has been attending Nelly's from the date of her second birthday. We carefully selected this nursery, after viewing many others in the area. My wife and I both practice attachment/gentle parenting and the decision to enrol her in daycare was a difficult one. That being said, the staff at
Nelly's have been incredible from the beginning. They are all caring, kind and they go to great lengths to ensure our daughter feels loved and secure in her environment. She has formed a genuine attachment with, not only her key worker but many other staff members, who are engaging and love their jobs; for us, this has been the essential difference between other caregivers. The staff love the children and they are endlessly caring. The environment itself is warm, welcoming and homely. We appreciate the effort that goes into ensuring our little girl is stimulated, although we really appreciate that everything is child led and play focused. We wholeheartedly recommend this nursery.

Nelly's Nursery - Turney Road is a great nursery. My daughter has been there from 12 months old to present (30 months) and I feel that the care has been excellent throughout from the baby room to the main room. The carers are very experienced and they provide a very warm and encouraging environment
which allowed my little one to develop with confidence. Much thought have been given to the emotional and physical needs of the children. I’m very pleased with Nelly’s and also feel reassured to see my daughter having fun when I pick her up in the evening. Recently, I’ve observed my daughter using “please” and “thank you” more often I believe Nelly’s have played an important role in helping her develop her social etiquette.

We loved the atmosphere at Nelly's from our first visit, there is a homely feel and the staff show genuine concern, care and love for the children. They were particularly good at settling in, and there was always a key person available in the mornings to administer cuddles and ensure our toddler felt
safe and secure when we left. We couldn't ask for more.

My older two children attended another branch of Nelly's Nursery a few years ago, and now my youngest is at Turney Road. As with my older two, my husband and I have been extremely pleased with how she has settled in and above all the caring and positive atmosphere created by the staff, who really seem
dedicated to making sure the children are happy, stimulated and well cared for. The facilities at the nursery are great - a charming little garden with lots of outdoor toys, and well thought out and equipped indoor play and activity areas, but with a homely feel. Our daughter loves her time at Nelly's and has become very fond of the carers and other children. I would certainly recommend it.

Both my children attend/have attended Nelly's Turney Road. The staff and management team there provide a nurturing, positive and safe environment for children to learn, tailoring activities to meet the needs of individual children. There is an overwhelming atmosphere of care and commitment amongst the
staff. Staff turnover is very low which is a huge positive for me. Both my children are/were extremely happy there due to the high standards maintained by this wonderful staff team.

Nelly’s is an excellent nursery. Our daughter has been going there since she was two and she flourished there. The level of care is outstanding – from what she eats, the activities she does and the interaction with parents, there is very little we would change. Her progress is tracked regularly and
they work well with parents to improve areas requiring attention. They encourage children to be independent, thoughtful and assertive. The only thing we would suggest changing is the illness policy. Every spike in temperature requires the child to go home, even if it is a one off.

Our daughter has been at Nelly's since she was 7 months old. We are really happy with the culture and home from home environment they provide. The staff are terrific and the low turnover means that they are all brilliant at knowing her comforts and likes and dislikes. There is a wide range of activities
which she loves including whippersnappers and PE. She also surprised us the other night by counting in French.

My oldest son was at Nelly's from 2012 - 2015, and my youngest is still there. We love everything about the nursery. The staff genuinely care about the kids and take excellent care of them. The development reviews are well structured and they strike the right balance between encouragement and development.
I am dreading our last day - there will be tears!

Our son has enjoyed every day of his 3 years at Nelly's Nursery. The staff have been like family for these most important years. They have given him all the support that he needs to enable him to become the confident little boy he is. He has done PE activities, reading and all the motor skills, social

My name is Liz Harris, and I am the Manager here at Nelly’s Turney Road.


Having worked in the childcare industry since 1997, I recently celebrated my twentieth anniversary here at Nelly’s Turney Road where I have gained my qualifications in Childcare and Education.


Working with children is my passion as there is nothing better than seeing them develop and grow through care and play. I believe that children develop best when they are most comfortable which is why I strive to deliver a ‘home away from home’ experience by creating partnerships with parents across the setting.


I have a calm and friendly nature, and a big smile and will always go above and beyond to ensure my team provides the highest levels of childcare.
