At Maggie’s the team believe that every child deserves a nurturing and stimulating environment where they can play, grow, learn, and thrive. Children should spend as much time as possible in the great outdoors being nurtured with nature, feeling free to run and explore vibrant, natural spaces. That’s why at Maggie’s they seize every opportunity to be outside, with children frequently enjoying the forest school, alfresco dining and outdoor sleeping.

Over the past 5 years, Maggie’s @ Oakwood has evolved to become one of the UK’s leading nurseries. Formerly part of Children 1st Day Nurseries, and created by Children 1st’s founder Margaret Mason OBE, the nursery now exists to provide children with an unparalleled nursery experience in an award-winning environment.

From thoughtfully designed playrooms to the enriching, award winning outdoor play areas and forest school, every aspect of the nursery is crafted to inspire curiosity and foster a love of learning. They are committed to creating a safe, supportive, and joyful space where children can explore their interests and develop their unique talents, preparing them for a bright and successful future.

Kindness is one of their core values, they strive to foster an atmosphere of empathy, respect, and inclusivity, where every child learns the importance of kindness and compassion towards themselves and others.

The team would love to meet you and your little one so that you can experience the setting.

Our daughter has benefitted greatly from her time at nursery. She has grown in confidence and social skills, her language skills have progressed very quickly and she loves to come home and tell stories about her day feeding the animals, playing with arts and crafts, reading stories and playing with
many toys. The ladies are very friendly and care greatly about the children. They are so positive about making sure they have a great time and learn new things, and nothing is too much trouble. They even have a big smile at 6pm collection and appear to love their roles. They complete all the diaries and the place is very well kept/clean. I am looking forward to my child continuing there until school starts as the facilities are excellent with plenty of activities indoor and outdoors especially. Thank you very much to all thr Maggies staff.

My daughter has been attending this nursery for 8 months now and I couldn't recommend them enough.
She took a while to settle but they worked with us to ensure she came to love it and now we drop her off and watch her run inside.
She has developed so much during her time here and we have found all
the staff to be great for both her and us.
Their menus are planned to be healthy but also allow our daughter to experience a variety of cuisines too.
The setting itself is beautiful and the bonus of the forest school makes this an incredibly exciting place and we look forward to watching our daughter continue to flourish under their care.

We couldn't be happier with Maggie's nursery and the incredible care our daughter receives there. From the very beginning, the team has created such a warm, nurturing and supportive environment that truly feels like a home away from home.
Our daughter absolutely loves going to nursery each day, which
says everything. Since starting at Maggie's, she has blossomed in confidence-not only in her learning at home but also in how she interacts with other children and adults. It's been amazing to see her grow and develop so positively.
The activities provided are always engaging, creative, and thoughtfully planned to support the children's development across all areas. It's clear how much effort and care goes into everything they do.
We feel so lucky to have found Maggie's nursery and are incredibly grateful for the dedication, kindness and professionalism of the whole team. We would highly recommend it to any parent looking for a nurturing and inspiring place for their chiIdren.

Our family cannot put into words how supportive and incredible the Maggies team have been with the care of our 2 children. We have a child in babies and a child in early years.
Nothing is ever too much for them, they go above and beyond to care for our children and us as a family. The care and passion
they show is very evident as soon as you walk through the door. Every staff member is approachable and keen to help.
We are so thankful that we found Maggies, there certainly isn't a better nursery setting out there for your children to attend. We will be forever grateful that they are giving our children the best start in their lives that we could wish for.
Thank you for everything.

We as parents are so happy with Maggie's and our son just loves attending 3 days a week. The staff are so nurturing and helpful, the outdoor space is just brilliant and the wide range of activities and learning they offer is 10/10. My son eats so well, is able to take part in so many different activities
and events and always comes home smiling wanting to tell us about his day. Would highly recommend for an early years setting. Many thanks for all the staff for their hard work and dedication.

Excellent Nursery, my daughter absolutely thrives here and it made the transition of her starting nursery very easy knowing she was in such a wonderful place.
After viewing other nursery's in the area I questioned if I wanted my daughter to attend or if I could provide more for her at home. When we
found Maggies there was no doubt that we wanted her to spend her early years here. The building is like a wonderland for kids and I even questioned about potentially trying to get a job there I loved the feeling so much. The outside areas and access to animals is fantastic, I love receiving observations and pictures of what she gets up to whilst there, seeing her feed the goats and stroking rabbits. The staff are really friendly and I like the community events. Couldn't recommend this Nursery enough.

