I couldn't be happier that my daughter chose this nursery for my 1yr old grandson. As a young single mum living at home, the support she has had from the High Wycombe team has been immense. From helping her untangle the funding forms, to tips on sleep, weaning and eating, plus the daily detailed updates
on his activities, learning and enjoyment, all of it has helped her grow in confidence as a young mum, boosting her self esteem as a complete equal alongside all the other parents.
My grandson is becoming a happy, confident and popular little boy who adores his key worker and he is clearly thriving in such a warm and stimulating setting.
Thank you all of you x

We have been so happy with the care provided by the team at Hungry Caterpillars. They are so engaged - every day there are new and creative learning experiences. They are so thoughtful, supporting the children to make little gifts for holidays and events, that also allows their creativity to flourish.
Our little boy happily goes off to nursery to play with his friends, he loves spending time outside and with all of the toys inside. He knows he can always go to one of the team if he needs a cuddle, too! We miss him when he is at nursery but it is reassuring to know he is still well cared for, by a team who know him, care about his interests and teach him new things every day.
Reply from Daisy Sanders, Marketing at Hungry Caterpillar Day Nursery - High WycombeThank you for your lovely feedback! I haven't seen any improvement in my child since joining nursery. The issue is that my child is more advanced and has already learned many things ahead of time. Instead of challenging and encouraging further progress, the nursery strictly follows the curriculum, which has led to boredom. As a result,
my child has lost interest and now just plays with toys, before he was interested in learning, reading and exploring. I believe this nursery might be suitable for an average child. I've noticed that children who attend this nursery tend to lose confidence. Instead of gaining new skills, my child has picked up phrases like "What the hell!", "What's your problem!", and even swear words. This is extremely disappointing. While I can't place all the blame on the nursery, I believe that some of the responsibility lies with other parents who are not correcting their children properly and nursery should address it with their parents when they hear it/see it.

Hungry Caterpillars has been an amazing experience for both our daughter and ourselves as parents. They've helped us navigate our daughter's development (and parenthood) as she's grown - she started attending at 10 months and now at nearly 20 months she's just so confident! As first time parents, the
team and key workers there have been so supportive and we're so grateful to have such an amazing nursery close by. Her meals always sound amazing and the management team are so welcoming in the mornings at drop-off. The outside area is full of learning activities and games, I just wish there were more green spaces.
Reply from Daisy Sanders, Marketing at Hungry Caterpillar Day Nursery - High WycombeThank you for your wonderful review! We're so glad to hear that your daughter has grown in confidence and that our team has been able to support you on your parenting journey. We truly appreciate your kind words and feedback, and we'll continue striving to create the best environment for her!

Both my children are happy and learning so much at Hungry Caterpillar High Wycombe. The staff are caring and attentive and have supported our family brilliantly. They do go the extra mile.
I was impressed with the nursery when we looked round 2 years ago and I still am now and I have recommended it
to friends. When my children have needed some extra support it's been provided and there are many team members who have been there since we joined so I feel there is continuity. I like that the team know my children well and have been with them for a good chunk of time. It seems like a home from home for them.
The food menus are interesting and balanced, there is a brilliant range of activities and learning opportunities happening and there are events throughout the year where parents and grandparents can get involved too.

I would like to nominate a member of staff, in particular, she has consistently supported us with our granddaughter who hasn’t had an easy time and finds social and emotional situations quite scary at times. She has always made sure my granddaughter is as comfortable as possible. There have been many
obstacles we have had to overcome with our granddaughter and this member of staff has been there every step of the way. Nothing is ever too much trouble and we know we can contact her about anything. Our granddaughter has a close bond with her and this has helped her grow in confidence, has helped with her speech and language and with her food issues. She has remained a constant in our granddaughter’s nursery journey and is now assisting us with transitioning to school. She deserves to be mentioned for all the help she has given us over the two-plus years that our granddaughter has attended the nursery.
She is an asset to the nursery and she makes sure all staff are on board with our granddaughter and they understand her issues and difficulties. Thank you.

