Hungry Caterpillar Day Nursery - High Wycombe offers an exciting learning environment for children.

The nursery cares for around 90 children from babies through to school age. Children are offered weekly Spanish classes where they learn new words through songs and group times and weekly music sessions exploring through music and movement across all three rooms.

Nursery is great, they utilise the app to notify you of what your child has eating on a daily basis and what they have been doing regularly. To improve, as I have previously suggested, would be to plan their month ahead and publish the events. The downside of the app is that the news events pop up in
chronological order so if you miss one then you need to go back through all posts to find what you need. There are things that pop up randomly like PJ day or bring a bear day, but if you don't mark the date straight away it can be difficult to find the info again.

My little boy has been at the nursery since he was as a year old. He settled in right away, through various nap transitions and room changes, to extended hours without any issues. He is always happy when I collect him and his development has really thrived. He went from nonverbal to now producing sentences
and has become a very outgoing, confident boy with a high interest in new learning opportunities. The team are all welcoming and lovely and I'm happy with the nursery setting as a whole. Definitely recommend.

I couldn't recommend this nursery highly enough. My son has been attending for the last 14 months and he loves it there. His development has come on so much since being at nursery, from speech to eating a variety of foods to his social skills.
The staff are friendly, professional and responsive to
any requests. They treat the whole family as important and takes an interest on how siblings who don't attend yet are getting on.
Having updates through the app has been brilliant to see what he has been up to during the day/week and reviews monthly of his development.
They also think of all the extra touches to celebrate different dates and events through the year.
I am so pleased we chose to send our son here.

It is just over a year since we moved to the area and needed a day nursery for our then 20 months old daughter.
Having visited other nurseries in the area, I connected quite quickly and comfortably with Hungry Caterpillar Day Nursery from the first day we visited. The staff were so helpful, getting
us onboarded and most importantly were willing to assist us in every way possible.
We have seen a tremendous all round growth in our daughter who is now 32 months. She loves going to nursery and always returns home happy. She has formed a strong bond with staff and has made many good friends too.
I rest assured that I can follow her progress throughout the day via the nursery app and can also get timely updates of how she's doing in other daily activities which also highlights her achievements and milestones. I find these updates very useful.
Hungry Caterpillar Day Nursery - High Wycombe has been a good choice for our daughter and I totally recommended it for anyone looking for a day nursery.

We couldn’t have chosen better nursery for our daughter. She’s being treated like a part of a family, the caregivers are very caring and affectionate with her. Every morning she’s very excited to go to nursery and she has developed so much since joining in September. I would highly recommend Hungry
Caterpillar Day Nursery to everyone.

My son attends full-time and absolutely loves nursery! The nursery rooms are clean, spacious, bright and the meals are nutritious. They provide daily updates in real time so you know exactly what is going on with your little one. They have fun and educational themed weeks for the kids and encourage
them to explore activities that are new to them. They provide detailed weekly reports and periodically keep you informed on your little ones milestones. My son has formed such a great bond with his key worker it gives me peace of mind and allows me to get on with my day without worrying.
I also have to commend the app used. You can do everything in one place - messages, view updates, photos, attendance and invoice admin, everything.
I am glad we went with Hungry Caterpillar High Wycombe but most importantly my son loves it there. Highly recommended!

Our son only started a couple of months ago but he already loves going there. He settled in fast, he's already excited in the mornings when we're leaving for the nursery. The staff is brilliant, really helpful and they know how to handle kids (sometimes better than we do).
They are well organized and
I love following him through the frequent updates in the app.
Highly recommended.

My son has been at Nursery since January 2020 and as soon as he started at the nursery developed so much. The staff are wonderful, give good handovers and my son loves his time at Nursery. I would recommend the nursery to others and feel safe leaving him there when I go to work. The app and pictures
sent to update on his days at Nursery are brilliant also.

My child loves the nursery teachers and her social skills have been developed a lot thanks to the teachers. Every morning when she sees the teachers she is so happy and smiling at them. It makes us to feel really good and comfortable with the nursery. They provide also various activities for children
which help them to gain various skills.
Also, they provide fresh organic food.

Our son has been at Hungry Caterpillars in High Wycombe through all of the rooms. We always feel well supported by the excellent staff. The app is superb and gives you a real insight into your child's day, we look forward to the pictures and videos. Feedback on his progress is regular and insightful
and we really do feel like the nursery supports us with his progress. We've seen him develop all kinds of skills and confidence and there's no doubt that the nursery environment has been brilliant for his development. We looked at a few others before choosing Hungry Caterpillars and made the decision at the time because it was brand new, purpose built and well equipped. I'm very pleased to advise that they really have maintained the facility to the highest of standards and it looks as good today as when it opened. Finally, the food menu is superb and our son always seems to enjoy whatever he's given.

We’re very pleased with the level of care our son has received with Hungry Caterpillars Day Nursery in High Wycombe. We, like most parents of ‘lockdown babies’, we’re concerned that he would struggle in the nursery environment but he’s settled in very quickly. He’s developed so much in the short time
he’s been at nursery and we know he’s getting the stimulation and variety of experience he needs. The staff offer great communication and we trust that the nursery provides a safe and happy environment.

My son has been attending the nursery since September. He took a little while to get settled and would cry going in every time. The staff were amazing and always reassured me as a first time mum it was hard for me. Now he goes running in and has the best time. They keep me updated through the day in
what he is doing and what he is eating etc. Would highly recommend this nursery to anyone else.

My daughter has been going to this nursery since last September. They have been absolutely fabulous with her as she has many allergies, which I worry about and the nursery were brilliant in handling any kind of care she may need, such as alternative food at tea time to suit her needs. The app is brilliant
as it updates you with what your child has been doing in their day and pictures of the children, which is a bonus so you can rest assure your child is having fun and is in the safest hands. During the pandemic I haven't taken my daughter to nursery which is a personal decision for me to make, I was surprised even during this time that they have had regular catch ups with us on the phone and video, to see how we are getting along. I would definitely recommend this nursery, the staff are brilliant and attentive.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.860)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.860) out of 10 for Hungry Caterpillar Day Nursery - High Wycombe is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 25 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 24 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.860 for Hungry Caterpillar Day Nursery - High Wycombe is calculated as follows: ( (268 Excellents x 5) + (26 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) + (2 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 299 Ratings = 4.86
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Hungry Caterpillar Day Nursery - High Wycombe is based on 24 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 90 number of registered child places is 18, which has been reached with 24 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
