Located in a charming listed building on Lower High Street, Shooting Stars Nursery & Preschool Stourbridge offers a unique and character-rich setting for early years education. Just off the town’s ring road, the nursery provides a welcoming and stimulating environment where children feel safe, happy, and inspired to learn.

The nursery is organised into four age-specific rooms, each designed to meet the developmental needs of children at different stages. These rooms are equipped with premium Community Play furniture and a wide array of educational resources. As children grow, their learning spaces evolve to support a smooth transition into more structured learning, helping them prepare confidently for school.

Shooting Stars follows a holistic approach to learning that combines child-led play with adult-guided activities, ensuring full coverage of the EYFS curriculum. This method encourages creativity, independence, and curiosity while supporting key developmental milestones.

To promote transparency and peace of mind, the nursery offers ParentCam—a secure CCTV system that allows parents to view their child’s day in real time. The nursery app complements this by providing regular updates, photos, and insights into each child’s progress, fostering strong communication and parent involvement.

Outdoor play is a valued part of the daily routine at Shooting Stars. The nursery features a well-equipped garden with a mud kitchen and a variety of play resources that encourage sensory exploration, imaginative play, and physical activity in a safe and engaging space.

My boys are thriving at Shooting Stars, not just at nursery, but they're soo much happier at home too. Being at another nursery previously, I can see such a difference in them, they're excited to get to Shooting stars, and it makes me content to leave them and go to work - so much happier!
The meals
are so much better than in the last setting, and the twins love dinner time at the nursery. They tell me all about what they've had when they come home.
The girls who look after them (and everyone else who works there) are the loveliest people, the boys adore them, and I trust them completely. Thanks for all you do.

I can’t thank the staff enough who look after my little boy; they are always so pleasant and supportive. My son is taking a while to settle in at the nursery, but the staff are always so kind and make leaving my son a little easier for myself. The staff in my son's room are very compassionate about
their job, and I love when they send me updates throughout the day on what my son is doing and also his progress. All of the staff at the nursery are very polite, welcoming and pleasant.

Excellent nursery. My daughter has been going there since she has been 9 months old. She is now almost 4 and is starting school in September.
Shooting Stars have really helped with her development and confidence; she is certainly ready for school now.
All the staff there are great, especially one
particular staff member. My daughter talks about them often. All the staff are very welcoming and happy in their workplace, which also makes a difference.
They do lovely activities with the children and have lots of fun in the garden.
I would highly recommend Shooting Stars to anyone!

Since joining Shooting Stars Stourbridge in December, my 16-month-old son has noticeably grown in confidence and skills. The baby room staff are amazing, caring and obviously love their jobs. One lady is wonderful with my son, so much so that he started saying her name loads since February!
We always
get wonderful little updates on the app on the day that he's in, which clearly shows what skills he's developing whilst playing. The activities are always varied, and he always comes home really happy and absolutely worn out.
They have been amazing at catering to my son's cow's milk protein allergy and have recently helped with a possible additional soy allergy. I don't know how they do it, but my son always eats and really enjoys pretty much everything they give him as well!
The camera is a really lovely little tool as well, as it means I can pop on and have a little look to see how he's getting on throughout the day.

I could not be happier with the care that our 18-month-old son has had at Shooting Stars since he started 2-months ago. As a lockdown baby, he has really struggled with separation. He went to a different nursery for around 3-months before he started here in January, and he just never settled in. He
cried every time we would drop him off, he would cling to me, and we were made to feel that it wasn’t normal.
Fast forward to now, and he is so different. The girls at Shooting Stars have been absolutely fantastic with him. They’ve been so understanding of his needs and support him when he needs that closeness and care.
They arrange such wonderful activities during the day and have a fab garden space for them to play. The meals he has there are also great, and they often give him second portions; he loves it so much!
We are so grateful we found this nursery, and we no longer dread nursery days spending the whole day worrying.

My little boy started Shooting Stars in September last year after looking at a few nurseries. The second we walked in just felt like home. We both have had such excellent experiences since then, and he has formed such a lovely bond with all of the staff in the baby room, and when I say all, I mean the
whole nursery. It’s so lovely when we walk in, every member of staff we pass knows his name, and that says a lot about a nursery and staff. Shooting Stars came highly recommended, and I now know why, the care given by all staff, the wide range of toys and experiences they encourage the children to play and get involved with and a gorgeous garden all with an added bonus of nursery cam which is great, I also love how staff have been at the nursery for years, which encourages me that staff love the work environment. As a qualified teacher and working within education and educational settings, I wanted a nursery that really encouraged learning through play, and Shooting Stars does just that.

