The nursery offers exceptional care, enriched by unique learning opportunities for your child. One such experience is child-friendly cooking classes, helping to equip children with valuable skills and deeper knowledge of the cooking process.

The nursery offers the perfect setting for exciting adventures and explorations. Regular outings expose little ones to the wonders of the magnificent city - whether it's delving into history at one of the museums, savouring a sweet treat at Bettys, or feeding squirrels in the Museum Gardens, the children are always out and about, regardless of the weather.

Embracing the beauty of nature, the nursery practices Forest School in Minster Gardens. In addition, a range of optional extra-curricular activities are on offer, to enrich children's experiences. From science classes and yoga to drama, French and Spanish lessons and various sports classes, the aim is to provide a diverse array of opportunities for children’s growth and development.

The nursery spans across two buildings, each with two floors dedicated to different age groups. The four rooms within these buildings feature dedicated areas for messy play, soft play, small world exploration and reading, along with separate spaces for peaceful sleep. The private garden further enhances the learning environment, boasting a mud kitchen and a lush lawn area.

We removed our daughter as we were just so disappointed with the care, the reporting, the assessments, the lack of outdoor trips, menu that had been the same for many years.
We have found that although the senior management is efficient in their roles, the actual team that is looking after the children
although very welcoming, many of them lack the ability to follow simple instructions, make proper assessments and share learning outcomes. On pick up there is no description of a handover, no one seems to know what the children have eaten and weekly updates could include 2/3 pics of photos of no substance. On pick up, the children were always left to their own devices with many staff sat about and our daughter became anxious over her time there, exceptionally clingy on a weekend after her nursery days and we weren’t happy with the situation at all.
It’s a huge corporate nursery and sadly we saw it decline as the numbers rose.

Excellent overall experience. We are really happy with the nursery in general.
I only miss some pictures of my child enjoying activities and/or communication about what activities she enjoyed the most.

Lovely nursery, always an abundance of activities which are often themed to make a week more cohesive and fun. Football and science sessions are favourites. Lots of space for everyone to play and the forest school is great, hoping that reopens before my daughter leaves for school. They have a chef who
works really hard preparing fresh organic food for everyone and they also are very careful with any dietary requirements you may have (allergies, religion, vegan, etc). Staff are so helpful and always seem eager to be there. They have a SENCO department which is fab and works with the family to help with any developmental concerns/delays etc, so any questions can be answered and tasks to do are cohesive making it easier for the child. I also love how management arrange a first aid course (brief one) for parents/family as it's so important! Only downside is that it is a little bit more expensive than other nurseries. All in all, a fab nursery, we definitely recommend it!

We highly recommend the nursery. Our little boy is thriving, learning something new every day, very close to his key person and other staff members and just so happy. We always get a full summary of his dates and receive pictures regularly. Such a great nursery!

I love Little Green Rascals and my son has been attending since he was 1 and he is now 3 and a half years. He really enjoys it. I like the approach, the outdoor things, the forest school and the use of York as a location (going to the library etc.). The staff are lovely and kind. Many seem very young
and it would be great to have a few more male staff but they are lovely staff.
If I would have one criticism it would be that the daily cost has increased a huge amount in two years. It’s now at least £15 more per day than other good nurseries. I understand it but it did mean I had to drop a nursery day earlier this year and if I had not begun to receive my funding this year I also would have had to move nurseries altogether. The location and value-added do demand a slightly higher fee but I don’t think by that much.

A really good experience with this nursery. Our child has a good bond with staff and is always happy to go to the nursery in the morning. We receive regular and timely updates on any incidents, and the nursery has robust procedures in place to handle these. You can tell they are confident and well-trained.
I love seeing the 'observations' showing how my little one is doing. Staff are energetic and friendly - I really admire how they remain enthusiastic and welcoming day-in-day-out. Thank you for all your hard work!

We are so pleased we chose Little Green Rascals Day Nursery for our little rascal. He has settled in so well and really bonded with the team looking after him. There are regular updates and we get lots of photos of messy play and fun in the garden! The team genuinely care about the little ones and take
time getting to know the parents too. My little one has come on so much in every way since starting Little Green Rascals 5 months ago and he loves his nursery days! The food is great too, and they are brilliant with intolerances.

Having put my little one in the nursery from 9 months I was a little nervous but the team at Minster Yard have been so kind and supportive and updated us on how our child is getting on. I totally trust them and they are great with communication.

LGR is our first experience with day nurseries. We were recommended them by a member of their maintenance staff and we liked the description of their commitment to high standards, their 'forest school' outdoor spaces and their general ethos.
The staff all seem very friendly and keep you very well informed
of what is going on with your rascal throughout the day, by sending pictures and messages through the app.
The food menu is very good quality and made fresh on-site, posted on the app the day before so you always know what your rascal will be having.
There are cheaper nurseries around, but who wants to send their kids to a cut price nursery?

Very happy that we chose Little Green Rascals for our little one. Staff are amazing, very caring with our son and always updates us on how he is getting on each day. We get daily updates so we can see how much he has eaten, slept etc.
Our little one is also happy and enjoying his time in the nursery.

Absolutely incredible setting. My child absolutely loves going and has come along so much already even though he has only been attending a month. All of the staff have been incredible and have helped him settle in so well. The menu is incredible and enough to make me jealous.

Having moved our daughter from another nursery we could not be more delighted with Little Green Rascals. The care and attention to detail was evident on my first visit. I love the fact that naps are one of the priorities across all ages, the menu is amazing and updates through the family app are made
regularly. My daughter loves her key carer and has been thriving in her new setting, enjoying lots of learning, playing and adventures. The gorgeous location right opposite the Minster is an added bonus.

Little Green Rascals - Minster Yard is such a friendly, loving environment for children. They offer a wealth of opportunities to all the kids, and the staff love the kids like their own, with so much affection and cuddling. Structured and free play make days enjoyable for everyone.