My son started in October and his progression has been amazing.
It was a long journey finding the right nursery for him and where I had peace of mind.
On my first visit, I knew this would be my choice.
The staff are lovely, I have no problem raising any issues if any, very happy with my choice and
would recommend to anyone.

I moved my child from another nursery, this in itself made me very anxious. But the team at Hungry Caterpillar Day Nursery could not have made my journey any better. They offered me flexible settles and really took the time to get to know my child and his needs.
The communication we get is brilliant,
we get regular updates on an app about their day and development and I receive regular observations that clearly show how well they know my child.
The team are all so passionate and friendly, they clearly love working there.
The environments are clean, beautifully designed and well-resourced.
My child’s key person is fabulous! She has made my child’s transition so easy and I can go off to work knowing he is in the best hands!
The management team are always so helpful and accommodating and are always available to talk to.

Our daughter loves going to nursery, she is a busy little girl and enjoys all the activities. She loves playing outside in the garden and dancing to the songs.
Everyone welcomes her as she enters the nursery, a very friendly environment.
We also have great communication with the nursery staff.
She
eats much better now and we’ve seen an improvement at home.
She’s also grown in confidence and starting to talk which is great! We love this nursery and have recommended it to all our friends with little ones.

Absolutely no complaints whatsoever about this nursery. Our little girl loves it here. All of the team are very personable, and you can tell they love children, which isn't always obvious in some nurseries. They keep you updated every day on how the day has been, and you also get a weekly summary. Couldn't
recommend the nursery enough; they are brilliant!

Both my kids have loved being at Hungry Caterpillars. The staff are amazing and always so warm and caring. The activities they design for the kids are imaginative and varied. My son loved the Spanish lessons and weekly sports lessons. When he graduated from nursery before starting school, I felt sad
he was leaving such a brilliant environment but the experiences he had there have given him a head start at school. My daughter has been at home there since day 1 and loves playing with her friends and all the activities. We love the family feel and, having had at least one child there for the last 4 years, we’ve never had any concerns or come across a staff member that wasn’t lovely!

I'm so glad we chose Hungry Caterpillar Day Nursery for our two boys! They love going to nursery and have such a lovely relationship with their key carers but what's also lovely is that all the other nursery teachers know them just as well!
The handovers at pick-up are so detailed we know exactly
what they have been doing each day - makes us worry less! The activities they put on are great, they even had the local fire brigade come in and talk about the dangers of fire and also let them have a go with the water hose - My son's best day ever!
My son is due to start school in September and they have done such a good job prepping him (and us) for the big move! Loves his jolly phonics and always mentions how his key carer has shown him all the actions to the song too!
My other son has just thrived since he started, loves the messy play activities that are put on and is really coming along with his speech - it's amazing!
The manger and the team are doing such a great job!

I am pleased to say that my experience with the Hungry Caterpillar Day Nursery in High Wycombe has been fantastic. The staff are incredibly friendly and professional and they genuinely care about the children they work with. I have been very impressed with the level of care and attention my daughter
has received while attending this nursery.
The facilities are top-notch, with bright, spacious classrooms that are well-equipped with a variety of toys and learning resources. The outdoor play area is also excellent, with plenty of space for the children to run around and play, as well as a variety of playground equipment to keep them entertained.
The staff do an excellent job of engaging the children in a range of activities that are both fun and educational. My daughter has learned so much since starting at this nursery and I am thrilled with the progress she has made. Overall, I would highly recommend the Hungry Caterpillar nursery to any parent.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.870)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.870) out of 10 for Hungry Caterpillar Day Nursery - High Wycombe is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 25 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 24 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.870 for Hungry Caterpillar Day Nursery - High Wycombe is calculated as follows: ( (270 Excellents x 5) + (25 Goods x 4) + (2 Poors x 2) + (2 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 299 Ratings = 4.87
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Hungry Caterpillar Day Nursery - High Wycombe is based on 24 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 90 number of registered child places is 18, which has been reached with 24 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