We're delighted to hear how confidently your daughter has settled in and how positive her experience has been. We feel incredibly lucky that our daughter is able to attend Maggie's. The staff are incredibly caring and responsive, and we feel reassured in the knowledge that so much close attention is paid to providing all the children with stimulating and enriching activities that will spur them on in their development.
We get a lovely detailed hand written account of our daughter's day as well as a verbal handover at pick up. The nursery has a lovely family feel, and the pastoral care is second to none. We cannot imagine our daughter attending any other nursery.

A top tier childcare provider! Staff are all very friendly and supportive, feedback is always done with a smile and their genuine concern and attitude for the kids and their parents is heartwarming.

Our kids have loved the environments created and love to go everyday - even on weekends when the

nursery is closed!

The facilities are amazing with the forest school and animals, the rooms are well stocked with educational toys and the activities are focused on letting our children express themselves whilst also following a great curriculum.

Cannot recommend this nursery more, it's a wonderful place run by wonderful people!

Such a fabulous nursery, I don't have a bad word to say! The staff are amazing, and the facilities are second to none. I almost feel like calling it just a 'nursery' doesn't do it justice. Maggie's is so much more than that. I'm so happy that both my children have attended.

We couldn't have asked for a better start for our children. Both started at 9 months old and from day one we felt completely at ease. The staff are genuinely caring and really get to know each child, which shows in how confident and happy our two are. The facilities are incredible and the outdoor space
is like no other. The children have real freedom to choose where they play and what they do. Our daughter is now about to start school and it feels emotional as the nursery has been such a big part of her early years. The only slight concern is that occasionally people without a fob can be let in by others, which can feel worrying. Overall, we've absolutely loved it from the start and our children have thrived here
Reply from Laura Wildin, Centre Director at Maggie's NurseryThank you for your kind words, it really does mean a lot to all of us. We're so pleased to hear how happy and confident your children have been, and it's been a real privilege to be part of your family's journey from those early days through to starting school. We know how emotional this stage can feel and we're very proud to have played a small part in your daughter's early years.

Thank you as well for raising your concern about access to the building. Following our conversation, we've reminded all parents that they must not let anyone else into the nursery, even if they recognise them, as keeping children safe is a shared responsibility. We've also made sure the front desk is staffed at all times so everyone coming into the building is properly welcomed and checked in.

Thank you again for your support and for trusting us with your children's care. We'll really miss your daughter and wish her all the very best as she starts school.

Maggie's @ Oakwood is simply outstanding. I cannot praise all the staff enough, they are all so kind, caring and have a visible love for working with babies and children.
My daughter is extremely happy and settled at Nursery. The staff were all so patient and caring with her settling into new rooms
throughout her nursery journey.
The nursery itself and grounds are exceptional, the activities they provide the children with are second to none. They enable the children to learn and have fun at the same time. The experiences my daughter has at nursery are just the best and she comes running out with a smile on her face every day and tells me she's had a good day.
As a parent, I have never felt anxious leaving my daughter with Maggie's, I know she is safe, well cared for and happy. The communication is excellent.

Our child has been attending Jemima Puddle Ducks (Baby Room) for the last 9 months. Every day she comes home a more confident, active and engaging young person. With my wife's recent diagnosis of a brain tumour the staff has just been incredible with all the support they have given us as a family -
going out of their way throughout treatment to provide us with extra support - from kind words when we needed it most to supporting me wife with play with our child in a supported environment. They have just been incredible in our hour of need. The staff at Maggie's also helped us when our child developed an allergy to milk at a young age with fantastic approaches to help with her food and were so quick to adapt at day to day nursery with food changes. They really are the best nursery there is!

Our daughter has been attending this nursery since she was one year old, and we've watched her grow more confident and independent with each passing year. We have no doubt that much of this is thanks to the care and support she has received at nursery.
With each room transition-when we expected tears-our
child has only loved it more. This past year, especially with the Early Years team, she has thrived. Exploring the forest and enjoying all the outdoor facilities has been an amazing experience for her.
We never have any sad drop-offs, as she absolutely loves all the staff at Maggie's. It means so much to us as parents that every member of staff knows and recognises my child, making us feel reassured that she is in safe and loving hands.
Although my child will be sad to leave nursery, she'll be back for all the summer fun days-and she'll be so excited when her baby sister begins her journey here too!

(1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 160 number of registered child places is 32, which has been reached with 38 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
