Buttercups Chalfont Park is set across three historic buildings in beautiful parkland. The newly refurbished Orangery is the home of the under 2s, with lots of space to play, a separate sleep room and a garden to themselves. Also newly refurbished, the Lodge houses 2-3 year olds who have access to two garden areas. Finally, the preschool children enjoy the Pavilion, a purpose-built building filled with light. The Pavilion has a dedicated Montessori area and opens onto a fantastic outdoor space. The preschool children also enjoy regular Forest School sessions and swimming lessons at a nearby school.

At the nursery there is a focus on "learning through play", promoting children's natural sense of curiosity, independence and critical thinking skills. There is also emphasis on a range of teaching approaches, including Montessori and HighScope.

The team of experienced practitioners are well supported throughout their roles, allowing them to be the best educators they can be. This is achieved through regular in-house training programmes and external courses.

Please get in touch with the team if you'd like to learn more about the nursery.

This is a fantastic nursery. Great facilities, lovely location and dedicated staff. My son has been attending since he was a 11 months old. He learns something new every day and he developed a lot through play and activities at nursery. I also love that they play outside in the fresh air every day,
which I think is extremely important. We are very grateful to the staff for looking after our son.

My daughter loves Buttercups and her teachers. She looks forward to going to nursery and that gives me peace of mind. I love how they always celebrate every occasion and make things special for the kids, being a working mum I feel less guilty leaving my child. The facilities are also good, very clean
and safe. I get daily debrief without having to ask and given all the changes and adjustments because of the pandemic, the staff have all been truly amazing and adjusting.

Buttercups at Chalfont is wonderful. I feel happy knowing that my daughter is in a safe environment, even in the current climate with COVID19. I'm constantly informed of what's going on at the nursery and get lovely updates/pictures of what my daughter has been doing. She is very happy there, she goes
in with a big smile for the staff.

Our son has been at Chalfont Buttercups for two years and he is now leaving to start school. He has enjoyed every minute and the staff have been absolutely amazing. Facilities and teaching methods are excellent with Montessori being a central point in helping children to develop. A great addition has
been the forest school where he has been learning about the environment, getting some useful life skills and independence. He will be leaving lots of happy memories and well prepared for the next challenge. We are very proud of the progress he has made. He has been encouraged to try his very best. A big thank you to all the staff, you have made a great job.

Our two boys moved to Buttercups from another nursery nearby. From the outset, they were made to feel welcome and loved by the staff. We had a very good feeling about the place, which has continued to this day. The facilities are excellent, including the montessori classroom and montessori resources.
The playground has a very well set up forest school. The overall ambiance is positive and happy. The boys minds and bodies are developed every day, and we notice how curious and adventurous they have become. We pick up two very happy and tired little boys at the end of every day, who tell us all about it on the way home.

Both my children have attended this nursery and are now at school. I feel they were given the best possible start to their education. The Montessori way of learning helped my children become independent and the teacher was outstanding. She had such a great way with the children and both mine really
loved her. On the whole, this nursery is fantastic and I can't recommend it enough.

My son has been at the nursery for just over a year and during that time he has developed and grown so much. The nursery has provided a warm and supportive environment in which to grow. The Montessori classes are a highlight of his learning and they allow him to explore new concepts and ideas in a wonderful
learning environment. We are very happy with the setting and thoroughly recommend it.

The level of care and attention has been good and allowed for our son to flourish. He particularly enjoys the aspects of Montessori which has encouraged his creativity and curiosity always wanting to now explore and do experiments. We really like the concept of Forest School and lots of outdoor activities
and a chance for the kids to do outdoor play and "Bend/Strech". We look forward to the daily email updates and weekly sway where we can see the photos and looks of happiness and joy on the kids faces as they interact and learn with each other.

We are just coming to the end of our eldest son’s time at Buttercups Chalfont, and we have another working his way through. We have nothing but praise for the nursery, over the years we have seen a huge level of investment in the facilities, and now the nursery setting is fantastic for children of all
ages. All members of staff are caring, but above all seem to really enjoy making learning fun for the children. The addition of the on-site forest school has really made a difference in the way the children think and interact with nature, and this is a pleasure to see. Our eldest will miss the teachers (and the food), but they seem to have prepared him well for the next adventure, school.

My two sons have attended nursery from the age of one through to starting school. They have always been extremely happy there and made some great friends. They are very well prepared for school with a wide range of activities covering Montessori, phonics, Maths, science, daily yoga and of course all
the fantastic play in the wonderful garden and forest school. They have invested a lot in recent years in bringing the three rooms up to date with fantastic facilities, very clean and well managed. I would highly recommend Buttercups to anyone.

Our daughter transferred to Buttercups from another nursery and the difference in her and the quality of care is vast. She has thrived since joining Buttercups. It is obvious that the teaching staff here are extremely caring and friendly. The children take part in a vast range of activities, both fun
and educational such as baking and learning how to dress and undress etc. The outdoor space for each age group has recently been renovated and is now purpose built. Each week the menu varies and always incorporates healthy food with a good variety. Overall, we are extremely pleased with the nursery.

Buttercups is an incredible nursery and I would have no hesitation recommending it. The team are kind, calm, professional and keep me informed each day. We are always amazed by what our son gets up to; the range of activities is far beyond what we could do with him at home. Since being back at nursery,
following the lockdown, his confidence has grown and we are noticing new skills developing every week - he is really growing up. Not only is he developing but he is incredibly happy when we collect him each day - some days it feels like he is not quite ready to come home.
Our son joined Buttercups just before lockdown and is now back full time. We have been impressed by how well the team have adapted to the new regulations and demands put upon them. We feel that our son is in a safe environment.
One more practical note - drop off and collection are greatly helped by the amount of parking spaces on the business park. It makes such a difference having a quick turnaround in the morning.

My son has learnt so much here, he enjoys his day thoroughly. There is such a range of daily activities, yoga, Montessori, forest school and the fantastic outdoor garden. The nursery has taught my son to be interested in learning, he comes home wanting to try things he has learnt about during the day.
The teachers are fantastic, caring and nurturing.

As a mother, I found it extremely difficult to accept having to part with my daughter to go back to work - I wanted to feel secure and confident that she would be taken care of in my absence and excel in her development and growth. Although Buttercups was smaller than the other nurseries we visited
in the area, the facilities were modern and clean, the staff friendly and approachable and there is a clear divide of children between 3 buildings all well equipped for the age group they are to hold. 7 months on, the warmth we felt when visiting Buttercups initially comes back every time we go and pick up our daughter. We are so glad we picked this nursery, our daughter loves it and in turn, we are grateful for the great work the staff put in.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.918) out of 10 for Buttercups at Chalfont is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 18 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.968 for Buttercups at Chalfont is calculated as follows: ( (210 Excellents x 5) + (5 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 216 Ratings = 4.968
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.95 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Buttercups at Chalfont is based on 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.95
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 70 number of registered child places is 14, which has been reached with 18 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
