Partou Turney Road Day Nursery Pre-School - rated Outstanding by Ofsted in February 2020 - has a well-earned reputation as one of the leading providers of childcare in the Dulwich area. The nursery offers outstanding care to children aged three months to five years and is open from 7.30am to 6.30pm Monday to Friday, for 50 weeks of the year (closed for two weeks over Christmas).

Conveniently located on the corner of Turney Road and Croxted Road, a short distance from Herne Hill and West Dulwich railway stations, the nursery enjoys bright and airy rooms and a wonderful garden.

There are separate rooms for the under twos and over twos, furnished with age-appropriate toys and resources, ensuring that the best possible standard of care, development and education is provided. The outside play area allows children to play and learn outdoors to further enhance their experience at the nursery.

The nursery operates a key person policy, ensuring that children are cared for by a member of staff who gets to know parents and their children really well.

Great emphasis is placed on creating a loving, nurturing and warm environment for children. Meals are included in fees and children receive nutritious lunches and teas every day.

Free childcare is available to eligible three- to five-year-olds, childcare vouchers are accepted and the nursery offers free settling in sessions for new children.

Lovely nursery - wvery member of staff knows every child by name, knows what they've been up to, whether they have allergies and what's going on in their lives more broadly. So far we've seen minimal staff turnover and our little one has settled well. Highly recommend.

Our daughter is having a fabulous time at this nursery. She settled in really quickly, and made a really strong bond with her key person. There are always lots of fun activities planned and plenty of time to go outside and play. I love the fact the nursery is really flexible around the child too. They're

I feel confident that she is having a great time while there, that she is being looked after by people who care, and that she is learning and growing at the same time. Turney Road is a wonderful nursery. The staff are dedicated, attentive and know the children as individuals. The setting is well laid out with lots of character and different areas for the children to investigate. The garden is carefully designed with climbing, water and sand play and planting opportunities.
The size is really nice, lots of different playmates, but not too many children in each space. There are music and French classes on some days too. Safeguarding and learning is excellent. I feel very lucky to have had two children attend Turney Road!

Our older daughter has been attending since September 2023 and is very happy here. The staff are kind and caring and they all know the children well, even if they work in a different room. The activities are great and varied, the children have been gardening and doing woodwork to name a few. Our younger
daughter is doing settling-in sessions and they are going well, in particular, the staff have always made an effort to say hello and interact with our younger daughter when doing pick up and drop off of our older daughter.

Love everything about this nursery, especially the amazing staff! My boy loves it there and looks forward to going every day, he even wants to go on the weekends. He has thrived and grown in confidence so quickly which we are really pleased about given he was a Covid baby but the nursery staff took

We've had 2 children at the nursery over the past 4 years. Both have thrived in the small nurturing environment and have been happy to go in every day. Our youngest child is sadly now in his last few months at the nursery before school, having been there since turning 1 and we will really miss the lovely
staff.
The nursery really recognises the individuality and interests of each child and our son has been happy to engage in lots of gardening and cooking. In the preschool room this year, our son has made great progress in his numeracy, letter recognition and writing, and the nursery seems to have done this with lots of fun enjoyable activities, rather than anything that seems too academic and pressured. The space they have is lovely - our son especially loves the garden, and the food they eat every day sounds delicious!
Overall very happy with our choice of nursery for our kid's early years - thank you!

Lovely nursery, caring staff, who know the children really well. I have had two kids here, my youngest daughter has been there since she was 9 months old, and is happy to go in every morning! The manager is always smiling and knows every child, key person is lovely and does review meeting which discusses
my daughter’s development and shares really sweet photo updates of her at nursery regularly, and every staff seems to know her really well whichever room they are in. You can tell they put a lot of effort in making the nursery feel warm and like a home away from home for the kids. When Grandad picks up my daughter, the staff always go the extra mile to help him. Overall wonderful nursery and we are very happy!

The Nursery has shown a great deal of improvement in the last 6-9 months under the direction of the newly installed senior management.
Our children have developed well during this time and we appreciate the communication channels used in person upon daily drop-off/collection and via the reports that
are sent out.
Our children have different characters and interests and the staff work well to obtain feedback from us and the kids to help them develop with their core interests featured as well as proactively creating well-structured and thought-out learning environments for them to learn.
Overall we are very pleased with how the children are developing and we thank the staff for all their professionalism and support throughout.

The staff and the manager in Turney Road are the most lovely, caring teachers I ever met. I left in their carers both of my daughters, and I would do it 100 times again.

We love Nelly's Turney Road! Our 15-month-old all started in the baby room a few months ago and we were impressed with them from the get-go. They offered a long settling-in period (4-6 weeks) which really supported our son's transitions. They have been able to support individual children's routines/nap
schedules which we found really reassuring. The staff are truly wonderful and we feel like all of them have a vested interest in all the children there. Contact with his key worker is very frequent and the daily update are so appreciated. We really feel like he is thriving in a nurturing environment. We are also very impressed with the management at Nelly's. Overall, a great place!

My grand-niece has been attending Nelly's Nursery Turney Road since November 2020 and she has been okay. However, I raised a concern about her speech 7 to 8 months ago because she is 3 years old and I could hardly hear what she says and yet she has been attending a reputable Nursery. At her best, she
was only muttering and this was very disturbing to me; she was unable to say hello and request for something etc. I raised this with my elder sister who passed on my concerns to the school. To my excitement, in the last 6 months, my grand-niece has improved and can now talk for England. Whatever has happened in the last 6 months at the Nursery is commendable. She is very happy and comes home to recite whatever she learns. I am now a happy grand - aunt. Well done Nelly's Nursery Turney Road, keep up the good work. Thanks.

My daughter has been attending Nellys Turney Road for a couple of months and is settling in brilliantly due to the excellent staff and facilities. The staff are all so friendly, they have welcomed my daughter wonderfully and she is really getting to know them. They contact me to put me at ease if she
has a wobble after drop-off and provide updates throughout and at the end of the day. The nursery itself is lovely and homely with great food and an outside area with lots of educational toys and areas for the kids to explore safely. I am delighted with the nursery so far and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

Super happy with our key worker, she was born to work with children and our little girl is super happy at Nelly's Nursery. My name is Liz Harris, and I am the Manager here at Nelly’s Turney Road.


Having worked in the childcare industry since 1997, I recently celebrated my twentieth anniversary here at Nelly’s Turney Road where I have gained my qualifications in Childcare and Education.


Working with children is my passion as there is nothing better than seeing them develop and grow through care and play. I believe that children develop best when they are most comfortable which is why I strive to deliver a ‘home away from home’ experience by creating partnerships with parents across the setting.
