Buttercups Chalfont Park is set across three historic buildings in beautiful parkland. The newly refurbished Orangery is the home of the under 2s, with lots of space to play, a separate sleep room and a garden to themselves. Also newly refurbished, the Lodge houses 2-3 year olds who have access to two garden areas. Finally, the preschool children enjoy the Pavilion, a purpose-built building filled with light. The Pavilion has a dedicated Montessori area and opens onto a fantastic outdoor space. The preschool children also enjoy regular Forest School sessions and swimming lessons at a nearby school.

At the nursery there is a focus on "learning through play", promoting children's natural sense of curiosity, independence and critical thinking skills. There is also emphasis on a range of teaching approaches, including Montessori and HighScope.

The team of experienced practitioners are well supported throughout their roles, allowing them to be the best educators they can be. This is achieved through regular in-house training programmes and external courses.

Please get in touch with the team if you'd like to learn more about the nursery.

Our son started at Buttercups with the orangery class in September 2025, at just 7 months old. From his very first settle to now, the staff have been wonderful. The transition was smooth, thanks to the team's excellent communication. The environment is so inviting and stimulating for the children to
explore and learn, with plenty of resources both inside and out. There are many activities designed to enhance their learning. Since starting, he has progressed from not being able to move and now standing ready to walk, all thanks to the staff members who are supporting and encouraging him to learn new skills. We recently had his first Parents Evening, where we had the chance to chat with his key worker about his development and address any concerns if we had any. His key worker truly knows him so well, and it was evident after our phone call. The nursery manager has been easy to communicate with and truly runs a great outstanding team behind her. I highly recommend buttercups!!!
Reply from Samantha Renshaw, Manager at Buttercups at ChalfontThank you so much for taking the time to share such a lovely review. We are absolutely delighted to hear about your son's journey in the Orangery class and how positively his time at Buttercups has been so far.

It's wonderful to know that his settling-in period felt smooth and that our team's communication helped make that transition reassuring for you as a family. Seeing his development - from those early months to now standing and ready to walk - is incredibly rewarding, and we're so proud to be able to support and encourage him every step of the way.

We're also really pleased you enjoyed your first Parents' Evening and felt confident in the care and understanding his key worker has for him. Building strong relationships with both children and families is at the heart of what we do.

Your kind words about our team mean a great deal to us. Thank you again for your recommendation and trust - it's a privilege to be part of your son's early learning journey.

We have had both our girls come through the nursery and so experienced every room. We think the rooms are all great for the children of each age and have remained impressed by the staff every day and at every level. Retention is extremely good which shows how well the staff must be treated by management
and their care and attention to detail is reassuring every day. We particularly liked the outside spaces for the middle and older kids whilst appreciating the well designed and laid out building and outside space for the smaller children which brings them calm and fun all at once. It dawned on me that I'll soon no longer need to come to collect my daughters as they'll both be at school soon and I know I'll miss seeing the staff and having chats with them at the gate. Maybe time for a third I guess?
Reply from Samantha Renshaw, Manager at Buttercups at ChalfontThank you so much for taking the time to share such a thoughtful and generous review. It truly means a lot to hear that both of your daughters have enjoyed their time with us across all the rooms, and that you've felt consistently impressed by our team. Your kind words about staff retention, care, and attention to detail are especially appreciated, as creating a supportive environment for both children and staff is something we value deeply.
We're also delighted that you've noticed and enjoyed the design of our indoor and outdoor spaces, and how they support calm, fun, and age-appropriate learning. Knowing that you'll miss the daily chats at the gate really touches us - we'll miss seeing you too as your child moves on to their next adventure at school.
Thank you again for being such a wonderful part of our nursery community and our door is always open should that "third" come along!

Our son has been attending Buttercups since he was 22 months old, starting off in The Lodge and moving to The Pavilion shortly before he turned 3 years old. We have seen some wonderful behaviours develop in him; he is confident, smart, and kind and we attribute these to a combination of his home environment
along with the fantastic care provided by the team at Buttercups. The teachers there are great and very caring, Sam is wonderful, and we believe that the daily activities and nutritious menu give the children at Buttercups lots of stimulation and energy. We acknowledge that Buttercups is one of the more expensive nurseries, but we firmly believe that the quality of education and experience is excellent so, in essence, you are definitely getting great value for the cost. Thank you, Buttercups team - we know that we'll all be sad to leave you this summer!
Reply from Samantha Renshaw, Manager at Buttercups at ChalfontThank you so much for your incredibly kind and thoughtful review. It truly means the world to the whole Buttercups team to hear how positively your son's time with us has shaped his confidence, kindness, and love of learning. Watching him grow from his early days in The Lodge to thriving in The Pavilion has been an absolute joy for our team.
Your lovely words about our teachers, our daily activities, and our menu are deeply appreciated and a real reflection of the care and dedication our staff bring every day. We are so grateful for the trust you have placed in us during such an important stage of your son's development.
While we know it will be very hard to say goodbye this summer, we are so proud to have been part of your family's journey and will always look back on it with fond memories. Thank you again for being such a valued part of the Buttercups community - we will miss you all very much and wish your son every happiness in his next adventure.

