Buttercups Chalfont Park is set across three historic buildings in beautiful parkland. The newly refurbished Orangery is the home of the under 2s, with lots of space to play, a separate sleep room and a garden to themselves. Also newly refurbished, the Lodge houses 2-3 year olds who have access to two garden areas. Finally, the preschool children enjoy the Pavilion, a purpose-built building filled with light. The Pavilion has a dedicated Montessori area and opens onto a fantastic outdoor space. The preschool children also enjoy regular Forest School sessions and swimming lessons at a nearby school.

At the nursery there is a focus on "learning through play", promoting children's natural sense of curiosity, independence and critical thinking skills. There is also emphasis on a range of teaching approaches, including Montessori and HighScope.

The team of experienced practitioners are well supported throughout their roles, allowing them to be the best educators they can be. This is achieved through regular in-house training programmes and external courses.

Please get in touch with the team if you'd like to learn more about the nursery.

We really appreciate how hard the staff work to nurture and care for the children. Buttercups are attentive to our son’s individual needs and are very supportive to encourage his personal development. They offer a fantastic variety of activities including Montessori education, which was very important
to us when selecting a nursery. He always leaves at the end of the day with a big smile on his face, clearly having had a wonderful day.

The staff at Buttercups at Chalfont have been nothing but exceptional - always friendly, always smiling, and so positive. They truly go the extra mile to accommodate for our son's needs and routine. Our son has recently started at the nursery and we were so grateful to each of the staff for making the
settling in process so stress-free and easy, both for us and for our son. They have given us great real-time feedback (including calls to let us know how he is getting on during the day), and the updates at the end of each day are fantastic. We get an email every evening letting us know what activities the children have been involved in alongside some photos, which we thoroughly enjoy looking at. Our son settled in after only a week and now looks forward to going to nursery and playing with all the staff and other children.
Reply from Samantha Renshaw, Manager at Buttercups at ChalfontThank you so much for your review and kind feedback. It is our pleasure to nurture and enrich your child's education and care needs.

Staff are attentive, nurturing and loving. All three of my children love nursery - it is full of fun, a good range of activities and particularly impressed with the teaching in preschool, focusing on letter formation and phonics.

We are so pleased we decided to send our daughters to Buttercups at Chalfont Day Nursery. They are so happy and can't wait to arrive in the morning and meet their friends and teachers.
I was surprised how much she has learned. She is the most advanced child at her next school. She is able to write
her name, do maths, list the planets and continents. Buttercups have installed a love for learning. We are very appreciative.

Both of my daughters attended this nursery from around the time they were one until they went to school. The younger one left last autumn. I would highly recommend Buttercups - both of my girls have developed very well and become much more confident as a result of their time spent there. Thank you to
all of the staff there.

Buttercups Chalfont has been amazing for us and we would highly recommend the nursery! All of the staff members are highly motivated, enthusiastic and dedicated, creating a happy and caring environment for the children in their care. The nursery adopts a very personalised approach for our two children,
definitely not a 'one size fits all approach' which is enormously refreshing and shows their level of commitment and attention to each child's needs.

I felt happy and confident leaving my 12-month-old in the care of the team at Buttercups at Chalfont Park. The settling process was over 4 days, and by day 3 she went in without any tears. She has only been there 4 weeks and the progress she has made is remarkable, she has gone from baby to toddler!
The feedback you receive from the team on your child's day is spot on. The setting is clean, tidy, and modern, the teachers set up engaging activities daily, and always mark festivals and international occasions with the children. They take care of any specific needs your child has, and address everything with a genuine caring attitude.

I cannot recommend this nursery enough. It's so welcoming and friendly and I feel really lucky that we are part of the Buttercups family. My daughter settled in quickly due to the fantastic staff who truly care about each individual child. At 16 months old she confidently strolls in by herself without
a backwards glance and that's because it's a home-from-home. At pick-up, I always receive an anecdote about her day and initially they see which member of staff your child warms to before they assign her key worker. It's things like this that prove they really are concerned with your child's happiness and well-being. Having seen my son go through the entire nursery, I can say that each room provides the same first-class care. The activities are engaging and varied and my son has learnt so much. He has been challenged where appropriate and nurtured at the same time. The two-way communication is outstanding. His development truly has been a partnership between us and the staff at Buttercups.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.928)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.928) out of 10 for Buttercups at Chalfont is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 22 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.928 for Buttercups at Chalfont is calculated as follows: ( (247 Excellents x 5) + (15 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 264 Ratings = 4.928
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Buttercups at Chalfont is based on 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 70 number of registered child places is 14, which has been reached with 22 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
