Acorn at New Bradwell works in partnership with New Bradwell School and the Windmill Children’s Centre.

The nursery is small and friendly. It provides wrap-around care for children in the school’s nursery class. It offers after-school and holiday care for children in the main school. There are also free sessional places for eligible two-year-olds.

The nursery is light and spacious, with a homely and child-centred focus and also has an enclosed outdoor play area. As with all Acorn nurseries, the fees are fully inclusive of all meals, snacks, drinks (including approved formula milk), nappies and activities. The friendly staff welcome visits from prospective parents.

The nursery is open-plan, with a variety of different activity areas to support all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage, providing a holistic environment which nurtures children’s curiosity and learning. Being a small nursery, it enables children of all ages to play alongside each other, with babies and toddlers being able to learn from the older children, while also enjoying their own space and time with their key person.

Younger children benefit from the support of the older children and the older children grow in confidence as they role model new skills. The carefully planned environment enables children to keep the same key person throughout their nursery experience. The children's key person develops the environment and activities to spark the children’s curiosities and interests as they learn through play.

  • Fees are inclusive of all meals, snacks, drinks (including approved formula milk), nappies and activities.
    We do not charge registration fees, only a £100 deposit which is refunded against the first month’s fees. We don’t charge for settling in sessions, but we do expect payment for all nursery fees to be paid up front at the beginning of each month, which is standard practice for all childcare providers. We do not charge for bank holidays, our four training days each year, or for the three days closure between Christmas and New Year. We do, however, charge for days children don’t attend through illness or holidays, apart from exceptional circumstances.

All staff members are always thoroughly polite, friendly and professional. My daughter currently attends and has a wonderful time. My other children also attended this nursery. Cannot recommend highly enough.

My daughter has been at this nursery for the last three and a half years and it has been instrumental in her development. All the staff are caring and welcoming and create a lovely atmosphere for the children. I receive detailed reports about her development and how she is doing day to day which is
great. They do a range of activities to keep the children learning and engaged and all staff have a real passion for what they do. Any issues are also discussed and actioned which is always reassuring as a parent.

Since September 2023, when my daughter (1 year and 4 months) started nursery at New Bradwell, we have seen so many changes in her behaviour. She talks more, she is much more sociable and a lot more confident. She plays a lot and she understands so many things for her age, it's unbelievable. The nursery
has definitely built up her confidence and she is so relaxed when she is there. Sometimes I think, she's struggling on the days she's at home, as she can't wait to go back. To be honest I'm not surprised, the nursery is very welcoming and she feels very happy when she is there. The staff are absolutely amazing and they put their effort in everything they do. I love their approach, it's more like a warm family home approach than rather a cold strictly institutional approach like other nurseries have. Honestly, I would recommend this Nursery 100% to any future parents or parents who are looking for a nursery. We couldn't be happier with how she's developed so far.

My little boy has had a fantastic experience settling in to this nursery. His key worker is so lovely and has clearly made a great bond with him already. All the staff are so friendly and clearly love working with all the children. The app is fantastic for getting updates on what he's been doing and
keeps me reassured throughout the day. My little boy is always so happy to go there which, in turn, makes me happy to send him. Overall, a great nursery!

The staff have worked hard to form strong attachments with my children, ensuring they are happy, confident and ready to learn. My daughter has attended the Acorn Day Nursery at New Bradwell since she was around 6 months old. They have been fabulous from the very start. The initial communication with the nursery administrator in organising her booking patterns was fantastic and has continued to be throughout my daughter’s time
at the nursery - she will answer all your questions in a helpful and timely manner. The nursery manager is wonderful - she knows all the children so well and their recent Ofsted report absolutely sings her praises! All of the staff are so caring and lovely and have played such an instrumental part in my daughter’s development, particularly her key person who knows her so well. I love seeing all the photos of what my daughter gets up to each day via their communication app. The many settling-in sessions my daughter attended when she started really made her feel safe and happy when she started doing full days.
I really can’t rate them highly enough - I’m so happy my daughter attends, as is she!