Overall great place to send my daughter. She seems to be enjoying it. Staff are great and the daily updates at pick up and via the emails are very helpful. A few focus areas though; more insight on development and info on daily activities taken place. Price is also a bit steep.
Reply from Samantha Renshaw, Manager at Buttercups at ChalfontThank you very much for taking the time to share your feedback. We're delighted to hear that your daughter is enjoying her time with us and that you've found our staff and daily updates helpful - that really means a lot to the team.
We truly appreciate your constructive comments around development updates and daily activities. Supporting each child's development and keeping parents well informed is very important to us. As part of this, we carry out formal parent reviews on a termly basis, where we discuss children's progress and next steps in detail. In addition, we will be organising a parent consultation for all Baby Room parents very soon, which will give a further opportunity to talk through development, routines and activities in more depth.
We also understand your comments regarding pricing and appreciate you sharing this openly. We continually review our fees to ensure they reflect the quality of care, resources and support we provide, while remaining as fair as possible.

I would like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to everybody who has worked in the Orangery and supported our daughter. She loves nursery; we are so glad that we picked Buttercups and she has grown so much in confidence and personality in the time she has been with you.
The staff have
been fantastic and caring not only to our daughter but also to us as we navigate parenthood and nursery for the first time. There has never been anything that has been too much trouble and we have appreciated all the questions being answered and the time that has been spent with us. We also love the daily updates and find the information really useful.

Both of my children attended buttercups and it was one of those places that you call 'home away from home'. My kids loved it there and have come so far because of the wonderful staff. There are very few people I'd trust with my children and Buttercups staff are part of that- special mentions go out
to a member of staff in the Orangery, a member of staff in the Lodge, two members of staff in the Pavillion. The manager of the nursery was also always ready to listen to us no matter how small our suggestion or issue, nothing was too small.
Another special mention goes to the wonderful chef - always accommodating every dietary restriction and encouraging new tastes. I was so touched that the nursery kept the parents actively involved in menu and other development. The children would be able to experience all the tastes of the world as every meal took on suggestions from parents!
This really is a setting that takes everything you say into consideration. I could not recommend Buttercups enough!

The teachers did an amazing job from start to finish throughout the day.. The food was good. The graduation take home packs were really cute and thoughtful.
The only criticism was the lack of shade on such a hot day.

Buttercups Chalfont Park nursery, is the most amazing nursery with not only an amazing group of dedicated and caring teachers but also brilliant facilities and a wonderful group of children and parents.
Every day is different and focussed on learning through play, we knew we had found somewhere special
with our first virtual tour and in person meet up but you have all exceeded our expectation's.
As our first leaves for school we know she is leaving with the best start to her education and will be very sad to say goodbye to her Buttercups family.
Thank you for everything you do every day - nothing short of outstanding across the board.

We as a family absolutely love Buttercups at Chalfont! Due to my work I had to put my little boy in from 7 months old and had never left him before . The staff in the orangery made me feel so at ease when he started his settling sessions ! He has never been upset going to nursery and he gets so excited
going and has the best time and he adores the food. As a mum this is everything to me ! Two ladies are very much his favourites and they are truly wonderful and caring ! I made the best decision choosing Buttercups ! THANKYOU to all the staff for making my life easier to work knowing how well looked after he is .

Our son came to the nursery after having been at one previously for two years. At Buttercups, we saw a totally new side of him emerge. He gained independence, wonderful friends and came home being able to read and write! He's learnt football, swimming and yoga, among other skills. Montessori is excellent!
Teaching him focus and improving his numeracy and literacy. Excellent all-round experience.

Beyond delighted with experience my son has had over 3 years with Buttercups. The Montessori curriculum has done wonders for his development, covering exciting topics like nature, solar system, numbers and practical life skills. His ability to communicate and natural curiosity have flourished in this
environment. The forest school has been a true delight - my son loves exploring the outdoors and the mud kitchen has been a liberating experience. Every staff member is genuinely caring and deeply invested in the children's development. Overall, Buttercups offered inspiring, intentional and well rounded experience in the critical first years of my son's life.
I couldn't recommend it more highly!

I cannot speak more highly of the staff at Buttercups Chalfont. They have gone above and beyond to ensure that our son has settled in and is happy. Every member of staff is always smiling, friendly, and kind - and it is so clear that our son loves them! The settling-in period was smooth and stress-free
due to the regular updates that we would get throughout the day. The staff have always accommodated any particular requirements/routine that we have requested. The nursery is always clean and tidy, and it seems that our son really enjoys the food there! We truly feel that we have made the best decision by sending our son to Buttercups Chalfont.

My son absolutely loves going to nursery, when we pick him up he is beaming and has lots to tell me. Getting to see every day what activities he's been doing is a real bonus. The staff have really been helpful with potty training, he eats a huge range of food since going as well. I love the relationships
he has with the staff, I know he feels safe with his key workers and settles with them easily if upset. He has also made some lovely friendships with other children.

The staff are consistently friendly, attentive and show their love and care for him. The team have been really helpful in working with us as parents
around, for example, managing sleeping and eating patterns. The communication from the nursery has been clear and helpful - the daily updates, with photos and videos, are incredible. Helping create memories for us and our son. Highly recommended.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.928)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.928) out of 10 for Buttercups at Chalfont is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 22 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.928 for Buttercups at Chalfont is calculated as follows: ( (247 Excellents x 5) + (15 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 264 Ratings = 4.928
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Buttercups at Chalfont is based on 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 70 number of registered child places is 14, which has been reached with 22 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