I was really nervous about sending my daughter to nursery after having a lockdown baby who I’d never been away from. However, I needn’t have worried as Shooting Stars have been amazing! My daughter has attended for 6-months now and absolutely loves her time there. All the staff are wonderful and caring,
and it is such a lovely and welcoming place. They have really got to know her little personality, and the updates they provide throughout the day are so lovely. I feel so lucky to have such an incredible nursery so close to home.

My son only started nursery in January (when he was 11-months-old) and would get quite upset when I would leave. The girls were so understanding of this, and I never felt rushed to leave him. He's only been going for 6-weeks, and has settled in so well, he no longer cries when I drop him off... he actually
can't get in the room fast enough! I have also used the nursery cam numerous times, and I'm always put at ease by seeing how the girls all interact with my son and the other babies in the room. The photos and information which are uploaded through the nursery app are brilliant, as it helps give me an idea of what activities to do at home.

We have been so happy with Shooting Stars since the moment we first viewed the nursery when pregnant. Our little boy settled in so well during Jan 2021 when he started at the age of 1. We were impressed with how well the nursery has dealt with all of the changing restrictions as a result of Covid-19
and was extremely happy to still be able to attend the first 2 settling sessions. Being in attendance makes all the difference when leaving your baby for the first time.

Our little boy has never got upset at drop off and always seems calm and settled into his routine during the day and the camera is great to check how he is doing occasionally. It is clear that the social interactions he gets and the activities they do have aided his development. The staff in the baby room have been amazing and we are looking forward to seeing how he transitions with his move to the toddler room in the coming weeks.

My son has been at this nursery since he was 11-months-old and is currently nearly 2 1/2. I work in Birmingham, so having the nursery cam was an extra reassurance. The nursery team are amazing and very welcoming. They take the time and care to get to know your child and their own little ways of doing
things! My son thrives in this nursery environment and really benefits from all the activities they do to aid his development. I am also reassured that he eats healthy, nutritious and fresh meals that are prepared for onsite - another selling point compared to other nurseries. The manager and her wonderful team should be very proud of the nursery they have created.

My son has been going to Shooting Stars for the last 18 months. Both he and I love it there, I always feel happy and content knowing he’s safe, secure and having fun there.
I find their communication with us parents is brilliant, using apps to update us on news, events and pictures of our children
whilst they are at nursery. Also having the ‘nursery cam’ there when you can check in on them really puts your mind at ease!
Everything, down to the meal plans and the different activities and learning what he does there, I honestly would not change a thing. I would and do highly recommend this nursery.

My daughter has been going to Shooting Stars Stourbridge since she was 8-months-old. I viewed a number of nurseries but had such a warm and welcoming feeling when I was shown around; I knew this was the one. The baby room was just perfect, especially for a first-time mom who was very nervous about leaving
their little one, they filled me with assurances which made it a lot easier. My daughter is now 3-years-old, and it's been lovely to see her learn and develop through her time at the nursery in the several room settings they offer, which are carefully planned out for the age/development stage. She is now in Pre-School and absolutely loves the place! Loves her nursery days and seeing all her friends and the activities they do, she learns so much on a daily basis. They also have a diary log (an app) so you can see what your child has achieved during their day and learning observations. They have handled the COVID situation amazingly, and the environment is safe and secure. Highly recommend.

Both of my children have attended Shooting Stars and have loved being there!
After recent events with COVID-19, my youngest had some time away from the nursery and returned back to Shooting Stars after more than 12-weeks away from the setting. I have been so impressed by the level of professionalism
of the whole team. Ensuring all safety procedures were in place and creating a warm and inviting environment for her return. My daughter came out on her first day back smiling and skipping. She was desperate to get back the next day, she got dressed by herself and was waiting by the front door before anybody was ready!

I thoroughly recommend Shooting Stars to any parent considering the nursery for their children. My daughter is currently in pre-school and has attended since she was in the toddler room, and my son was in pre-school before starting school. The staff are fantastic, warm, attentive and professional. The
children do a great range of activities, of which we're kept updated with photos on the log, as well as a daily email. The nursery has handled the current COVID crisis particularly well, putting in place policies to keep everyone safe but always prioritising the wellbeing of the children. There is a nursery cam available, but I've always been so satisfied with the information about what is happening each day and the knowledge that they're in great hands that I've never even logged in. Both children have made great progress at the nursery, but most importantly have had a lot of fun.

