Located in the heart of York, Little Green Rascals Minster Yard is committed to eco-conscious practices, proudly holding the distinction of being the first Little Green Rascals city nursery. The nursery offers exceptional care, enriched by unique learning opportunities for your child. One such experience is child-friendly cooking classes, helping to equip children with valuable skills and deeper knowledge of the cooking process.

The nursery offers the perfect setting for exciting adventures and explorations. Regular outings expose little ones to the wonders of the magnificent city - whether it's delving into history at one of the museums, savouring a sweet treat at Bettys, or feeding squirrels in the Museum Gardens, the children are always out and about, regardless of the weather.

Embracing the beauty of nature, the nursery practices Forest School in Minster Gardens. In addition, a range of optional extra-curricular activities are on offer, to enrich children's experiences. From science classes and yoga to drama, French and Spanish lessons and various sports classes, the aim is to provide a diverse array of opportunities for children’s growth and development.

The nursery spans across two buildings, each with two floors dedicated to different age groups. The four rooms within these buildings feature dedicated areas for messy play, soft play, small world exploration and reading, along with separate spaces for peaceful sleep. The private garden further enhances the learning environment, boasting a mud kitchen and a lush lawn area.

Our daughter started before she even turned six months and I was so nervous beforehand. The staff at Little Green Rascals couldn't be looking after her any better. She seems to love every minute and has formed an evidently close bond with her key person, who has been caring and attentive with her and
helpful and reassuring with us, as first-time parents. So glad we chose Little Green Rascals!

Our daughter loves it here. The staff are excellent and create a lovely atmosphere for the kids. We love that the kids get taken outdoors wherever possible and there is always a new activity for them to enjoy.


I can't comment on ICT facilities as our daughter is too young for that. However the app

we use is great and we get regular updates which we really appreciate.

What can I say except this is the most wonderful nursery! We'd had a bad experience at another place prior to here and what a difference it made when we made the move. Our daughter is absolutely thriving and we have such peace of mind that the care and attention she's getting is second to none. The
staff are all amazing, they really make the effort to get to you know you as a family and you can see they really care about what they do, they've always got big smiles on their faces and my daughter is in love with her key worker and her team. They always keep you up to date with all the fun things they are getting up to and I'm always jealous of the tasty menu - my daughter eats much better than I do! There is lots of outdoor time as well as a relaxing sleep room - I call it a 'the spa' for babies because that's how it feels. I couldn't be happier here and I wouldn't hesitate recommending to any parent looking for a fantastic environment for their little ones.

My daughter started at 6 months old and she is now 9 months old. I was a little wary about starting so young, sharing the weening responsibilities with the nursery and generally how she would be cared for. It has been the best thing for both her and us as parents! We have felt that she is so well looked
after and 'known' by the team, and her key person, has kept us informed well of how she's done each day. It's not the cheapest for sure, but my priority was her care, nutrition, proximity to our house and the city centre. It's been a real benefit having the support of nursery as first time parents - we've learned a lot and felt supported in a way I didn't expect. Thank you guys!

Our baby joined the Wiggly Worms group at Little Green Rascals Organic Day Nursery two months ago and has loved it from day one. There are so many activities for them to choose from - ours is particularly fond of the sand pit and water play. In this short time, they’ve also been on a few adventures
to local parks. The staff here are brilliant - both kind, welcoming, patient, understanding and helpful to parents and children alike. They’ve dealt with our baby's allergies really well and made us feel reassured that she’s in safe hands. Would absolutely recommend this nursery.

I’ve been involved with several nurseries over the years, as a mother then a granny. This one has impressed me more than any. The staff are sensitive, imaginative, attentive and truly caring. The facilities are good and well-used. The children love the food, the company, and the good balance between

I cannot thank the guys enough at Little Green Rascals 7 Minster Yard. They look after my little girl two days a week and the excitement my daughter has when arriving at the nursery, running in for breakfast, blowing kisses and waving at everyone shows just how much she enjoys it there. The updates
we receive are fantastic; we get to see what the room gets up to on a weekly basis and the development I see in my little girl is wonderful. Nothing is too much trouble; my daughter has allergies and the care and attention that is taken is superb. All the team are super friendly and there is no other nursery I would even think about recommending. Little Green Rascals all the way. Thank you all so much.

