Over the past 5 years, Maggie’s @ Oakwood has evolved to become one of the UK’s leading nurseries. Formerly part of Children 1st Day Nurseries, and created by Children 1st’s founder Margaret Mason OBE, the nursery now exists to provide children with an unparalleled nursery experience in an award-winning environment.

Both of my boys attend Maggie's. They are so happy and so eager to arrive every morning. The eldest gets a real variety of activities from forest school to the creative and cookery rooms. The youngest is so confident, he just walks into the room and doesn't look back!

We've been fortunate to have both our girls attend Maggie's. We could not praise the staff enough. The facilities are incredible, inside areas have wonderful equipment and areas set out to help imaginative play. Outside there are areas for play, learning, cooking, fire pits, a stream for the ducks to
play in, and goats and rabbits. It sounds made up but this really is incredible.
More than the facilities are the staff here. They are amazing. The care and support they show is amazing. They feel like true friends to our girls. They come home with facts about Space and the World and are just enthusiastic and excited about having learned so much. They make this place amazing. It feels like they have the right leadership in place to keep this place amazing.
We would wholeheartedly recommend this nursery.

This nursery has been brilliant from the first moment we were shown around to the current date where our daughter is 2 and a half years old and still loving this amazing nursery. Our daughter loves the staff, the activities, the food, the environment and everything about this nursery.
The nursery has
brilliant facilities, a forest school and lots of animals. Our daughter really enjoys the outside areas and always tells us how much she enjoys her day.
The staff are fantastic, they care so much and always appear knowledgeable and helpful. This is echoed in the management too who have always been great at communicating and answering any questions we have.
Christmas and summer events which are put on are always well attended and great fun for all the family.
Communication from the nursery through newsletters and parent admin is always useful too.
We couldn’t be happier with the service provided by Children 1st @ Oakwood and would thoroughly recommend this nursery!

My 2 girls attend the nursery 2 days a week and they love it and always enjoy going. The facilities available to them are amazing and the setting is beautiful. The staff are outstanding, lovely and professional and they work so hard every day.

When my son started nursery he was upset and took time to adjust but the staff and management were very supportive and understanding and it was reassuring to offer phone calls to check-in. The nursery always looks clean and well-kept.
When picking my son up he is always clean and looks well looked
after.
The staff are very enthusiastic about the children and engage with them.
The management has always been helpful too.
I haven't had any issues but I feel if I did I would be listened to.

My son has been with the nursery for three years now and he's loved every moment of it. Moving through all the rooms, he has felt looked after and always has fun at nursery. He also has possible ASD (autism) spotted by me and nursery, the nursery has been so overwhelmingly supportive of him and me.
I'm a single mum to him and been through a lot, both us, the nursery has been the biggest support for me and him! I am the only parent to him. We can't thank them enough. The staff are such a credit, every single one of them. They're all so bubbly, attentive, caring, loving and always smiling.
I was nervous with my son's nativity however they put all support in place for him, making sure he felt comfortable and he did amazing! My son is able to completely be his confident, loud self around them because he is so comfortable in this environment.
Definitely a five-star nursery.

Staff are helpful and happy to chat and advise on drop-off and collection.
My child has a great time when there and chats about what they have done that day.
My child does go in upset sometimes but the staff are brilliant at comforting my child and help distract and take their mind off me going.
Excellent
they go outside and explore, my child loves being outside as well.
The security is brilliant, makes you feel safe to leave them there as well.

Over the last few months, our child has needed a lot of medication and changes and updates to their medical information. The information has been shared with all room staff and changed/updated every time when it has been needed, with no issues or fuss.
Our child loves nursery and is always happy to
arrive and this is due to the amazing staff you have, who always make my little one feel special and loved. Listening to staff talk about my child is great as it is clear they know them and have a lovely relationship with them, where my child feels safe, loved and cherished. Two members of staff, in particular, are incredible and have gone the extra mile to support our little one and are, as a family, always there to listen and to give advice and support where needed. Thank you!

