Little Green Rascals Day Nursery Minster Yard

My little girl started in January, she loves going to nursery and especially loves getting messy with the wide range of activities they have. She's settled so well and loves seeing her key person and all the girls in the room they have such a lovely bond.

My 3 children have been part of LGR for the last 7 years and they have learnt so much from coming here. My 18 month old is now in Little Ladybirds and I couldn't be happier with the care and love they show her. It was the same in another room, the care and love they all show her is everything I could ask for. She adores all the staff and children and the experience they give her is incredible, even if she is a monkey at getting to sleep! Thank you LGR.

Great facilities and lovely location.

The kids are kept active and outdoors (weather permitting).

The staff is friendly and competent.

Having visited pretty much all the other nurseries in the city, this one definitely stands out as the best.

We couldn't be happier with our experience at Little Green Rascals - Minster Yard in the centre of York. Our daughter Poppy has spent the past four years here, and it has truly been a wonderful journey for her and for us as a family.

Every single nursery nurse has shown such care, dedication, and genuine warmth. It's impossible to name them all, but each one has played a part in creating a safe, nurturing, and joyful environment where children can really thrive.

A special mention has to go to Suzie, the manager, who is simply invaluable. Her support for the staff, parents, and every child is clear in everything she does. She sets such a positive tone, and it shines through the whole nursery.

Thanks to the team, Poppy is now moving on with real confidence, curiosity, and a love of learning that will stay with her for years to come. We're incredibly grateful for everything they've done and would wholeheartedly recommend this nursery to any parent.

Our son started nursery at 5 months old and we were initially very nervous about sending him. The LCR team (dancing dragonflies) were absolutely brilliant and went above and beyond to make the transition smooth. Our son loves his nursery days and always has a big smile when he sees the team. They keep us updated on his day with pictures and messages and support his learning well.

Friendly staff who are genuinely interested and caring. It's reassuring to know that the food on offer is great quality and has lots of variety. Thanks LGR!! Foret school + music lessons = amazing.

We were initially nervous about sending our baby to start nursery in the Dancing Dragonflies room but the team at Little Green Rascals have been excellent and went above and beyond to help him settle in well. Our son looks forward to his nursery days and always has a big smile when he sees his key worker.

We have had our son at Minster Yard since he was 12 months and he (and us) have had the best experience with Minster Yard. We are so happy to see how he flourishes and love the staff, who truly go above and beyond to meet each individual child's needs. The facilities are great, too, toys are in excellent condition and activities meaningful and of educational value while absolute fun for the little ones (highlights include Baby Band which our son loves). The food is excellent, nutritious and varied- and lovingly prepared by a fantastic and super friendly kitchen team on site! We moved to York for work and without any family connections in town, and we can not stress enough how Minster Yard really was so important to help us all settle here. Our son is now moving up to Cheeky Hens and we are so happy to see that he has already made some lovely friends. A big thank you to the fantastic team and management of Minster Yard- we cannot recommend you highly enough!

The nursery staff are amazing, caring, kind and respectful. Our older son attended and now his younger brother is in the same nursery. They both love going to the nursery, they love attending forest school, active play sessions, yoga and French lessons which is great because my husband is half French and I am half Swedish. They even asked us some words written in French and Swedish that we use with the boys at home so that they can also learn and are able to understand in case of boys use it. my youngest loves his keyperson and friends in nursey. The nursery is diverse too, and I am very happy that both our boys attended it. We are very happy and grateful to the staff. My boys also love the food in the nursery, and they always ask for more. Which is great so I am very relax knowing that they are well fed and taking care of while me and my husband are working. Thank you to the staff

I recommend this nursery

My daughter has only been attending this nursery for a few months but she absolutely loves it, as do I. The staff have all been amazing and especially attentive during the first few weeks, which was very reassuring for me as a first time mum. They are extremely caring and have helped make the daunting transition to nursery completely stress-free with lots of regular updates throughout each day. They're so friendly and welcoming and the nursery is lovely.

Our son has been at this nursery since 2024 and we are very impressed with the standards. Our son has complex medical needs and the team cannot do enough to help us. Not only is our son happy and thriving when there, they have helped us navigate the SEND system. The staff here are kind and caring across all rooms and the management team are approachable and very responsive. They have all worked hard to include our son in all aspects of the day, meet his additional needs and communicate well with us. They have dedicated send staff, but the whole team is very knowledgable and fantastic with our son and with us as a family.

The nursery is absolutely wonderful, providing a warm, nurturing and safe environment where my toddler has thrived. The staff are kind, attentive and creative. My son genuinely loves going and I feel at peace knowing he is in such caring hands.

Management are also amazing offering great support and stay and play sessions alongside other experiences too

Any questions or challenges I've ever experienced the team have dealt with proactively. I'd find it hard to believe there is a better location within York to send your child to.

Our son has been at this nursery since September 2024 and after the initial adjustment, he has had a brilliant time. Based on what my partner and I see via the app, and from what we've observed during the nursery's open days, the range of activities is good, he is well looked after and his development is supported. The food is good-quality and crucially, he is able to have a huge amount of fun, with learning incorporated into the play. We've been very happy with what has been provided so far and are confident that as he progresses through the rooms, the nursery will continue to support him.

We are extremely pleased with our experience at LGR Minster Yard. The location is very convenient, with the beautiful Church a stones throw from the nursery. My son started at 7 months old, and I have always felt impressed with the care he has received - now, he leans in to his key person every morning, so excited to go inside! I am amazed by the quality and variety of the food he eats, and nursery has certainly assisted us hugely with his weaning journey. The range of activities offered impresses me daily (and especially the messy ones, which my son seems to love!) and the thoughtfulness of the staff. Nothing is too much trouble, and they have been so accommodating and flexible. We love getting notifications on the app about what he's been up to in the day and checking in with his key person every evening, where we can chat through his day. A wonderful nursery - we feel comfortable dropping our son off each day, and confident that he is learning so much in the care of the staff.

The staff are great at keeping you updated throughout the day on the app too - not too many updates but enough that you know your child is having a good day. I would always trust them to phone me if he's poorly or struggling, but that has only happened once. I would recommend this nursery to friends and family.

My girls have been going here since they were 6 months old and they are turning two soon. We are delighted with our experience with Minster yard. The staff are great and genuinely very caring towards the children. The nursery is well equipped and clean. They get plenty of outdoor time and activities. It was a tough decision for us to pick a nursery, as we have twins and the price was a worry, but we are so thankful we chose LGR (despite it not being the cheapest!) as it's just been amazing for their development. The management team have also been great at finding space for ad hoc days when we need them. My only tiny bit of feedback would be that the previous app was much better than the current one, but other than that I have only glowing things to say about this lovely nursery.
