Orchard offers a fantastic range of activities every day - there's always something different to do or explore. We love the food they provide and especially the daily reports.
The staff did change a little at the start of our time there, but my child has had the same key worker more or less since the start and absolutely adores her. She has created strong bonds with other teachers and children there.
The current management team is good, receptive to ideas and comments and takes the time to listen to parent's concerns.
I am particularly pleased with the curriculum and the fact that the food is made from scratch on-site. It's always healthy, seasonal and varied. The children are also sometimes involved in cooking classes.
There are a variety of activities available for children attending, including sports, drama and languages, although mostly in the morning.
Special events, which parents can attend, are always fun, and other family members are welcome.
The food is great, and the kitchen is open plan so the kids can see the chef working, and interact with him. This has really inspired my now-preschooler, who enthusiastically wants to help me cook each day.
My son had a few months where he was upset at drop off, but the staff dealt with it calmly and swiftly, and my smiling little boy was there at pick up, having had a great day.
What I like also is that the nursery is open plan which allows kids to see children of other age groups. All the classes are organised around the kids and chef’s kitchen which gives a homely feeling to the setting. The meals are cooked on-site and of great quality.
The garden is also practical, fit for purpose, and quiet, away from cars and noise.
Management has been responsive to our queries and supports the families really well.
Our son has been attending Orchard Day since he was about 18 month's old. Now 4, he enjoys attending the nursery and has made a lot of friends there. He is happy, confident and engaged and this is all down to the staff. Particularly his care worker but everyone at the nursery has made him feel welcome. It is a fun, active and educational environment and he has enjoyed and continues to learn new things every week. We are very happy with our experience and would recommend the nursery.
Overall this nursery gives me peace of mind that I'm leaving my daughter in safe hands, the staff are very friendly and caring towards all children. They adapt to every need and personality of the children. For example, my daughter is more a talker than walker so they've helped her advance in both to make sure she is getting the best for her age. The food is excellent, and she eats a lot, more than when she comes home. The fact that the food is fresh is a big plus about this nursery and its open plan, so the babies/infants can see the kitchen and smell the food, this makes a huge difference. This is definitely one of the huge factors I liked this nursery. The biggest factor about this nursery is that the area is open plan, there is no segregation between the different age brackets. The babies can see the infants and the infants can see the soon to be children. This helps with development and influencing the child to follow suit of other children; Major plus for my wife and I.
The food is delicious and freshly prepared from scratch, on-site, from fresh ingredients every day.
My child has loved learning phonics, numbers and letters and always has lots of fun at nursery with arts and crafts and free play too.
The outside area is large enough for trikes, water, sand, a mud kitchen, making dens, etc. as well as the sports activities which happen throughout the week. The children get plenty of time outside in the fresh air. As well as football and tennis, the nursery also has a children's drama and dance teacher come to the nursery weekly and they put together a show for parents at Christmas and graduation time which is lovely.
