Located in a charming listed building on Lower High Street, Shooting Stars Nursery & Preschool Stourbridge offers a unique and character-rich setting for early years education. Just off the town’s ring road, the nursery provides a welcoming and stimulating environment where children feel safe, happy, and inspired to learn.

The nursery is organised into four age-specific rooms, each designed to meet the developmental needs of children at different stages. These rooms are equipped with premium Community Play furniture and a wide array of educational resources. As children grow, their learning spaces evolve to support a smooth transition into more structured learning, helping them prepare confidently for school.

Shooting Stars follows a holistic approach to learning that combines child-led play with adult-guided activities, ensuring full coverage of the EYFS curriculum. This method encourages creativity, independence, and curiosity while supporting key developmental milestones.

To promote transparency and peace of mind, the nursery offers ParentCam—a secure CCTV system that allows parents to view their child’s day in real time. The nursery app complements this by providing regular updates, photos, and insights into each child’s progress, fostering strong communication and parent involvement.

Outdoor play is a valued part of the daily routine at Shooting Stars. The nursery features a well-equipped garden with a mud kitchen and a variety of play resources that encourage sensory exploration, imaginative play, and physical activity in a safe and engaging space.
Nutritious meals and snacks are freshly prepared each day in the on-site kitchen, supporting healthy eating habits and overall wellbeing from an early age.

Both of my children have attended Shooting Stars and have loved being there!
After recent events with COVID-19, my youngest had some time away from the nursery and returned back to Shooting Stars after more than 12-weeks away from the setting. I have been so impressed by the level of professionalism
of the whole team. Ensuring all safety procedures were in place and creating a warm and inviting environment for her return. My daughter came out on her first day back smiling and skipping. She was desperate to get back the next day, she got dressed by herself and was waiting by the front door before anybody was ready!
Reply from Hollie Higgins, Marketing at Shooting Stars Nurseries at StourbridgeThank you for your review, Tracy, we are delighted that your family has had such a positive transition back to Shooting Stars and adapted so well despite the disruptions of COVID. It is heartwarming to read of your daughter's excitement to get back to nursery! We also appreciate the time you have taken to leave your feedback. It means a lot to all of the staff team and management and helps prospective families to get a flavour for Shooting Stars. Thank you!

I thoroughly recommend Shooting Stars to any parent considering the nursery for their children. My daughter is currently in pre-school and has attended since she was in the toddler room, and my son was in pre-school before starting school. The staff are fantastic, warm, attentive and professional. The
children do a great range of activities, of which we're kept updated with photos on the log, as well as a daily email. The nursery has handled the current COVID crisis particularly well, putting in place policies to keep everyone safe but always prioritising the wellbeing of the children. There is a nursery cam available, but I've always been so satisfied with the information about what is happening each day and the knowledge that they're in great hands that I've never even logged in. Both children have made great progress at the nursery, but most importantly have had a lot of fun.
Reply from Hollie Higgins, Marketing at Shooting Stars Nurseries at StourbridgeThank you for your review and recommendation, Kayleigh. We are delighted that your family has enjoyed a positive experience with us at Shooting Stars since joining us, and thank you for your continued support. It's great to hear that both of your children have enjoyed and made good progress at nursery. Thank you for your feedback about the log, nursery cam, our COVID-19 response and, of course, our lovely staff team. We also appreciate the time you have taken to leave your feedback. It means a lot to all of the staff team and management and helps prospective families to get a flavour for Shooting Stars. Thank you!

I highly recommend Shooting Stars Nursery in Stourbridge, for a number of reasons. They were very pro-active in starting weeks in advance too deep clean, and transition the nursery environment in preparation for the children to return on 1st June. Each parent has an allocated drop off and pick up time
and the children have a temperature test on the way in, we also had to complete a health questionnaire. The bubbles work very well my 4-year-old daughter adapted to this extremely well. She was overjoyed to get back to the staff and her friends.
My daughter started nursery at 13 months and moved to Shooting Stars at 3 years, I have to say that her developmental progress in all areas but especially her vocabulary improved tremendously. The nursery offers such a wide variety of activities, my daughter has so much fun whilst learning. The app is also an added bonus, I love to see picture updates of what she’s up to and the daily diaries.
Reply from Hollie Higgins, Marketing at Shooting Stars Nurseries at StourbridgeThank you for your review, Sue, we are delighted that your daughter is happy at nursery whilst also making great progress. It is great to hear your positive feedback on our response to the Coronavirus pandemic and the preparations and measures that we have in place to make the nursery a safe place for the children and staff. We appreciate the time you have taken to leave your feedback. It means a lot to all of the staff team and management and helps prospective families to get a flavour for Shooting Stars. Thank you!

I have been impressed with how the nursery is dealing with the circumstances around Coronavirus.
My daughter always goes into nursery very happy and comes home telling me about what she has done during the day, what she ate and who she played with.
When we arrive, staff are always friendly and I
think have dealt with the difficulties of social distancing well and have communicated requirements to parents effectively.
Staff complete detailed diary entries that provide me with a lot of info about how my daughter is progressing.