Little Green Rascal is the best nursery in York. They provide so much support and care to families and children under their care.


We’ll be so sad to say goodbyes when my little one leaves for school this August. We’ll miss being there.

Day to day I find Little Green Rascals to be excellent. They are open and quick with communication on the seldom occasion we haven’t ironed things out. I get lovely updates, the food and facilities are excellent (food and outdoor space I was particularly concerned about, being a veggie family with a
small garden at home) and the library is stocked with gentle parenting books, which makes me feel safe knowing my daughter is cared for in the manner I would care for her at home.


I was so scared to go back to work but I don’t worry about her there at all, in fact, I’m trying to get her in another day, I’m too anxious to send her elsewhere or hire a childminder when we visited other nurseries I worried a lot, but seeing the children there with the staff at Little Green Rascals makes me really happy.

The staff are fantastic, they look after our son amazingly.
He loves going and seeing everyone there.
I never worry about him at nursery and I always thought I would and this is purely down to the confidence we have in the staff that care for him.
Nothing is too much for them
He has been progressing
so well educationally wise and his speech is amazing for his age. He is even able to Makaton and I find this incredible for his age and he gets so much stimulation from nursery. They offer more than we could at home.

My son has been going to this nursery since he was six months old and has been getting on great there. He seems to develop better when he goes to nursery a couple of afternoons a week, and his main carer seems to have a special bond with him. They’ve been really good with his allergies too, and he’s

The Little Green Rascals goes beyond expectations in terms of childcare and development support. The staff is well trained and genuinely careful. The food is balanced, looks delicious and they inform parents, through the app Famly, the next day menu. By the way, it’s wonderful to have all information

Our child has attended the nursery for just under three months now and she seems to have such a wonderful time when she is there.


The environment itself is fantastic, with plenty of indoor and outdoor space for her to play and learn. In addition to this, its location in the centre of town makes day

trips very accessible for the children.


The meals provided to our child are healthy and interesting, which is important to us.


Overall, we are very happy with the care provided at the Nursery.

All the staff are so friendly and amazing with our baby. I feel fully confident dropping him off there knowing he’s getting fed well (organic home made food) and getting well looked after. The Famly app used is great too to be kept updated on what he’s doing. We love receiving photos of him throughout
the day. Have already recommended this nursery to friends.

Throughout my step-son’s time at Little Green Rascals, he has grown, developed and learnt in so many different ways. His confidence and personality have blossomed through his group play with so many lovely children, music, dancing, nurture and creativity. I trust that every time I drop him off or collect
him from the nursery, he has been met with care and compassion, and will be loved, delighted and guided throughout the day. Any concerns have been met with understanding, and their approach to discipline/coaching children is gentle and effective. The nursery values spending time outside, and will always have the children playing in the guidance wherever possible. The children take part in so many different activities such as Spanish, library visits and seasonal activities. The nursery respects all different cultures and has celebrated Chinese New Year and Eid. The manager of the nursery is phenomenal. I would recommend Little Green Rascals to anyone.

I have been so impressed with Little Green Rascals from our very first look around to each time I pick up and drop off my little girl. The team are so dedicated and I feel like her key worker takes a genuine interest in my child’s development. The nursery itself is absolutely beautiful with so many
imaginative play areas - I’d quite happily spend the day there myself. I’ve also been really impressed with the food, everything is made from scratch on-site and must be delicious as she eats so well there. There are regular activities planned and special things around Christmas, Easter, etc. My little girl is too young to fully appreciate all of the seasonal efforts that is made but as she gets older she’ll find it really special. Communication with the staff at LGR is open and easy and I’m pleased that I get plenty of updates whether it’s photos or messages whenever she’s there. Everything has been very much led by my little girl and her needs and I wouldn’t dream of her going anywhere else.