I highly recommend Shooting Stars Nursery in Stourbridge, for a number of reasons. They were very pro-active in starting weeks in advance too deep clean, and transition the nursery environment in preparation for the children to return on 1st June. Each parent has an allocated drop off and pick up time
and the children have a temperature test on the way in, we also had to complete a health questionnaire. The bubbles work very well my 4-year-old daughter adapted to this extremely well. She was overjoyed to get back to the staff and her friends.
My daughter started nursery at 13 months and moved to Shooting Stars at 3 years, I have to say that her developmental progress in all areas but especially her vocabulary improved tremendously. The nursery offers such a wide variety of activities, my daughter has so much fun whilst learning. The app is also an added bonus, I love to see picture updates of what she’s up to and the daily diaries.

I have been impressed with how the nursery is dealing with the circumstances around Coronavirus.
My daughter always goes into nursery very happy and comes home telling me about what she has done during the day, what she ate and who she played with.
When we arrive, staff are always friendly and I
think have dealt with the difficulties of social distancing well and have communicated requirements to parents effectively.
Staff complete detailed diary entries that provide me with a lot of info about how my daughter is progressing.

We have been really reassured by the manager and the team at Shooting stars in Stourbridge regarding our two children returning after the nursery closure due to Covid-19.
Communication has been excellent throughout, provisions of very thorough risk assessments and happy to answer any questions has
helped me feel confident in them returning.
On their first day both my children had a brilliant time and even though things were a bit different to when they last went the staff have obviously worked really hard to try and keep as much normality for them as normal and they can’t wait to go back again next week.

Tracy Hedges

Job Title: Area Manager Joined: 2011

Tracy joined Shooting Stars Nurseries in 2011, at a time when the group had just one nursery setting. She was originally appointed as Deputy Manager at the Stourbridge nursery before stepping into the role of Nursery Manager in 2013. In 2015, she progressed into her current role as Area Manager, bringing with her a wealth of experience from a career in Early Years that spans over 28 years.


Before joining Shooting Stars, Tracy worked across a variety of practitioner, leadership, and senior leadership roles within day nursery settings. Her career also includes time spent as part of a specialist support team working with children who had experienced spinal cord injuries, and she began her journey in childcare as a nanny. Her long-standing commitment to Shooting Stars has made the organisation feel like an extension of herself—she often says it’s as much a part of her as she is of it.


Tracy is deeply passionate about creating magical childhoods that nurture curiosity, excitement, and strong foundations for lifelong success. She has a particular interest in emotional well-being, believing that secure, emotionally enabling environments are essential for children to truly thrive. After many years of hands-on practice, she now channels her passion into supporting teams across the nurseries, helping embed this ethos into the culture of every setting.


Her leadership is rooted in empathy, experience, and a genuine love for early years education. Tracy continues to inspire those around her with her dedication to quality, her belief in the power of nurturing relationships, and her commitment to growing confident, capable teams.

Kully

Kully Dhillon

Job Title: Strategic Development Manager Joined: 2014

Kully began her journey with Shooting Stars Nurseries in September 2014 as the Nursery Manager of the newly opened Wolverhampton setting. In 2022, she progressed into a strategic role, joining the Area Management Team as a Strategic Development Manager.


Her career in childcare began as a Level 2 Apprentice, followed by the completion of her Level 3 qualification. Since 2004, Kully has held a variety of leadership roles, including Room Leader in both Pre-School and Under 2’s, Deputy Manager, and Nursery Manager—spending 16 of those years in management.


These experiences have shaped her deep understanding of early years education and operational leadership.


Kully is particularly passionate about the development of children under two, with a strong focus on building secure attachments and nurturing environments that support emotional wellbeing and early development. She also brings extensive expertise in Health & Safety, SEND, and Safeguarding, which are central to her practice and leadership.


A key focus of Kully’s role is supporting the growth of the early years workforce. She is committed to empowering staff through continuous professional development, helping them build confidence and fulfilment in their roles. Well-being is at the heart of her approach—she strives to foster a positive, supportive workplace for teams and a safe, inspiring space for children.


At Shooting Stars Nurseries, Kully plays a vital role in welcoming new team members through New Employee Workshops and mentoring apprentices throughout their training journey, helping shape the next generation of early years professionals.


Outside of work, Kully enjoys spending quality time with her family and attending football matches as a proud supporter of her local club. She also loves exploring new cities, dining out, and meeting new people.