Recommend Children 1st to all my friends and family. The learning environment is so fun and inviting to the children, my little boy regularly comes home telling me what he has been doing. He especially loves the outdoor play, including the forest school. He goes into nursery with the biggest smile and
is excited for his mornings there. Every room he has been in he has loved and his key workers have been great with him, updating us regularly and offering support when we have needed it (potty training). The staff are all so lovely!
We love it that much there that we booked our second child in and secured a place before she was born.

I feel very settled when I drop our daughter off here at the nursery. She is happy to attend and they communicate extremely well with us. It's a beautiful nursery with excellent and caring staff and I couldn't recommend it any higher than what I have. I only wish I had sent my other child here a few
years ago.

Children 1st @ Oakwood is incredible. Both my children have an absolutely amazing day every time they are there. The facilities this nursery has are unbeatable! The outdoor space gives the children fantastic learning opportunities and the freedom to explore. Mealtimes are also a hit with my children.
My toddler comes home every day and has always eaten everything - even things she won’t eat at home. Her table manners and her vocabulary skills are very advanced for her age, and I truly believe this is down to this nursery.
My only request is on special occasions it would be nice to have more personal items made by the children e.g Christmas, Mother’s/Father’s Day cards etc. They do a lot of large-scale painting and activities so don’t often get the chance to bring items home that they’ve been working on.
Overall, all the staff from the trainees to management are so helpful and supportive and I honestly cannot recommend this nursery enough!

Great nursery for my daughter, she is autistic and non-verbal and they are very supportive and patient with her, the outdoor area is absolutely amazing! They always give you a full description of her day, what she’s been up to and what she’s eaten.

Amazing place, my daughter loves going every day, the outside areas are fantastic and all the staff are lovely.

My 14-month-old is always so excited when we drop him off. With 2 acres of outdoor space, a little homestead & new facilities, we feel so lucky to have gained a full-time space for him last year, at Children 1st.
Nursery fees can be so expensive, but the quality of service & care received, is well
worth it, knowing my little one is happy & thriving there.
The staff are fantastic. Warm, welcoming, polite & approachable. I cannot recommend them enough. The communication between us is fantastic too.
Keep winning those awards, Children 1st!

My daughter has been at Children 1st since she was 9 months old and has really come on leaps and bounds since attending. The staff are all very friendly and highly trained and my daughter seems to come home learning something new every time she attends. The facilities are great and very secure and you
get lots of information about their day when I pick my child up. Would highly recommend this nursery.

My son is eager to attend nursery and runs in happily daily. He talks about all the various activities he gets to do throughout the week which is impressive. He builds key skills such as phonics, fire safety in the forest and knife skills by cutting his own food. Accidents are recorded appropriately
and staff are professional and understanding of you as a parent entrusting them with your children.

I cannot recommend Children’s 1st enough, my son has been attending for just over 2 years now and I’m so happy with how he’s cared for and the bonds he’s created with the staff. He’s never upset or reluctant to go in, he looks forward to it!
The facilities are amazing, which makes me feel less guilty
for having to leave him while I work since I know he’s genuinely having so much fun learning and exploring.

Honestly cannot fault the nursery at all, since my child has been going she has come on leaps and bounds. I’ve highly recommended the nursery to all my friends who have kids in the nursery already or are pregnant and they agree after viewing the nursery no other nursery even compares!

Children 1st @ Oakwood is an outstanding nursery, our daughter is thriving here and often declares “I love nursery”. The nursery catered to our daughter’s milk intolerance which has now overcome. The staff are friendly and there are plenty of activities for the children. The forestry with all the animals
is unparalleled when it comes to what other nurseries are offering in the area. I also like the events that the nursery put on which gives parents the opportunity to visit and speak with staff.

Hello, my name is Laura and I am the Centre Director here at Maggie's @ Oakwood.


I had previously worked with Children 1st Day Nurseries for many years and was manager of the nursery when it was part of Children 1st. I am delighted to be working at Maggie's.


My team and I are committed to delivering exceptional childcare within our award-winning environment whilst supporting the local community through the Margaret Mason OBE Trust.


I am mum to two children (Alfie and Willow) and I am proud to be a part of such a lovely organisation that is focused on supporting children and their families.
