Bright Horizons West Hampstead Station Day Nursery and Preschool is a beautiful Victorian villa, renovated to a high standard, designed to bring the outdoors in. The big windows maximise the feeling of light and space within the building.

Unlike some London nurseries, the nursery has a large garden at the rear where children can play sports, ride bikes on a cycling track with traffic lights and enjoy sensory experiences.

The nursery facilities are well-maintained and clean, creating a safe and hygienic environment for the children. The rooms are bright and inviting, with a variety of age-appropriate toys, books and learning materials available. Children also benefit from dedicated areas for different activities, including quiet reading corners, creative play zones, and outdoor play spaces. The nursery follows a structured curriculum that is designed to promote holistic development in the children, with the staff engaging the children in various educational activities, such as storytelling, arts and crafts and group play.

With a dedicated team of specialist teachers in the studios who are supernumerary to all the wonderful nursery mentors, children are nurtured and looked after as unique and individual children, ensuring that they bring out the best in each and every one and help them to discover and maximise the potential of their talents while also developing confidence in all areas.

Parents are regularly updated on their child's progress, including daily reports and parent-teacher meetings. This open line of communication helps parents stay involved in their child's development and ensures that any concerns or questions are addressed promptly.

The nursery received a rating of 'Good' by Ofsted in August 2022.

My little boy took a while to settle in but all the staff worked hard in helping that happen. Nice concept of having lessons/structure to the day and children get to move around the nursery to keep their day varied. Very flexible when required which is very handy when working and circumstances changing.
Well thought out structure of the day compared to other nurseries i.e. timing of meals and naps.

My daughter is attending Active Learning West Hampstead since she was about 1 year old, and we are very happy with the care she receives there. The staff is lovely, very warm and friendly. The staff give us a daily update on the days' activities and what our daughter has been up to, including small
details such as how well she's eaten, who she played with, which activities she enjoyed more, etc. The nursery is very clean and organized, with a relaxed and positive atmosphere. As parents, we are very happy with the nursery.

We have had our daughter in Active Learning West Hampstead for more than 2.5 years and we are super happy with the way it's being run.
The care, knowledge, diversity of classes and education is more than anything we could offer ourselves. The nursery has great opening hours, they serve breakfast,
lunch and dinner and the food is good.
The kids seem to love it and I can't speak highly enough of the carers and teachers. They are all super lovely and they really care and bond with the children.
It's the perfect solution for a working city couple like us. Worthwhile the added trip on the bus in the morning.

Active Learning West Hampstead provides professional and warmhearted care.
Our daughter started full time daycare at the age of 5 months and she has been very happy there.
The carers are lovely, the rooms are neat and the outdoor space is spacious. We would definitively recommend this nursery!

My daughter has attended Active Learning West Hampstead since she was 11 months old. She enjoys it and is very settled. The staff are caring and engaging. I feel she is very well looked after and she is involved in lots of activities to help her development.
There were some admin issues when she first
joined, but this has now been addressed and quality of communication with parents is very good.

Our daughter has been attending the nursery for the last two years. We couldn't be happier! All staff (not only her key worker) are knowledgeable about her day, what she likes, activities she enjoys etc. She adores spending time with the practitioners and other kids. Almost every morning she's very
excited to go to the nursery and we are extremely proud to see how well she develops and how independent she becomes.

Current Review Score: 9.1 (9.090)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.1 (9.090) out of 10 for Bright Horizons West Hampstead Station Day Nursery and Preschool is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.2 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.916 for Bright Horizons West Hampstead Station Day Nursery and Preschool is calculated as follows: ( (98 Excellents x 5) + (9 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 107 Ratings = 4.916
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.174 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bright Horizons West Hampstead Station Day Nursery and Preschool is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 164 number of registered child places is 32.8. 9 Positive Reviews ÷ 32.8 = 0.274
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
