Acorn at New Bradwell works in partnership with New Bradwell School and the Windmill Children’s Centre.

The nursery is small and friendly. It provides wrap-around care for children in the school’s nursery class. It offers after-school and holiday care for children in the main school. There are also free sessional places for eligible two-year-olds.

The nursery is light and spacious, with a homely and child-centred focus and also has an enclosed outdoor play area. As with all Acorn nurseries, the fees are fully inclusive of all meals, snacks, drinks (including approved formula milk), nappies and activities. The friendly staff welcome visits from prospective parents.

The nursery is open-plan, with a variety of different activity areas to support all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage, providing a holistic environment which nurtures children’s curiosity and learning. Being a small nursery, it enables children of all ages to play alongside each other, with babies and toddlers being able to learn from the older children, while also enjoying their own space and time with their key person.

Younger children benefit from the support of the older children and the older children grow in confidence as they role model new skills. The carefully planned environment enables children to keep the same key person throughout their nursery experience. The children's key person develops the environment and activities to spark the children’s curiosities and interests as they learn through play.

  • Fees are inclusive of all meals, snacks, drinks (including approved formula milk), nappies and activities.
    We do not charge registration fees, only a £100 deposit which is refunded against the first month’s fees. We don’t charge for settling in sessions, but we do expect payment for all nursery fees to be paid up front at the beginning of each month, which is standard practice for all childcare providers. We do not charge for bank holidays, our four training days each year, or for the three days closure between Christmas and New Year. We do, however, charge for days children don’t attend through illness or holidays, apart from exceptional circumstances.

Our daughter started nursery in September. We were worried about the transition as she is very clingy to me (mum) and had never really been away from me. We could not have been more impressed with how the staff welcomed her, got her into a routine and supported with our requests and home routine. She
loves nursery, smiles when we talk about it, and runs in on her own in the morning. We are very happy parents to know she’s happy while she is away from us!

My daughter started at Acorn Day Nursery New Bradwell in January and has settled amazingly! All of the staff are fab and have helped my daughter integrate into the rest of the group with ease. We love how it is free flow and how our daughter has the opportunity to interact with younger children as she
is due a new sibling in the next few weeks. All in all, I cannot fault the care given to our daughter and how with regular updates from the nursery, I too have transitioned well.

My daughter goes to The Millers at New Bradwell which is run by Acorn Day Nursery and she loves it so much, staff are brilliant and she loves them.
Great nursey, my son also went here too, then went up to foundation one in New Bradwell School.

My children have been attending the breakfast club and after-school club since June/July when I started work.
The staff and response time to any messages has been amazing. My kids love it and never want to come home, which made me feel so much better about their long days while Im working!

This is a brilliant nursery that tends to my child very well and keeps me updated even throughout the sessions on what my child is doing. The staff are always caring and understanding when dealing with my child. The staff make me feel comfortable at pick-ups and drop-offs.

An absolute outstanding nursery. We have four children and they have all attended Millers, time for twos. Our third child is also autistic and has many special needs. The staff, especially his keyworker supported his needs, in a most fantastic way. He was walking and extremely happy by the end of the
year. Thank you so much ladies. We really appreciate everything you have done for our children and us as a family. Our youngest child joined Millers in September of this year and is extremely happy. He wants to leave the house ten minutes early just so he gets to the nursery ASAP.

Our daughter was made to feel so welcome at breakfast and after-school club and so were we. When we drop her off, she enters with a smile and when we pick her up she is so engrossed in playing with other children, running about outside or participating in arts and crafts. Communication with parents

My daughter has been with Acorn from Nursery and loves the holiday club now that she is in the school. I can honestly say she looks forward to half term to attend the club, she always comes home having done a fun activity during the day and is excited to return. My sons (8 and 5) both attend this holiday club on a regular basis and they absolutely love it. In fact, when informed they would be doing only half days, they complained and asked for full days. The staff are friendly and flexible, food is good (so I'm informed) and the variety of activities on offer
is brilliant. The administrative team are extremely accomodating and helpful, and the fees are very competitive. All in all, thoroughly recommended (by me and my boys)!

My daughter attends during the school holidays and loves being there. Every day my daughter comes home telling us of all the activities she did throughout the day. She gets so excited and can't wait to go back. My wife even got told off for picking up early! Staff are all friendly and it's clear they
listen to the children and help them feel very welcome and safe. We've since mentioned to other parents and they too have booked for a trial and are very happy with the service provided.

My son was full-time with the nursery team from the age of one when I returned to work. The team were so amazing and made the transition for me back to work as easy as it could be, it was so reassuring to know he was well cared for. He was always happy and well-occupied with educational and fun activities.
He then attended the F1 and F2 classes so we enjoyed the hybrid care offered by the team. Now my son is in year 1 we have enjoyed the benefits of breakfast club, supper club, and holiday club. The team are so warm and supportive and I always feel happy knowing he is in such good hands. Holiday clubs are really fun and he loves the variety of seasonal activities on offer. The team always make a huge effort and there are a big variety of things for the kids allowing them to mix with different ages. Would highly recommend the fantastic team at Acorn.

Great nursery. My eldest boy has attended the nursery before going to school he absolutely loved the nursery. My little boy runs in every morning since he is 7 months old and he loves to go there . Amazing staff with so much heart and caring mindset, they are really make an effort to engage the kids
and develop them in a very individualised way. They always keep me informed about daily activities. He is very well looked after and as a mum, I feel happy knowing that he is feeling comfortable and that he is enjoying every day. Thank you all for your hard work!

Aimee has been working in Early Years for over fifteen years and holds the Early Years Professional Status. Aimee joined Acorn in February 2013 as Nursery Manager of New Bradwell. Aimee has completed an MA in Education, using action research to develop the practices of the nursery. Aimee works closely with the local school and children’s centre to meet the needs of the local community.

Louise started with Acorn in June 2024., having worked in Early Years since leaving college over 23 years ago. During that time, Louise has worked in nurseries as well as Childminding and Nannying. Completing both Level 2 and Level 3 in Early Years. Louise has almost completed Level 5 on Leadership in the Early Years (April). Outside of this, Louise has also completed OU courses 'Learning and Teaching in the primary years' and 'Introduction to Childhood Studies and Psychology'. Louise is absolutely passionate about early years!