We have been really reassured by the manager and the team at Shooting stars in Stourbridge regarding our two children returning after the nursery closure due to Covid-19.
Communication has been excellent throughout, provisions of very thorough risk assessments and happy to answer any questions has
helped me feel confident in them returning.
On their first day both my children had a brilliant time and even though things were a bit different to when they last went the staff have obviously worked really hard to try and keep as much normality for them as normal and they can’t wait to go back again next week.

During the unprecedented circumstances surrounding Covid-19, we have been exceptionally pleased with how the nursery has dealt with the changing circumstances. The communication has been excellent, including regular emails and calls. If I have had any queries as a key worker, the staff have been very
accommodating and reassuring, especially supporting the return of our child to the setting.

My child has been attending shooting stars for over three years and in that time we have been fully supported with her learning and with her development. At each stage where she has transferred rooms the staff have taken time to let her settle, they have understood her needs and they have helped her
achieve her goals. I would recommend this nursery to anyone looking for a safe environment managed by caring and supportive people, who help children to develop and learn to their full potential.

Our son has been going to Shooting Stars Stourbridge since September and he loves it! As parents, we have been so impressed by the communication and support from all staff and couldn't recommend them enough. The variety of activities they do with the kids is brilliant, including getting outdoors which
is really important. They are clearly working towards a curriculum to help the kids develop, but they do so in a fun, playful and age-appropriate way.

The room move from pre-toddler to toddler was managed really well and my child settled in very quickly. We’ve noticed a big advance in his development since being at the nursery and it is closely monitored and tracked by the nursery staff. We especially love the new app which gives us regular feedback
on development and daily activities.
The food given at meal times is very varied, giving the children a chance to try new things.
Overall, our child is very happy at Shooting Stars and has a great time each day.

Our daughter started in summer 2018 in the baby room at the nursery, and we have seen her flourish ever since. She has now moved up rooms and every day we see that continue, with the dedication and caring nature of the staff. She struggled to settle into her new room at first, but with the carers patience
and help, she now can’t wait to get there. The review meetings and the recording of her daily activities are a lovely way for us to see what she does, and to see how the carers feel she is getting on.

I am unable to recommend Stourbridge Shooting stars. I have used the nursery for the past 7 years, and when my eldest child attended, I couldn’t fault the nursery. However, I have not had the same experience second time around, in fact, quite the opposite. Below are some of the issues I have had; The
safeguarding policy and its practices. Some staff being unprofessional when discussing children. The culture of the management and staff more interested in following processes and policies while not applying any common sense/ judgement, children being left to wipe their own bottoms, and no observations made in learning journey for 5 months.
Reply from Natalie McNamara at Shooting Stars Nurseries at StourbridgeIt would be inappropriate for us to publicly comment on the individual details concerning any child or family with whom we work, and we were very disheartened to read this review. We are proud to uphold our policies and procedures consistently and conscientiously. Children will always remain central to our decision making without compromise.

Our learning journeys transferred from paper based to an online, electronic version in September 2018. Unfortunately, it appears that the data recorded electronically has not been downloaded and passed on in this case. We apologise for this and will ensure that this is rectified by the nursery without delay.

This is a great, structured, environment that has seen my son come on leaps and bounds within a few months.
Don't be deceived - what looks like it may only be fun and playful environment great for childcare needs, is also one that is packed with curricular and educational activities that will see
any child be ahead of the game before starting school.

We are pleased with all aspects of Shooting Stars; including the food choices, activities, outdoor play and super staff. It's reassuring to be able to drop off your child and not have anything to worry about apart from pick up (plenty of parking right outside).

I have found this to be an inclusive and informative environment where daily updates by email are great and encourage meaningful conversations with my son; the nursery cam is an extra reassurance - although I do feel the quality could be improved a tad.

And most importantly, I have a happy child showing the progression that has exceeded my expectations!

Shooting Stars made my first experience of childcare so easy and reassuring. They couldn't do enough for me and my daughter during the settling in periods to ensure she was happy in the environment and I was happy leaving her. The girls in the baby room are all wonderful and I am so happy with the care
and attention they have provided. They always keep me updated with her daily progress and go over and above to make sure she is getting the best out of her development at nursery, as well as helping her routine at home. She is a confident and happy baby and I truly feel this nursery has helped her grow into the baby she is. It is lovely to see the bond she has with all the girls.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 10 (9.975) out of 10 for Shooting Stars Nurseries at Stourbridge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 34 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 34 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.975 for Shooting Stars Nurseries at Stourbridge is calculated as follows: ( (397 Excellents x 5) + (10 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 407 Ratings = 4.975
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Shooting Stars Nurseries at Stourbridge is based on 34 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 59 number of registered child places is 11.8, which has been reached with 34 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