We have had both our boys placed at Acorn Day Nurser (New Bradwell). One who is now 5 and has now left for school reception, the other is 3 and has been diagnosed with global developmental delay and autism.
I cannot emphasise enough the positive impact the team have had on their development. They
are professional, caring and supportive, which reassures my wife and I, knowing that our children are in good hands.

I can’t fault Acorn Day Nursery (New Bradwell), they are professional, warm and attentive. My son was only 11 months when he started going to nursery and he settled in so quickly. He has such a lovely bond with the staff and they are always willing to have a chat about his development. We are kept up-to-date
with photos on the app which I love. I also appreciate how relaxed the environment is, the kids all play together which is fantastic for social development and the outdoor space is great for messy play.

Acorn Day Nursery (New Bradwell) is the perfect environment for my two children, aged 1 and 3. I love that it’s a small setting, so the older children mix with the younger ones. As a result, my children have formed a bond with all the staff, who do a great job of caring for them, teaching them and entertaining
them two days a week. The youngest in particular has come on leaps and bounds. We’d recommend the nursery to anyone looking for a place for their child(ren).

My experience with New Bradwell has been nothing but positive. My child and I have been made to feel so welcome she has slotted into the 'family' with ease. Communication is exceptional from the administrator to all staff. Quick responses when mailing and face-to-face keeping me up to date with how
my child is doing, updates all throughout the day on the app with different activities she has been up to and what she's been eating. My son also attended this setting before starting school and I recommend this nursery to everyone. Thank you team keep doing what you're doing.

Acorn Nursery at New Bradwell are amazing. I always recommend them to friends who have children. My daughter who's 3 years of age and is attending Acorn absolutely loves going to nursery and always talks about her day. All the members of staff are absolutely amazing, caring and so kind to my daughter.

Great nursery. My little one goes there and so did my son when he was younger.
Never had any issues with the nursery staff or anything whatsoever. The staff are brilliant with the children and they do a lot with them too. They look after our children very well. Would highly recommend it.

Our journey at Acorn at New Bradwell has been extremely pleasant.
My son attended the same nursery, and he had a great time there.
Our daughter attends Acorn now, and she is a lockdown baby and did not have much opportunity to meet people and socialize, as expected, she was extremely agitated to
be left with someone different from us. However, the team showed patience and dedication to help her settle. The staff are very friendly.

My daughter has a wonderful time four days a week at Acorns Nursery New Bradwell. She started when she just turned two and the staff are great and all welcomed her with open arms as they do every day, they made myself and my daughter feel so comfortable with her in their care, she has really grown her
character attending the day Nursery and I believe it’s all coming from her learning and new skills that she has picked up from nursery. Two staff members have done great with building my daughter's confidence and positive attitude towards life, she is now on her journey towards school in September and I am sure she will miss the team at Acorns terribly when the day comes to leave.

I have two children that attend this nursery. I waited for a space for my second, as I love it here. It has such a real family feel to this setting.
I could not ask for more from this setting.
My children are extremely well cared for, their personal needs are met to high standards and above.
Educationally
this setting is the best I have experienced, my children thrive and have progressed hugely, using numbers and different vocabulary, becoming happy, independent little people.
The whole team are smiling, friendly, approachable and happy to help in any way they can.
The outside play is fantastic. My children thrive and thoroughly enjoy their time here.

Aimee has been working in Early Years for over fifteen years and holds the Early Years Professional Status. Aimee joined Acorn in February 2013 as Nursery Manager of New Bradwell. Aimee has completed an MA in Education, using action research to develop the practices of the nursery. Aimee works closely with the local school and children’s centre to meet the needs of the local community.

Louise started with Acorn in June 2024., having worked in Early Years since leaving college over 23 years ago. During that time, Louise has worked in nurseries as well as Childminding and Nannying. Completing both Level 2 and Level 3 in Early Years. Louise has almost completed Level 5 on Leadership in the Early Years (April). Outside of this, Louise has also completed OU courses 'Learning and Teaching in the primary years' and 'Introduction to Childhood Studies and Psychology'. Louise is absolutely passionate about early years!
