WHAT WE ARE LEARNING - WEEK COMMENCING 4TH MAY 2026

Clever Cats & Clever Kittens Next week the Clever Cats and Clever Kittens will be learning about soldiers and how they are there to protect people. We will also be looking at why it is also important to celebrate the end of wars, which is why we are celebrating VE Day.   The Clever Cats will be writing invitations to their parents to attend the afternoon tea, as part of their writing with a focus. They will also be using their maths skills to measure ingredients for making scones. The Clever Kittens will help to make sandwiches cutting them into different shapes. Everyone will be making a medal and taking part in some marching songs.

Ladybirds Next week in the Ladybird Room, we will be introducing VE Day, throwing a party whilst creating crafts to take home which supports our creativity and fine motor skills. We will also learn the importance of VE Day through talking about the fight ending and everyone being safe again, this will help us see how important it is to be kind and caring. This benefits the understanding of using our sense of belonging, understanding feelings, building relationships, confidence and participation.

Butterflies Next week in the Baby Room, we will be celebrating VE Day with a range of sensory activities. We will explore red, white, and blue colours through creative play, including painting and soft materials. We will introduce simple flag making getting ready for our garden party.
